Ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) play crucial roles in marine carbon and nitrogen cycles by fixing inorganic carbon and performing the initial step of nitrification. Evaluation of carbon and nitrogen metabolism popularly relies on functional genes such as and . Increasing studies suggest that quorum sensing (QS) mainly studied in biofilms for bacteria may serve as a universal communication and regulatory mechanism among prokaryotes; however, this has yet to be demonstrated in marine planktonic archaea.

However, there remains a shortage of adequate tools and methodologies to accurately quantify differences in population health risks. Therefore, this paper constructs a health performance assessment model that comprises four steps.

Background: As China's population ages, its disease spectrum is changing, and the coexistence of multiple chronic diseases has become the norm with respect to the health status of its elderly population. However, the health institution choices of older patients with multimorbidity in stabilization period remains underresearched. This study investigate the factors influencing the choices of older patients with multimorbidity to provide references for the rational allocation of healthcare resources.

Wastewater biotreatment systems harbor a rich diversity of microorganisms, and the effectiveness of biotreatment systems largely depends on the activity of these microorganisms. Specifically, viruses play a crucial role in altering microbial behavior and metabolic processes throughout their infection phases, an aspect that has recently attracted considerable interest. Two metagenomic approaches, viral-like particle-concentrated (VPC, representing free viral-like particles) and non-concentrated (NC, representing the cellular fraction), were employed to assess their efficacy in revealing virome characteristics, including taxonomy, diversity, host interactions, lifestyle, dynamics, and functional genes across processing units of three wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs).

Proteolysis-targeting chimeras (PROTACs) are essential bifunctional molecules that target proteins of interest (POIs) for degradation by cellular ubiquitination machinery. Despite significant progress made in understanding PROTACs' functions, their therapeutic potential remains largely untapped. As a result of the success of highly flexible, scalable, and low-cost mRNA therapies, as well as the advantages of the first generation of peptide PROTACs (p-PROTACs), we present for the first time an engineering mRNA PROTACs (m-PROTACs) strategy.

Contactin-associated protein-like 4 (Cntnap4) is critical for GABAergic transmission in the brain. Impaired Cntnap4 function is implicated in neurological disorders, such as autism; however, the role of Cntnap4 on memory processing is poorly understood. Here, we demonstrate that hippocampal deficiency in female mice manifests as impaired cognitive function and synaptic plasticity.

Forecasting based on factors influencing YF risk can improve efficiency in prevention. This study aimed to produce weekly forecasts of YF occurrence and incidence in Brazil using weekly meteorological and ecohydrological conditions.

Increasing the accuracy of cancer prognosis is critical to reducing the high mortality rates in cancer patients. Here, we report that the electrostatic potential difference (EPD) between tumor and its paratumor tissue is a prognostic marker for tumor spread.

We have compared our results with a global gridded and hourly inventory.

In the first case, Pt/MnO-r-WI catalyst showed a better performance than that of Pt/MnO-r-IW. The test results illustrated that Wetness Impregnation (WI) could enhance the dispersion of Pt, ratios of Mn/Mn, O/O and Pt/Pt as compared to those of Incipient Wetness Impregnation (IW).

This study aimed to explore the impact of n-3 PUFA-enriched fish oil (n-3 PUFA-FO) on UVB-induced sunburns and subsequent healing. Sixty C57BL/6 female mice were divided into two groups.

The discovery of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats and CRISPR-associated protein 9 (CRISPR-Cas9) technology has brought advances in the genetic manipulation of eukaryotic cells, which has revolutionised cancer research and treatment options. It is increasingly being used in cancer immunotherapy, including adoptive T and natural killer (NK) cell transfer, secretion of antibodies, cytokine stimulation and overcoming immune checkpoints. CRISPR-Cas9 technology is used in autologous T cells and NK cells to express various innovative antigen designs and combinations of chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) targeted at specific antigens for haematological and solid tumors.

The decay in capacity has hindered the applications of vanadium redox flow batteries (VFBs), which are promising energy storage devices with many benefits. Mixing positive and negative electrolytes can recover some of the lost capacity but is ineffective towards the increasing average valence of the mixed electrolyte caused by the side reactions. In this study, a low-cost optical average valence detector has been developed to monitor the average valence of the mixed electrolyte in VFBs.
