Objective: To explore the abnormalities of brain function in blepharospasm (BSP) and to illustrate its neural mechanisms by assuming supplementary motor area (SMA) as the entry point.
Methods: Twenty-five patients with BSP and 23 controls underwent resting-state functional MRI, seed-based functional connectivity (FC), correlation analysis, receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis, and support vector machine (SVM) were applied to process the data.
Results: Patients showed that the left medial prefrontal cortex (MPFC), left lingual gyrus, right cerebellar crus I, and right lingual gyrus/cerebellar crus I had enhanced FC with the left SMA, whereas the right inferior temporal gyrus (ITG) had enhanced FC with the right SMA relative to controls.

Peroxisomes and pexophagy have gained increasing attention in their role within the central nervous system (CNS) in recent years. In this review, we comprehensively discussed the physiological and pathological mechanisms of peroxisomes and pexophagy in neurological diseases. Peroxisomes communicate with mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and lipid bodies.

Ring finger protein 43 (RNF43), a transmembrane E3 ubiquitin ligase, has been indicated to be a potential biomarker for gastric cancer treatment, as this protein increases tumour cell apoptosis and suppresses cellular proliferation. The role of RNF43 in cellular immunotherapy remains unclear. Herein, we aimed to explore the expression level of RNF43 in gastric cancer cell lines and its role in cellular immunotherapy.

Immunotherapy holds great promise for the treatment of malignant cancer. However, the lack of sufficient tumor neoantigens and incomplete dendritic cell (DC) maturation compromise the efficacy of immunotherapy. Here, a modular hydrogel-based vaccine capable of eliciting a powerful and sustained immune response is developed.

Integrating clinical rare cell enrichment, culture, and single-cell phenotypic profiling is currently hampered by the lack of competent technologies, which typically suffer from weak cell-interface collision affinity, strong nonspecific adsorption, and the potential uptake. Here, we report cells-on-a-bubble, a bioinspired, self-powered bioorthogonal microbubble (click bubble) that leverages a clickable antifouling nanointerface and a DNA-assembled sucker-like polyvalent cell surface, to enable instant and suspended isolation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) within minutes. Using this biomimetic engineering strategy, click bubbles achieve a capture efficiency of up to 98%, improved by 20% at 15 times faster over their monovalent counterparts.

Background: Non-voltage-gated sodium channel, also known as the epithelial sodium channel (ENaC), formed by heteromeric complexes consisting of SCNN1A, SCNN1B, and SCNN1G, is responsible for maintaining sodium ion and body fluid homeostasis in epithelial cells. However, no systematic study of SCNN1 family members has been conducted in renal clear cell carcinoma (ccRCC) to date.
Objective: To investigate the abnormal expression of SCNN1 family in ccRCC and its potential correlation with clinical parameters.

Background: Recurrence is common among patients undergoing hepatic resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which greatly limits long-term survival. We aimed to identify predictors and long-term prognosis of early and late recurrence after HCC resection.
Methods: Multicenter data of patients who underwent HCC resection between 2002 and 2016 were analyzed.

Objective: To determine how honokiol affects the sirtuin-3 (SIRT3)-MnSOD2 pathway and oxidative stress in rats with hypertriglyceridemia-induced acute pancreatitis (HTGP).
Methods: Thirty 4-week-old male SD rats were randomly divided into two groups for normal feeding and high-fat feeding for 4 weeks, after which the rats with normal feeding were randomized into control group and acute pancreatitis (AP) group (=6), and those with high-fat feeding were divided into hypertriglyceridemia group, HTGP group, and honokiol treatment group (=6). In AP, HTGP, and honokiol groups, AP models were established by intraperitoneal injection of cerulean; in honokiol group, the rats received an intraperitoneal injection of 5 mg/kg honokiol 15 min after cerulean injection.

Purpose: This study aimed at analyzing and comparing the perioperative results and long-term oncological outcomes of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) treated with laparoscopic (LLR) versus open liver resection (OLR).
Methods: Clinicopathological data of HCC patients with T2DM who underwent LLR or OLR as initial treatment from four medical centers were retrospectively reviewed. The survival outcomes of patients who underwent laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) were compared with those of patients who underwent open liver resection (OLR).

Background: This study aimed to mine and compare the positive signals of adverse drug events (ADE) in paclitaxel, docetaxel, and nab-paclitaxel to evaluate the accuracy of current drug package information inserts and enable clinicians to select the appropriate treatment.
Research Design And Methods: ADE data reported from January 2006 to December 2020 were extracted from the Food and Drug Adverse Drug Events Reporting System (FAERS) database, and the reporting odds ratio (ROR) was used to detect the risk signals of the 3 taxanes. The definition relied on system organ class (SOCs) and preferred terms (PTs) by the Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities (MedDRA).

Protein-nucleic acid interactions are not only fundamental to genetic regulation and cellular metabolism, but molecular basis to artificial biosensors. However, such interactions are generally weak and dynamic, making their specific and sensitive quantitative detection challenging. By using primer exchange reaction (PER)-amplified protein-nucleic acid interactions, we here design a universal and ultrasensitive electrochemical sensor to quantify microRNAs (miRNAs) in blood.

Background: Lipid metabolism and cancer-related inflammation are closely related to the progression and prognosis of colorectal cancer (CRC). Therefore, this study aims to establish novel nomograms based on the combined detection of preoperative blood lipids and systemic inflammatory indicators to predict the overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CCS) of CRC patients.
Methods: A total of 523 patients with stage I-III CRC in our institute were collected from 2014 to 2018.

Exosomes are emerging as promising biomarkers for cancer diagnosis, yet sensitive and accurate quantification of tumor-derived exosomes remains a challenge. Here, we report an ultrasensitive and specific exosome sensor (NPExo) that initially leverages hierarchical nanostructuring array and primer exchange reaction (PER) for quantitation of cancerous exosomes. This NPExo uses a high-curvature nanostructuring array (bottom) fabricated by single-step electrodeposition to enhance capturing of the target exosomes.
