It has been shown that depositing ketoprofen as thin films on glass substrates has a stabilizing effect on the amorphous state of ketoprofen. Polyethylene glycol ( = 6000 g/mol) was mixed with ketoprofen in a wide range of concentrations. Amorphous thin films were prepared by spin coating and subjected to storage conditions with different levels of relative humidity.

Olive mill wastewater (OMWW), a byproduct of olive oil extraction, constitutes a natural resource of phenolic compounds. Hydroxytyrosol (HT), the predominant compound, exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective effects. This research aims to evaluate the effect of OMWW bioproduct rich in HT on retinal glial function, glutamate metabolism and synaptic transmission alterations mediated by hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia in high-calorie diet (HCD) induced diabetic retinopathy (DR) in Psammomys obesus.

Concurrent Adrenal Adenoma, Unilateral Adrenal Hyperplasia, and Bilateral Renal Artery Stenosis in a 61-Year-Old Man.

Am J Mens Health

December 2024

Department of Radiology, Faculté de Médecine de Sousse, Université de Sousse, Hôpital Farhat Hached, Sousse, Tunisie.

We report a case of a very rare association of adrenal adenoma, unilateral adrenal hyperplasia, and bilateral renal artery stenosis. A 61-year-old man with a remarkable history of two severe strokes was admitted to the Nephrology department with hypertension associated with severe hypokalemia and metabolic alkalosis. Doppler of renal arteries was not conclusive, so contrast-enhanced scanning was done revealing a left adrenal adenoma, right adrenal hyperplasia, and bilateral moderate renal artery stenosis.

Influence of Gold Nanoparticles on eNOS Localization in Gill Tissues: Advancements in Immunofluorescence Techniques.

ACS Omega

December 2024

Laboratoire de Recherche: Caractérisations, Applications et Modélisation de Matériaux, Université de Tunis El Manar, Faculté des Sciences de Tunis, Tunis 2092, Tunisia.

This study optimizes immunofluorescence techniques using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) to improve visualization of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) in gill tissue. Two types of AuNP dispersions, stabilized in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) and citrate buffer (CB), were evaluated for their imaging performance. AuNPs suspended in PBS provided significantly better optical contrast due to uniform distribution and effective tissue attachment, whereas citrate-suspended AuNPs exhibited aggregation, resulting in reduced contrast.

However, in hot, arid/semi-arid regions data on their occurrence are poor. In this paper, we focused on interactions between maize and Fusarium fungal species in Tunisia, which has a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and milder, damper winters.

Article Synopsis
  • - North Africa has both fat-tailed and thin-tailed sheep breeds; the fat-tailed ones are better suited to dry environments.
  • - A study analyzed genetic data from 462 sheep across 22 breeds to identify genomic regions under different selective pressures related to these traits.
  • - Seven candidate regions on chromosomes, particularly around the BMP2 gene, were found to be under strong selection, linked to adaptations like fat storage and tolerance to harsh conditions.
