Study Objectives: To examine 1) multidimensional sleep profiles in pre-schoolers (3-6 years) across geocultural regions and 2) differences in sleep characteristics and family practices between Majority World regions (Pacific Islands, Sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe, Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, Latin America) and the Minority World (the Western world).
Methods: Participants were 3507 pre-schoolers from 37 countries. Nighttime sleep characteristics and nap duration (accelerometer: n=1950) and family practices (parental questionnaire) were measured.

Background: Cutaneous Leishmaniases (CL), highly endemic in Africa and Mediterranean region, are caused by different Leishmania parasite species. Accurate species identification is crucial for effective diagnosis, treatment, and control of these diseases, but traditionally relies on DNA-based methods. High Resolution Melting analysis PCR (HRM PCR) provides rapid results and precise differentiation based on nucleotide variations.

This study optimizes immunofluorescence techniques using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) to improve visualization of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) in gill tissue. Two types of AuNP dispersions, stabilized in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) and citrate buffer (CB), were evaluated for their imaging performance. AuNPs suspended in PBS provided significantly better optical contrast due to uniform distribution and effective tissue attachment, whereas citrate-suspended AuNPs exhibited aggregation, resulting in reduced contrast.

Introduction: Polycystic ovary syndrome is a common chronic condition characterized by insulin resistance and hyperandrogenism, leading to significant health risks and impaired quality of life. Sodium-glucose transporter type 2 inhibitors have shown promise in improving the metabolic profile of women with polycystic ovary syndrome. However, their impact on hormonal parameters and cycle disorders remains uncertain.

In the title salt, CHN ·HPO , the complete dication is generated by a crystallographic centre of symmetry with the methyl groups in equatorial orientations. The complete dianion is generated by a crystallographic twofold axis with the central O atom lying on the axis: the P-O-P bond angle is 135.50 (12)°.

This paper introduces a novel class of chaotic attractors by lever- aging different activation functions within neurons possessing multiple dendrites. We propose a comprehensive framework where the activation functions in neurons are varied, allowing for diverse behaviors such as amplification, fluctuation, and folding of scrolls within the resulting chaotic attractors. By employing wavelet functions and other model-specific activation functions, we demonstrate the capability to modify scroll characteristics, including size and direction.

Background: Higher life expectancy has produced a higher older people porpulation, not necessarily with a consistent quality of life, showing a high rate of vulnerability and dependence. The current social and health crisis situation has highlighted the need to create new integrated models of care that could be translated into social and health policies.
Objective: The present study aims to develop, test, and validate an innovative integrated care model for older people with dependence and at risk of social exclusion and their caregivers.

The clinical evidence, complications and the pathogenesis of COVID-19 are not clearly understood. In COVID-19 patients, cellular immune response biomarkers and oxidative stress parameters have been used as gravity markers. Indeed, oxidative stress has been proposed to play an essential role in the genesis of COVID-19.

The intrauterine device (IUD) is a widely utilized contraceptive method. In cases of uterine rupture, an IUD can migrate to the intra-abdominal or pelvic cavity, leading to various complications such as gastrointestinal perforation. The aim of this study was to report a case of a 29-year-old woman presented with acute left lumber pain.

Pneumococcal meningitis is the most severe bacterial meningitis rarely complicated by acute myelitis. We report a case of a 54-year-old female who presented with pneumococcal meningoencephalitis. After eight days of hospitalization, the patient presented a sudden onset of bilateral lower leg weakness and bladder and bowel sphincter dysfunction.

Introduction: Triorchidism is a rare anomaly whose management raised considerable discussion. Several factors must be considered, including the patient's age, the testes location, their functional status, and the accessibility and compliance for follow-up. We present a case of triorchidism diagnosed incidentally during a routine hernioplasty procedure, serving educational and informative purposes.

From 2014 to 2021, Tunisian government had a firm will to implement a progressive decentralization of welfare state governance, as outlined in its democratic Constitution. The Tunisian public healthcare system was selected as a pilot sector for experimenting with decentralization to reduce disparities in access to and quality of health services across different regions. This paper aimed to formulate an effective strategy for healthcare system decentralization in low- and middle-income countries, drawing on past experiences of its implementation.

This study introduces a novel deep learning approach for 3D teeth scan segmentation and labeling, designed to enhance accuracy in computer-aided design (CAD) systems. Our method is organized into three key stages: coarse localization, fine teeth segmentation, and labeling. In the teeth localization stage, we employ a Mask-RCNN model to detect teeth in a rendered three-channel 2D representation of the input scan.

In this paper, an automated feature selection (FS) method is presented to optimize machine learning (ML) models' performances, enhancing early keratoconus screening. A total of 448 parameters were analyzed from a dataset comprising 3162 observations sourced from the swept source optical coherence tomography imaging system developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Automation (SS-1000 CASIA OCT) and electronic health records (EHR). To identify the most relevant features, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) method was used in this study.

This study re-evaluates Pseudofrankia strains, traditionally regarded as parasitic dwellers of actinorhizal root nodules due to their inability to fix nitrogen (Fix -) and/or nodulate (Nod -), as potential plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB). We compared plant growth-promoting traits (PGPTs) between Pseudofrankia strains, including one newly sequenced strain BMG5.37 in this study and typical (Fix + /Nod +) Frankia, Protofrankia, and Parafrankia, as well as non-frankia actinorhizal species Nocardia and Micromonospora, and the phytopathogenic Streptomyces.

To manage the adverse effects of garbage pollution and avoid using chemicals, a natural extract of seafood shells was obtained and explored for its beneficial role. Physical characterization highlighted that its active compounds correspond to chitin and its derivative, chitosan. The ability of the extracted biostimulant to foster tomato tolerance was tested on drought-stressed plants.

Asthenoteratozoospermia is a common cause of male infertility. To further define the genetic causes underlying asthenoteratozoospermia, we performed whole-exome sequencing in a cohort of Han Chinese men with asthenoteratozoospermia. Homozygous deleterious variants of MYCBPAP were first identified in two unrelated Chinese cases.

Heat shock factor (HSF)-type regulators are stress-responsive transcription factors widely distributed among eukaryotes, including fungi. They carry a four-stranded winged helix-turn-helix DNA-binding domain considered as the signature domain for HSFs. The genome of the opportunistic yeast encodes four HSF members, namely, Sfl1, Sfl2, Skn7, and the essential regulator, Hsf1.
