Bladder cancer is one of the most frequent malignant tumors of the urinary system. The prevalence of bladder cancer among men and women is roughly 5:2, and both its incidence and death have been rising steadily over the past few years. At the moment, metastasis and recurrence of advanced bladder cancer-which are believed to be connected to the malfunction of multigene and multilevel cell signaling network-remain the leading causes of bladder cancer-related death.

Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) poses a considerable worldwide health concern due to its associated high risk of death. The heterogeneity of HCC poses challenges in developing practical risk stratification tools and identifying prognostic markers for personalized targeted treatments. Recently, lysosomes were shown to be crucial contributors to numerous cellular activities, including tumor initiation and immune response regulation.

Anoikis is a programmed cell death process triggered when cells are dislodged from the extracellular matrix. Numerous long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been identified as significant factors associated with anoikis resistance in various tumor types, including glioma, breast cancer, and bladder cancer. However, the relationship between lncRNAs and the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has received limited research attention.

SET domain bifurcated 1 (SETDB1), a pivotal histone lysine methyltransferase, is transported to the cytoplasm via a chromosome region maintenance 1 (CMR1)‑dependent pathway, contributing to non‑histone methylation. However, the function and underlying mechanism of cytoplasmic SETDB1 in breast cancer remain elusive. In the present study, immunohistochemistry revealed that elevated cytoplasmic SETDB1 was correlated with lymph node metastasis and more aggressive breast cancer subtypes.

Recent investigations into the tumor microenvironment have provided insights into the limited response of glioma progression to immunotherapy. However, the specific involvement of basic transcription factor 3 like 4 (BTF3L4) in glioma progression and its correlation with immune cell infiltration remain areas of uncertainty that require further exploration. In the current study, BTF3L4 expression was delineated by using gene expression profiling/interactive analysis and multiplex-immunohistologic staining of tissue microarrays.

Background: Transcription factors (TFs) play a crucial role in the occurrence and progression of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), and targeting TFs is an important direction for treating LUAD. However, targeting a single TF often fails to achieve satisfactory therapeutic outcomes. Furthermore, the regulatory TF-target gene networks involved in the development of LUAD is complex and not yet fully understood.

The natural killer (NK) cell population is unique because it consists of innate lymphocytes capable of detecting and eliminating tumors and virus-infected cells. This research aims to identify a new prognostic signal in breast cancer (BRCA) based on NK-cell-related genes (NKRGs). A variety of sequencing and gene mutation data, along with clinical information, were collected from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Database (GEO).

Fibrosis is a process of tissue repair that results in the slow creation of scar tissue to replace healthy tissue and can affect any tissue or organ. Its primary feature is the massive deposition of extracellular matrix (mainly collagen), eventually leading to tissue dysfunction and organ failure. The progression of fibrotic diseases has put a significant strain on global health and the economy, and as a result, there is an urgent need to find some new therapies.

Gastric cancer poses a serious threat to human health and affects the digestive system. The lack of early symptoms and a dearth of effective identification methods make diagnosis difficult, with many patients only receiving a definitive diagnosis at a malignant stage, causing them to miss out on optimal therapeutic interventions. Melanoma-associated antigen-A (MAGE-A) is part of the MAGE family and falls under the cancer/testis antigen (CTA) category.

Combining targeting ability, imaging function, and photothermal/photodynamic therapy into a single agent is highly desired for cancer theranostics. Herein, we developed a one-for-all nanoplatform with N/P/S-codoped fluorescent carbon nanodots (CNDs) for tumor-specific phototheranostics. The CNDs were prepared via a one-pot hydrothermal process using cancer cells as sources of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur.

Backgrounds: The available literature on the correlation between serum amyloid A (SAA) and prognosis of chronic kidney disease (CKD) are limited, and the findings from existing studies are inconclusive. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the available evidence regarding the link between SAA and risks of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in CKD patients. Additionally, we aimed to investigate the potential dose-response relationships, provided that adequate data is accessible.

Background: The application of artificial intelligence patient-controlled analgesia (AI-PCA) facilitates the remote monitoring of analgesia management, the implementation of mobile ward rounds, and the automatic recording of all types of key data in the clinical setting. However, it cannot quantify the quality of postoperative analgesia management. This study aimed to establish an index (analgesia quality index (AQI)) to re-monitor and re-evaluate the system, equipment, medical staff and degree of patient matching to quantify the quality of postoperative pain management through machine learning.

The cell apoptosis pathway of sonodynamic therapy (SDT) is usually blocked, resulting in limited therapeutic efficacy, therefore, the development of new methods for sensitizing targeted ferroptosis and promoting apoptosis is of great significance to improve the anti-tumor efficacy of SDT. Herein, mesoporous Fe O nanoparticles (NPs) are synthesized for loading pyropheophorbide-a (ppa), surface-coated by polydopamine (PDA) and further anchored with tumor-targeting moieties of biotin to obtain Fe/ppa@PDA/B NPs. Fe/ppa@PDA/B displayes pH/ultrasound (US) responsive release properties, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) functions.

Chemotherapy drugs continue to be the main component of oncology treatment research and have been proven to be the main treatment modality in tumor therapy. However, the poor delivery efficiency of cancer therapeutic drugs and their potential off-target toxicity significantly limit their effectiveness and extensive application. The recent integration of biological carriers and functional agents is expected to camouflage synthetic biomimetic nanoparticles for targeted delivery.

Backgrounds: In inflammatory bowel disease microenvironment, transdifferentiation of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) and M2 macrophage accumulation are crucial for the transition of colitis-to-cancer. New insights into the cross-talk and the underling mechanism between MDSCs and M2 macrophage during colitis-to-cancer transition are opening new avenues for colitis-associated cancer (CAC) prevention and treatment.
Methods: The role and underlying mechanism that granulocytic MDSCs (G-MDSCs) or exosomes (Exo) regulates the differentiation of monocytic MDSCs (M-MDSCs) into M2 macrophages were investigated using immunofluorescence, FACS, IB analysis, etc employing siRNA and antibodies.
