Background: Salidroside (SDS), a phenylpropanoid glycoside, is an antioxidant component isolated from the traditional Chinese medicine and has multifunctional bioactivities, particularly possessing potent hepatoprotective function. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is one of the most prevalent chronic liver diseases worldwide, but it still lacks efficient drugs. This study aimed to assess the preventive and therapeutic effects of SDS on NASH and its underlying mechanisms in a mouse model subjected to a methionine- and choline-deficient (MCD) diet.

Organoid technology has been developed rapidly in the past decade, which involves the exploration of the mechanism of development, regeneration and various diseases, and intersects among multiple disciplines. Thousands of literature on 3D-culture or organoids have been published in the research areas of cell biology tissue engineering, nanoscience, oncology and so on, resulting in it being challenging for researchers to timely summarize these studies. Bibliometric statistics is a helpful way to help researchers clarify the above issues efficiently and manage the whole landscape systematically.

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a subset of cells with self-renewal ability and tumor generating potential. Accumulated evidence has revealed that CSCs were shown to contribute to tumorigenesis, metastasis, recurrence and resistance to chemoradiotherapy. Therefore, CSCs were regarded as promising therapeutic targets in cancer.

Background: Hepatobiliary cancer (HBC), including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and biliary tract cancer (BTC), is currently one of the malignant tumors that mainly cause human death. Many HBCs are diagnosed in the late stage, which increases the disease burden, indicating that effective prevention strategies and identification of risk factors are urgent. Many studies have reported the role of thyroid hormones on HBC.

Cancer is the most common cause of human death worldwide, posing a serious threat to human health and having a negative impact on the economy. In the past few decades, significant progress has been made in anticancer therapies, but traditional anticancer therapies, including radiation therapy, surgery, chemotherapy, molecular targeted therapy, immunotherapy and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), have serious side effects, low specificity, and the emergence of drug resistance. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop new treatment methods to improve efficacy and reduce side effects.

With the widespread application of colorectal cancer screening, the surveillance and management of the increasing number of screened population has become a pivotal aspect in preventing and controlling colorectal cancer. In recent years, researches have been conducted on the risk of colorectal cancer incidence and mortality in the population after screening. At the same time, various organizations in Europe and the United States have continuously updated colonoscopy surveillance after screening and polypectomy based on the latest research evidence.

The liver is the most common and lethal metastatic site in patients with extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC), and median survival with current standard treatment is only 9-10 months from diagnosis. Clinical observations show that a complete response (CR) is extremely rare in ES-SCLC patients with liver metastasis. Moreover, to the best of our knowledge, complete regression of liver metastasis induced by the abscopal effect, boosted primarily by permanent radioactive iodine-125 seeds implantation (PRISI), combined with a low-dose metronomic temozolomide (TMZ) regimen, has not been recorded.

Background: Since 4 major diseases and geriatric diseases require consistent management, individuals with any of these diseases cannot live alone and need caregivers' assistance. Given these characteristics, an integrative medical service model for 4 major diseases and geriatric diseases was developed in Korea, currently. Dementia, one of the typical geriatric diseases, requires caregivers' assistance from the beginning because of its enormous burden.

Background: Stool DNA test has been emerged as an effective noninvasive method for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening, but the real-world performance of stool DNA test in Chinese population has rarely been reported.
Methods: A total of 36,527 subjects were recruited in Haining City from January 2021 to December 2021. Participants underwent primary screening by taking both two-samples fecal immunochemical tests (FITs) and high-risk factor questionnaire (HRFQ), and those who tested either positive by FITs or evaluated to be high risk by HRFQ were recommended to undertake subsequent stool DNA test and colonoscopy.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the commonest reason for chronic liver diseases in the world and is commonly related to the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a deteriorating form of NAFLD, which can eventually develop into fibrosis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. The reason for NAFLD/NASH development is complicated, such as liver lipid metabolism, oxidative stress, inflammatory response, apoptosis and autophagy, liver fibrosis and gut microbiota.

We aimed to compare the effectiveness of some different acupuncture modalities on motor function using the unified Parkinson disease rating scale (UPDRS)-III scores of idiopathic Parkinson's disease (PD) via pairwise and network meta-analyses (NMA) of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The Cochrane risk of bias assessment tool was used to assess the methodological quality of the included RCTs. A frequentist approach-based random effect model NMA was performed.

Patients with conventional adenoma removal are recommended to undergo colonoscopy surveillance to prevent colorectal cancer (CRC). However, evidence supporting the guidelines of colonoscopy surveillance is limited, especially among the Chinese population. We investigated the association between colonoscopy adenoma findings and CRC risk among individuals aged 40 to 74 years who underwent baseline colonoscopy from 2007 to 2016 in Jiashan and Haining, Zhejiang, China; 34 382 participants were categorized into advanced adenoma, nonadvanced adenoma and no adenoma based on adenoma findings.

The incidence of strokes in individuals in their 30-40 s-who have responsibilities towards their families-has increased. Additionally, many stroke patients suffer from post-stroke disabilities and require rehabilitation. However, especially in younger stroke patients, factors such as financial burden and the inability to be productive lead to depression and thereby, the lack of rehabilitation motivation-which affects their therapeutic outcomes.

Background: Stroke is one of the major causes of disability and death worldwide. Some treatments for stroke exist, but existing treatment methods have limitations such as difficulty in the regeneration of damaged neuronal cells of the brain. Recently, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been studied as a therapeutic alternative for stroke, and various preclinical and case studies have been reported.

The United States is in the midst of a devastating overdose and addiction crisis involving opioids as well as other drugs. Yet, despite the existence of effective treatments for opioid use disorder, only a minority of people who need treatment for this or other substance use disorders receive it. Besides the terrible human and economic costs of overdose deaths and the other health consequences of addiction, untreated substance use has wide-ranging impacts across health care.
