Background: In an era of precision and stratified medicine, homogeneity in population-based cohorts, stringent causative entry, and pattern analysis of datasets are key elements to investigate medical treatments. Adhering to these principles, we collected and data pointing to an insulin-sensitizing/insulin-mimetic effect of myo-inositol (MYO) relevant to cell regeneration in dentistry and oral surgery. Confirmation of this possibility was obtained by analysis of the relation between and results (the so-called bed-to-benchside reverse translational approach).

Purpose: To assess the survival and complication rates of 115 monolithic zirconia implant-supported fixed complete dental prostheses (IFCDPs) with an up to 6-year follow-up.
Materials And Methods: One hundred fifteen edentulous jaws (71 patients) underwent complete-arch implant treatment with a digital workflow and were rehabilitated with monolithic zirconia IFCDPs. The primary outcome was to assess survival and complication rates while the secondary outcome was to measure the cross-sectional dimensions (prosthetic space) of those 115 monolithic zirconia IFCDPs and to correlate potential technical complications with the prosthetic space dimensions.

During intraoral complete-arch digital implant scanning, one of the most technique-sensitive steps is the implant data acquisition and merging of different surface geometry data sets for prototype prosthesis fabrication due to the absence of fixed landmarks. Recently developed extraoral techniques have allowed for an alternative approach for the digital acquisition of implant position in completely edentulous patients. Specifically, extraoral digital scanning of the conversion prosthesis after connecting reverse scan bodies has been proposed as an efficient approach.

Statement Of Problem: Intraoral scanners (IOSs) can be used to record the maxillomandibular relationship at centric relation (CR). The articulated digital scans can be imported into a dental computer-aided design (CAD) program and used to locate centric occlusion (CO); however, the accuracy of the CO recorded by using IOSs and a dental CAD program remains unknown.
Purpose: The purpose of this clinical study was to compare the position of the CO located by using a conventional method and 4 IOSs combined with a dental CAD program.

Objectives: The present study aimed to synthesize toothpastes containing Beta- TriCalcium Phosphate (β-TCP) nanoparticles, functionalized with fluoride and tin, and test their ability to reduce erosive tooth wear (ETW).
Methods: Toothpastes were synthesized with the following active ingredients: 1100 ppm of fluoride (as sodium fluoride, F), 3500 ppm of tin (as stannous chloride, Sn), and 800 ppm of β-TCP (Sizes a - 20 nm; and b - 100 nm). Enamel specimens were randomly assigned into the following groups (n = 10): 1.

Objectives: To investigate long-term alveolar ridge bone changes in patients treated with the split-crest technique (SCT) with simultaneous implant placement.
Materials And Methods: Alveolar ridge width (ARW) was measured with a caliper immediately before (ARW1) and after SCT (ARW2) with a caliper. Existing CBCT scans taken at least 5 years postoperatively were used to assess the healed ARW (ARWF), buccal bone thickness (BBT), and lingual/palatal bone thickness (L/PBT) at 0, 3, and 5 mm apically from implant platform level (IPL).

Purpose: To determine the effect of restorations with long contact areas for the management of interdental papilla deficiencies, in smile attractiveness among laypersons and dentists.
Material And Methods: A full-portrait image was used to create a set of digitally modified images, simulating the management of various levels of interdental papilla loss. In a total of 48 modified images, single as well as multiple loss of interdental papilla among the anterior teeth, treated with a single or multiple restorations were simulated for unilateral and bilateral situations.

The unique epibiotic-parasitic relationship between type strain TM7x, a member of the newly identified Candidate Phyla Radiation, now referred to as and its basibiont, strain XH001 (formerly , require more powerful genetic tools for deeper understanding of the genetic underpinnings that mediate their obligate relationship. Previous studies have mainly characterized the genomic landscape of XH001 during or post TM7x infection through comparative genomic or transcriptomic analyses followed by phenotypic analysis. Comprehensive genetic dissection of the pair is currently cumbersome due to the lack of robust genetic tools in TM7x.

This integrative review addresses the potential of the Endocannabinoid System (ES) and cannabinoids in the pathogenesis and treatment of periodontal disease (PD). Cannabinoid receptors are expressed in healthy and inflamed periodontal tissues, indicating a potential regulatory role for SEC in oral homeostasis. Healthy periodontal cells express more CB1 receptors, while inflamed sites show increased CB2 receptors.

Pyrogens are fever-inducing substances routinely investigated in health products through tests such as the Rabbit Pyrogen Test (RPT), the Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL), and the Monocyte Activation Test (MAT). However, the applications of the MAT for medical devices and biomaterials remain limited. This work aimed to overview the studies evaluating the pyrogenicity of medical devices and biomaterials using the MAT, highlighting its successes and potential challenges.

SARS-CoV-2, a severe respiratory disease primarily targeting the lungs, was the leading cause of death worldwide during the pandemic. Understanding the interplay between the oral microbiome and inflammatory cytokines during acute infection is crucial for elucidating host immune responses. This study aimed to explore the relationship between the oral microbiome and cytokines in COVID-19 patients, particularly those with and without sputum production.

Introduction: Prior studies have examined the cross-sectional relationship between adolescent sleep and substance use; however, fewer have explored the long-term connections between childhood sleep and adolescent substance use.
Methods: This study investigated both cross-sectional associations during adolescence and prospective associations between childhood weeknight sleep and later alcohol and marijuana use in the Future of Families and Child Wellbeing Study, a diverse national birth cohort of urban children from 20 cities with populations greater than 200,000. Parents reported their child's bedtime at ages 3, 5, and 9 and their child's sleep duration at ages 5 and 9.

Esthetic concerns may appear on implant-supported prostheses after peri-implantitis treatment, such as implantoplasty procedures that includes the thread removal and surface smoothening. A technique for restoring implants that have been treated for peri-implantitis using an implantoplasty procedure combined with the detoxification of the implant surfaces is described. The technique involves the fabrication of an implant-supported prosthesis following the biologically oriented preparation technique (BOPT) and aims to solve esthetic complications after this peri-implantitis treatment approach.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) poses a significant challenge to global health, with its prevalence projected to rise dramatically by 2045. This narrative review explores the bidirectional relationship between periodontitis (PD) and type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), focusing on cellular and molecular mechanisms derived from the interplay between oral microbiota and the host immune response. A comprehensive search of studies published between 2008 and 2023 was conducted to elucidate the association between these two diseases.

Background: Dental students' personalities are strongly correlated with their didactic and clinical performances. With the significant changes in the social environment in the past decades, students' personalities may also change dramatically. Additionally, with the increasing number of international students admitted into US dental programs, educators must pay attention to the potential personality differences between domestic and international students.

The aim of the present study is to investigate the role of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) in mediating the effects of interleukin-1β (IL-1β) on the function of lacrimal gland myoepithelial cells (MECs). MECs isolated from an α-smooth muscle actin-green fluorescent protein (SMA-GFP) transgenic mouse were treated with IL-1β alone or in the presence of SP600125, a JNK inhibitor, or ARP100, an MMP-2 inhibitor. The GFP intensity and the cell size/area were measured, and on day 7, the SMA, calponin, and pro-MMP-2 protein levels and the MEC contraction were assessed.
