This study aimed to evaluate the impact of four biochar concentrations (0, 2, 5, and 8%) on single and interactive effects of salinity and drought stresses on the morphological, physiological, and photosynthetic parameters of faba bean plants. PCA analysis showed that plants displayed different behavior under non-stressed and stressed conditions. The most discriminating quantitative characters were related to plant biomass production and photosynthesis, especially shoot dry mass, root dry mass, plant fresh mass, internal CO concentration, net CO assimilation rate, and relative water content.

A novel organic-inorganic material (CHN)ZnCl·2Cl was synthesized via a slow evaporation approach and subjected to extensive characterization. Techniques involving X-ray diffraction, SEM/EDX, Hirshfeld surface examination, IR/Raman spectroscopy, thermal behavior (TG/DTG/SDTA and DSC), and electric and dielectric studies were applied. Examination of the crystal structure reveals that the synthesized material adopts a monoclinic system, particularly belonging to the 2/ space group with unit cell parameters = 11.

Pan Afr Med J

December 2024

Department of Gastroenterology, International University of Rabat, Riad Annakhil International Polyclinic, Rabat, Morocco.

Foveolar-type adenomas are very rare lesions, representing approximately 2.7% of duodenal adenomas with gastric phenotype, histologically characterized by tall columnar cells resembling gastric foveolar epithelium and a tubulovillous structure with various degrees of dysplasia. Their risk of progression to adenocarcinoma is related to the size of the polyp and the presence of high-grade dysplasia.

December 2024

Farhat HACHED Hospital, Laboratory of Physiology and Functional Explorations, University of Sousse, Sousse, Tunisia.

The diagnosis and management of common chronic respiratory diseases depend on various parameters obtained from pulmonary function tests (PFTs), such as spirometry, plethysmography, and carbon monoxide diffusion capacity (DLCO). These tests are interpreted following guidelines established by reputable scientific societies like the European Respiratory Society and the American Thoracic Society (ERS/ATS). This review aimed to offer a comprehensive framework for interpreting PFTs, incorporating the latest ERS/ATS update (i.

Background And Aims: Neurofibromatosis-Noonan syndrome (NFNS) is an extremely rare genetic entity combining the clinical phenotype of two conditions: neurofibromatosis type 1 syndrome (NF1) and Noonan syndrome (NS). Nevertheless, many inconsistencies reside in our understanding of this condition, mainly its clinical features and genetic background. Through this systematic review, we aim to shed light on the epidemiological features, the broad clinical spectrum, the underlying genetic defects and the associated comorbidities of NFNS.

Introduction: Evidence-based clinical practice guidelines drive optimal patient care and facilitate access to high-quality treatment. Creating guidelines for rare diseases such as haemophilia, where evidence does not often come from randomized controlled trials but from non-randomized and well-designed observational studies and real-world data, is challenging. The methodology used for assessing available evidence should consider this critical fact.
