Human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-derived cardiac organoids can be used to model human heart development and cardiovascular disease, and provide therapeutic cells to repair the heart. We used single-cell transcriptome analysis to dissect the development of 3D mini-cardiac organoids (MCOs) consisting of hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes, and endothelial and smooth muscle cells. We found that the 3D matrix-rich microenvironment significantly promoted the maturation of cardiomyocytes, and mixing endothelial and smooth muscle cells with cardiomyocytes led to the formation of cardiac fibroblast highly expressing .

How to raise donations effectively, especially in the E-era, has puzzled fundraisers and scientists across various disciplines. Our research focuses on donation-based crowdfunding projects and investigates how the emotional valence expressed verbally (in textual descriptions) and visually (in facial images) in project descriptions affects project performance. Study 1 uses field data (N = 3817), grabs project information and descriptions from a top donation-based crowdfunding platform, computes visual and verbal emotional valence using a deep-learning-based affective computing method and analyses how multimodal emotional valence influences donation outcomes.

Hydrogels demonstrate effective lubricating properties, but the underlying mechanisms at the nanoscale remain elucidated. In this study, a novel strategy is proposed by fabricating the hydrogel probes compatible with atomic force microscopy (AFM) to establish a superlubrication system based on the hydration interactions. The probe is made of polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA)-based hydrogel microspheres, which can achieve an extremely low friction coefficient of 0.

Current lithium batteries experience significant performance degradation under extreme temperature conditions, both high and low. Traditional wide-temperature electrolyte designs typically addressed these challenges by manipulating the solvation sheath and selecting solvents with extreme melting/boiling points. However, these solvent-mediated solutions, while effective at one temperature extreme, invariably fail at the opposite end due to the inherent difficulties in maintaining solvent stability across wide temperatures.

The takeover issue, especially the setting of the takeover time budget, is a critical factor restricting the implementation and development of conditionally automated vehicles. The general fixed takeover time budget has certain limitations, as it does not take into account the driver's non-driving behaviors. Here, we propose an intelligent takeover assistance system consisting of all-round sensing gloves, a non-driving behavior identification module, and a takeover time budget determination module.

The unsatisfactory ionic conductivity of solid polymer electrolytes hinders their practical use as substitutes for liquid electrolytes to address safety concerns. Although various plasticizers have been introduced to improve lithium-ion conduction kinetics, the lack of microenvironment understanding impedes the rational design of high-performance polymer electrolytes. Here, we design a class of Hofmann complexes that offer continuous two-dimensional lithium-ion conduction channels with functional ligands, creating highly conductive electrolytes.

In this paper, a novel recursive hierarchical parametric identification method based on initial value optimization is proposed for Wiener-Hammerstein systems subject to stochastic measurement noise. By transforming the traditional Wiener-Hammerstein system model into a generalized form, the system model parameters are uniquely expressed for estimation. To avoid cross-coupling between estimating block-oriented model parameters, a hierarchical identification algorithm is presented by dividing the parameter vector into two subvectors containing the coupled and uncoupled terms for estimation, respectively.
