Introduction: Several cardiovascular outcome trials have been conducted to assess the cardiovascular safety and efficacy of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP1-RAs) on cardiorenal outcomes in patients with type-2 diabetes (T2D). However, the strict requirements of randomised controlled trials to avoid most confounding factors are at the expense of external validity. Using national real-world data, we aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of GLP-1RAs in association with metformin especially on cardiovascular events, hospitalisation for heart failure and all-cause death in comparison with other diabetes treatment schemes using dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitors, sulfonylureas/glinides or insulin also associated with metformin.

Adverse neonatal outcomes following in utero antipsychotic exposure remain unclear. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate associations between in utero first- and second-generation antipsychotic exposure and various neonatal outcomes. The primary outcome was small for gestational age.

Background: There are few data assessing the risk of death and cardiovascular events in patients with lymphoma.
Aim: Using a nationwide hospitalization database, we aimed to address cardiovascular outcomes in patients with lymphoma.
Methods: From 01 January to 31 December 2013, 3,381,472 adults were hospitalized in French hospitals; 22,544 of these patients had a lymphoma.

Purpose: The primary objective was to evaluate the impact of necrotising enterocolitis (NEC) and spontaneous intestinal perforation (SIP) on mortality and neurodevelopmental outcomes at 2Â years' corrected age (CA) in infants born before 32Â weeks' gestation (WG).
Methods: We studied neurodevelopment at 2Â years' CA of infants with NEC or SIP who were born before 32 WG from the EPIPAGE-2 cohort study. The primary outcome was death or the presence of moderate-to-severe motor or sensory disability defined by moderate-to-severe cerebral palsy or hearing or visual disability.

Around 10% of patients with acute coronary syndrome are treated by vitamin K antagonists or non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants for various indications. The initial management of these patients is highly complex, and new guidelines specify that, only during percutaneous coronary intervention, a bolus of unfractionated heparin is recommended in one of the following circumstances: (1) if the patient is receiving a non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulant; or (2) if the international normalized ratio is<2.5 in a patient being treated with a vitamin K antagonist.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is often associated with limiting symptoms, and with significant impairment in quality of life. As such, treatment strategies aimed at symptom control form an important pillar of AF management. Such treatments include a wide variety of drugs and interventions, including, increasingly, catheter ablation.

Background And Objective: Variants in surfactant genes SFTPC or ABCA3 are responsible for interstitial lung disease (ILD) in children and adults, with few studies in adults.
Methods: We conducted a multicentre retrospective study of all consecutive adult patients diagnosed with ILD associated with variants in SFTPC or ABCA3 in the French rare pulmonary diseases network, OrphaLung. Variants and chest computed tomography (CT) features were centrally reviewed.

Sustainability in healthcare, particularly within the domain of cardiac electrophysiology, assumes paramount importance for the near future. The escalating environmental constraints encountered necessitate a proactive approach. This position paper aims to raise awareness among physicians, spark critical inquiry and identify potential solutions to enhance the sustainability of our practice.

Background: Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators reduce mortality, but the electric shocks delivered can impact the patient's quality of life. Patient education is an efficient way to reduce the stress related to both the device and the disease.
Aims: We assessed the evolution of knowledge and satisfaction of implantable cardioverter-defibrillator recipients regarding their cardiac disease, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implantation, follow-up complications, remote monitoring and daily life recommendations.

A 66-year-old man with a history of catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation presented with purulent cardiac tamponade, revealing an atrio-oesophageal fistula. He underwent successful endoscopic management. A few days later, the patient fell into a sudden coma due to multiple cerebral air embolisms, resulting from a fistula between the esophagus and the right superior pulmonary vein.

Background: Niemann-Pick disease type C (NP-C) is a rare neurovisceral lysosomal lipid storage disease characterized by progressive neurodegeneration and premature death. While miglustat can stabilize neurological manifestations in later onset forms of NP-C, its efficacy in the early-infantile neurological form has not been demonstrated. In this observational retrospective study, we compared long-term neurodevelopmental outcome and survival between an untreated and a treated group of early infantile NP-C patients.

Background: Advances in surgical and neonatal care have led to improved survival of patients with Ĺ“sophageal atresia (OA) over time. Morbidity remains significant, with one-third of patients being affected by a postoperative complication. Several aspects of management are not consensual, such as the use of Ĺ“sophagogram before starting oral feeding.

Myocardial infarction is rare in children, teenagers and young adults (aged<20 years). The most common aetiologies identified include Kawasaki disease, familial hypercholesterolaemia, collagen vascular disease-induced coronary arteritis, substance abuse (cocaine, glue sniffing), trauma, complications of congenital heart disease surgery, genetic disorders (such as progeria), coronary artery embolism, occult malignancy and several other rare conditions. Nephrotic syndrome is a very rare cause of myocardial infarction, but it is probably underestimated.

Aims: In a recent position paper, the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) proposed an algorithm for the screening and management of arrhythmias using digital devices. In patients with prior stroke, a systematic screening approach for atrial fibrillation (AF) should always be implemented, preferably immediately after the event. Patients with increasing age and with specific cardiovascular or non-cardiovascular comorbidities are also deemed to be at higher risk.

Background: Posterolateral rotatory instability (PLRI) is the most frequent form of both acute and chronic elbow instability. It is due to mechanical incompetence of the lateral collateral ligament. O'Driscoll et al described treatment of this instability by autologous reconstruction of the lateral ulnar collateral ligament.

Background: Posterolateral instability is the most frequent form of both acute and chronic elbow instability. Joint incongruity due to posterolateral unlocking leads to shear and compression stress of the internal aspect of the humeroulnar joint. We carried out long-term analysis of patients with posterolateral elbow instability in order to determine whether, in addition to improving their symptoms, reconstruction of the lateral collateral ligament complex may play a protective role against the development of post-traumatic osteoarthritis.

Background: We aimed to evaluate different measures of adverse cardiovascular events between non-traumatic intracranial hemorrhage (ICrH) and ischemic stroke (IS) survivors with and without atrial fibrillation (AF).
Methods: Using a national hospitalization database we compared incidences and risks of all-cause in-hospital death, cardiovascular death, non-cardiovascular death, MACE-HF (in-hospital cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, IS or new-onset heart failure [HF]) between ICrH and IS survivors with and without AF. Propensity-score matching was also performed.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) and cancer are frequently coexisting in elderly patients. Pooled metanalytic data on the impact of cancer on clinical outcomes in AF patients are lacking. We performed a systematic review and meta-regression analysis of clinical studies retrieved from Medline (PubMed) and Cochrane (CENTRAL) databases according to PRISMA guidelines.
