Background: Obesity is increasingly recognized as a significant factor in the susceptibility of older adults to falls and related injuries. While existing literature has established a connection between obesity and reduced postural stability during stationary stances, the direct implications of obesity on walking dynamics, particularly among the older adults with sarcopenia, are not yet comprehensively understood.
Objective: Firstly, to investigate the influence of obesity on steady-state and proactive balance, as well as gait characteristics, among older adults with sarcopenic obesity (SO); and secondly, to unearth correlations between anthropometric characteristics and balance and gait parameters in the same demographic.

Background: Testicular and epididymal sperm extraction surgery is a frequent procedure. However, to date, there has been no French consensus on the technique to be preferred in the various situations of male infertility and on the best way to perform them. We therefore decided to proceed with a formalized expert consensus, using the method recommended by the French National Authority for Health.

Despite its first description in 1977 and numerous reports of its presence in various plant species in many countries, the molecular information available in GenBank for artichoke Italian latent virus (AILV) is still limited to a single complete genome sequence (RNA1 and 2) of a grapevine isolate (AILV-V) and a partial portion of the RNA2 sequence from an isolate of unknown origin and host. Here, we report the results of molecular analyses conducted on the RNA2 of some AILV isolates, sequenced for the first time in this study, together with the first-time identification of AILV in a new host plant species, namely chard ( subsp. vulgaris), associated with vein clearing and mottling symptoms on leaves.

Background: Childhood vesico-sphincteric disorders are the cause of functional and psychological disability. They are also responsible for serious uronephrologic complications akin to neuro-bladder complications. In this study, we looked for the clinical manifestations linked to these disorders as well as the paraclinical and urodynamic anomalies and their therapeutic management.

The protective role of superoxide dismutase (Sod) against oxidative stress, resulting from the common antibiotic pathway of action, has been studied in the wild type and mutant strains of swarmer Pseudomonas aeruginosa, lacking Cytosolic Mn-Sod (sodM), Fe-Sod (sodB) or both Sods (sodMB).Our results showed that inactivation of sodB genes leads to significant motility defects and tolerance to meropenem. This resistance is correlated with a greater membrane unsaturation as well as an effective intervention of Mn-Sod isoform, in antibiotic tolerance.

Cardiovascular infections are the most severe and potentially lethal among the persistent focalized infections. While aortic infections on aneurysms or prostheses are well-known, with specific complications (risk of fatal rupture), new non-aortic vascular infections are increasingly being described thanks to the emerging use of 18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (F-FDG PET-scan). Here, we describe an infection of a femoro-popliteal bypass that would not have been diagnosed without the use of PET-scan.

Microbial surfactants are natural amphiphilic compounds with high surface activities and emulsifying properties. Due to their structural diversity, low toxicity, biodegradability, and chemical stability in different conditions, these molecules are potential substitutes for chemical surfactants; their interest has grown significantly over the last decade. The current study focuses on the isolation, identification, and characterization of a lactic acid bacteria that produce two forms of biosurfactants.
