Objective: This study aimed to demonstrate a new surgical shear with an integrated energy system (Harmonic ACE®+7) value by determining its effectiveness and economic outcomes compared with conventional ultrasonic shears (CUSs) in a real-world setting.
Methods: This was a retrospective study of adults with prostate cancer undergoing laparoscopic radical prostatectomy with the ACE®+7 shear or CUSs between August 2019 and April 2021 at Shanghai Ruijin Hospital (the headquarters and Luwan Center in China). Demographic and diagnosis information, intraoperative and postoperative clinical outcomes, and total and categorical costs were collected.

The Mediator complex plays a pivotal role in facilitating RNA polymerase II-dependent transcription in eukaryotes. Within this complex, the CDK8 kinase module (CKM), comprising CDK8, Cyclin C (CycC), Med12 and Med13, serves as a dissociable subcomplex that modulates the activity of the small Mediator complex. Genetic studies in Drosophila have revealed distinct phenotypes associated with mutations in CKM subunits, but the underlying mechanisms have remained unclear.

Purpose: This study sought to adapt a chronic pain group curriculum for adults with sickle cell disease (SCD). Given the association of experiences of racism and discrimination with health outcomes, this study also explored how such experiences for patients with SCD impact their interactions with clinicians and health-care systems.
Patients And Methods: This mixed methods study recruited patients (aged ≥18 years) in a sickle cell treatment program; all self-identified as Black or African American.

Background And Objective: The nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) consists of a group of transcription factors of which its dysregulation is responsible for diseases such as inflammation and cancer. Ubiquitin-specific proteases (USPs) are the most prominent group among the deubiquitinases (DUBs). Their functions include control of protein stability and regulation of signaling transduction.

Palliative care (PC) is specialized medical care for people living with a serious illness. PC models have stressed pain and symptom management, communication that is patient- and family-centric and longitudinal support for families living with serious illness that is contiguous across multiple settings. Despite the benefits that PC provides from a patient, family and quality of care standpoint, several barriers and disparities exist.

Purpose: Renal and hematological toxicity are side effects and dose-limiting factors of Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT). We aimed to assess the changes in renal and hematological function and associations with survival in neuroendocrine tumor (NET) patients treated with PRRT.
Methods: A retrospective cohort of 448 NET patients treated with either Lu-DOTATATE or Y-DOTATOC were followed for changes of renal and hematological function.

Lysine deacetylases (KDACs or HDACs) are metal-dependent enzymes that regulate lysine acetylation, a post-translational modification that is present on thousands of human proteins, essential for many cellular processes, and often misregulated in diseases. The selective inhibition of KDACs would allow for understanding of the biological roles of individual KDACs and therapeutic targeting of individual enzymes. Recent studies have suggested that purportedly specific KDAC inhibitors have significant off-target binding, but the biological consequences of off-target binding were not evaluated.

Background & Aims: Epidemiological evidence on ultra-processed food (UPF) and cause-specific mortality remains limited and mixed. Molecular mechanisms underlying UPF intake and mortality remain unexplored. This study aimed to evaluate the associations between UPF consumption, metabolic signatures, and all-cause, premature, and cause-specific mortality.

Worldwide, the COVID-19 pandemic has been influenced by a combination of environmental and sociodemographic drivers. To date, population studies have overwhelmingly focused on the impact of societal factors. In New Mexico, the rate of COVID-19 infection and mortality varied significantly among the state's geographically dispersed, and racially and ethnically diverse populations who are exposed to unique environmental contaminants related to resource extraction industries (e.

Background/objectives: To determine the impact of stereotactic radiosurgery on outcomes of metastatic breast cancer with intracranial metastases.
Methods: We systematically searched the PubMed and EMBASE databases for studies published between 1 January 1990 and 1 August 2024. Primary research articles evaluating the outcomes of stereotactic radiosurgery on intracranial metastases from breast cancer were included.

This study evaluated comparative overall survival (OS) of United States veterans with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC) receiving first-line (1L) atezolizumab plus bevacizumab vs. sorafenib or lenvatinib, overall and across racial and ethnic groups. In this retrospective study, patients with uHCC who initiated atezolizumab plus bevacizumab (post-2020) or sorafenib or lenvatinib (post-2018) were identified from the Veterans Health Administration National Corporate Data Warehouse (1 January 2017-31 December 2022).

Background: Electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy (ENB) and shape-sensing robotic-assisted bronchoscopy (ssRAB) are minimally invasive technologies for the diagnosis of pulmonary nodules. Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) has shown to increase diagnostic yield by allowing real-time confirmation of position of lesion and biopsy tool. There is a lack of comparative studies of such platforms using CBCT guidance to overcome computed tomography to body divergence.

At the time of breast cancer diagnosis, most patients meet the diagnostic criteria to be classified as obese or overweight. This can significantly impact patient outcome: breast cancer patients with obesity (body mass index > 30) have a poorer prognosis compared to patients with a lean BMI. Obesity is associated with hyperleptinemia, and leptin is a well-established driver of metastasis in breast cancer.

The RAB interacting factor (RABIF) is a putative guanine nucleotide exchange factor that also functions as a RAB-stabilizing holdase chaperone. It has been implicated in pathogenesis of several cancers. However, the functional role and molecular mechanism of RABIF in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are not entirely known.

Policy implementation measurement lacks an equity focus, which limits understanding of how policies addressing health inequities, such as Universal School Meals (USM) can elicit intended outcomes. We report findings from an equity-focused measurement development study, which had two aims: (1) identify key constructs related to the equitable implementation of school health policies and (2) establish face and content validity of measures assessing key implementation determinants, processes, and outcomes. : To address Aim 1, study participants (i.
