This study focuses on the extraction of betalain compounds from as a natural alternative to synthetic colorants and sustainable environmentally friendly technology solutions. Non-conventional extraction technologies including microwave (MW) and ultrasound (US) were used alone or in combination. The extraction process was conducted for both undried (OS) and dried (DOS) plant material at two distinct drying temperatures, 40 °C and 60 °C, to assess the stability of betalain molecules.

Adequate levels of leisure-time exercise (LTE) are associated with mental health benefits. Despite increased research in recent years through randomized controlled trials (RCTs), a systematic literature review summarizing these findings is lacking. Here, we examined publication trends, impact, and research gaps regarding LTE's effects on mental health in the form of a bibliometric analysis.

: Heart failure (HF) is a significant health burden associated with severe morbidity, mortality, and hospitalization costs and it poses challenges not only to individuals and their families but also to societal and governmental resources. In fact, nurses are indispensable in managing HF patients. The success of patient self-care preparation through education relies not only on the patient's abilities and attitude but also on the nurse's proficiency in these tasks and their knowledge and attitudes can significantly impact patient outcomes.

Feed additives are crucial in livestock production, enhancing performance, health, and reproductive efficiency. Recently, there has been a shift toward natural biomolecules as feed additives, specifically targeting improved reproductive outcomes and sperm quality. This transition arises from concerns about antibiotic misuse, antimicrobial resistance, and consumer preferences for eco-friendly products, along with the superior bioavailability, lower toxicity, and reduced environmental impact of natural biomolecules compared to synthetic alternatives.

The use of nanoparticles improves the stability, solubility, and skin permeability of natural compounds in skincare products. Based on these advantages, this study aimed to incorporate the extract into polymeric nanoparticles to improve its topical skin delivery for wound healing purposes. The study involved the preparation of nanoparticles of PLGA and PLGA-PEG (PCE-PLGA-NPs and PCE-PLGA-PEG-NPs) using the solvent displacement method, physicochemical and biopharmaceutical characterization, tolerance studies by the HET-CAM assay and evaluation of skin integrity parameters, and in vitro efficacy via a scratch wound healing experiment.

Cellular phenotypic transformation is a key process that occurs during the development and progression of atherosclerosis. Within the arterial wall, endothelial cells, vascular smooth muscle cells, and macrophages undergo phenotypic changes that contribute to the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. miRNAs have emerged as potential biomarkers for cellular phenotypic changes during atherosclerosis.

In this work, we describe the synthesis of three new -arylporphyrins, named -tetrakis [4-(nicotinoyloxy)phenyl] porphyrin (), -tetrakis [4-(picolinoyloxy)phenyl] porphyrin (), and -tetrakis [4-(isonicotinoyloxy) phenyl] porphyrin (). These new synthesized -arylporphyrins are characterized using spectroscopic analysis: Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and One-dimensional Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1D NMR), and mass spectrometry (MS). The photophysical studies (UV-visible absorption, singlet oxygen (O) luminescence, and fluorescence emissions) demonstrate their potential uses as photosensitizers (PSs) in photodynamic therapy (PDT) applications.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of treating olive () leaves with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) or urea (both at 4% for 40 d) or supplementing with polyethylene glycol (PEG) at 100 mg/g DM on their nutrient composition, gas production, methane (CH) and carbon dioxide (CO) productions, and fermentation profile. The results showed that NaOH-treated leaves had the lowest organic matter and fiber fractions, while urea-treated olive leaves exhibited the highest crude protein content ( < 0.001).

Litter size records from two lines of Tunisian Barbarine sheep were analysed across parities using an RRM. A total of 2751 and 2562 litter records from the first to the sixth parity from the prolific and the conventional lines, respectively, were included in the analysis. The total number of animals in the pedigree was 1277 for the prolific line and 1102 for the conventional line.

Background: Schizophrenia is a highly heterogeneous disease, and a high percentage of patients are at high risk of developing somatic comorbidities, which must be taken into account in disease management and treatment selection.
Main Body: Antipsychotics are often associated with side effects that worsen the somatic comorbidities. Among the different options, cariprazine is generally safe and usually well tolerated in both acute and long-term treatment and is often a good choice when balancing clinical benefits and side effects.

Induction motors (IMs), as essential components in industrial operations, are subject to various operational abnormalities, such as voltage unbalance, harmonic distortions, under/over voltage supply, and ambient temperature variations. These factors necessitate the de-rating of torque to ensure motor reliability, efficiency, and safe operation within rated power loss limits. Traditional methods for estimating de-rated torque often involve complex and time-intensive calculations, creating challenges in real-time applications.

State-of-the-art climate models project a substantial decline in precipitation for the Mediterranean region in the future. Supporting this notion, several studies based on observed precipitation data spanning recent decades have suggested a decrease in Mediterranean precipitation, with some attributing a large fraction of this change to anthropogenic influences. Conversely, certain researchers have underlined that Mediterranean precipitation exhibits considerable spatiotemporal variability driven by atmospheric circulation patterns maintaining stationarity over the long term.

Ancient DNA from the Mediterranean region has revealed long-range connections and population transformations associated with the spread of food-producing economies. However, in contrast to Europe, genetic data from this key transition in northern Africa are limited, and have only been available from the far western Maghreb (Morocco). Here we present genome-wide data for nine individuals from the Later Stone Age through the Neolithic period from Algeria and Tunisia.

Girgentana goats are an ancient breed with distinctive morphological, adaptive, and production traits, making this population an interesting model for studying the genetic architecture underlying these traits. These special features result from natural and human-mediated selection. In this study, we aimed to detect potential signatures of selection in the Girgentana genome by combining the following statistical methods: the integrated haplotype score (iHS), the standardised log-ratio of the integrated site-specific extended haplotype homozygosity test between pairs of populations (Rsb), the runs of homozygosity (ROH) islands and the population differentiation index (F).

Pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNETS) are common intracranial tumors, but extrasellar or ectopic PitNETS are very rare and supposed to originate from some pituitary remnants. They are mostly found in sphenoidal sinus. But particularly, ectopic clival PitNETS are highly aggressive and can cause bone invasion and can be misdiagnosed as other lesions of the skull base such as chordomas.

Discordance between physicians and patients in assessing psoriatic arthritis (PsA) activity is common and might impact treatment adherence and decision-making. Cultural and belief systems may influence this discordance. This study aimed to assess the extent of patient-physician discordance in PsA in Arab countries and its association with demographic and disease characteristics.

Background: Verbal coach encouragement is a key motivational strategy that enhances skill development, game strategy execution, and team cohesion. In youth basketball, where players are still developing technical and decision-making abilities, coach encouragement can play a crucial role in sustaining effort, improving focus, and fostering resilience under small-sided games (SSGs). This study investigated how coach encouragement (CE) influences young basketball players' technical performance and psychophysiological responses during competitive gameplay.
