The antigen-targeting to dendritic cells (DCs) has gained increasing attention as the potential approach for immunotherapy in recent years due to the ability of DCs to regulate innate and adaptive immunity. In the present study, the immunogenicity and protective efficiency of mannan-decorated PLGA nanoparticles (NPs) loaded with multi-epitopes mycobacterium tuberculosis antigen (HspX-Ppe44-EsxV) were evaluated as a targeted delivery system to DCs. For this purpose, PLGA nanoparticle formulations were prepared and subsequently decorated by mannan.

The human gut microbiome is a dynamic and intricate ecosystem, composed of trillions of microorganisms that play a pivotal role in maintaining overall health and well-being. However, the gut microbiome is constantly exposed to various environmental factors, including the bile produced by the liver, which can significantly impact its composition and function. Bile acids, secreted by the liver and stored in the gallbladder, modulate the gut microbiome, influencing its composition and function.

Mitochondrial missense mutations and pathogenic variants have been implicated in the pathogenesis of COVID-19. This study evaluated the role of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutations and changes in gene expression in the progression of COVID-19 and their correlation with clinical characteristics. Next-generation sequencing with high throughput was used to identify mtDNA mutations in 30 COVID-19 patients compared to 20 healthy controls.

Metabolic syndrome (MetS), comprising obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, and dyslipidemia, increases the risk of type II diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. This study aimed to identify the prevalence and determinants of specific clusters of the MetS components and tobacco consumption among older adults in Iran. The current study was conducted in the second stage of the Bushehr Elderly Health (BEH) program in southern Iran-a population-based cohort including 2424 subjects aged ≥ 60 years.

Hepatitis C, caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV), is a prevalent liver disease with severe outcomes, including cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Traditional diagnostic methods primarily detect antiviral antibodies (anti-HCV) or viral RNA, but these approaches have limitations. Anti-HCV antibodies may take 2-4 weeks to develop in acute cases and can be absent in some individuals, leading to undiagnosed early-stage infections.
