Their differentiation is crucial for patient management but can be complex due to diseases with features of both categories and overlapping radiological patterns.
Objective: This study aims to describe the imaging features of cystic and nodular lung diseases in high-resolution computed tomography (CT) in detail-primarily based on their etiology-in order to allow a more accurate differential diagnosis of these diseases.

Purpose Of Review: To provide a comprehensive overview of the underlying genetic defects of pulmonary (vascular) diseases and novel treatment avenues.
Recent Findings: Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is the prime example of a pulmonary vascular disease, which can be caused by genetic mutations in some patients. Germline mutations in the BMPR2 gene and further genes lead to vessel remodelling, increase of pulmonary vascular resistance and onset of heritable PAH.

Novel matrix pencil decomposition MRI (MP-MRI) enables quantification of lung perfusion and ventilation without intravenous contrast agent administration.

Background: Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is a rare genetic disorder caused by the malfunction of motile cilia and a specific etiology of adult bronchiectasis of unknown prevalence. A better understanding of the clinical phenotype of adults with PCD is needed to identify individuals for referral to diagnostic testing.
Research Question: What is the frequency of PCD among adults with bronchiectasis; how do people with PCD differ from those with other etiologies; and which clinical characteristics are independently associated with PCD?
Study Design And Methods: We investigated the proportion of PCD among the participants of the Prospective German Non-CF-Bronchiectasis Registry (PROGNOSIS) study; applied multiple imputation to account for missing data in 64 (FEV), 58 (breathlessness), 26 (pulmonary exacerbations), and two patients (BMI), respectively; and identified predictive variables from baseline data using multivariate logistic regression analysis.

Introduction: Application of vapour ablation as a novel approach to lung volume reduction has positive effects in patients with severe emphysema. The BENTO study is a randomised, controlled, open, multicentre trial, to assess the effects of bronchoscopic thermal vapour ablation (BTVA) in the German healthcare system.
Methods And Analysis: Patients with bilateral heterogeneous emphysema of the upper lobes in Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) stage 3/4 will be enrolled in this trial and will receive either standard medical management alone (according to GOLD guidelines) or BTVA treatment with the InterVapor system together with standard medical management.

ALK-positive NSCLC patients demonstrate initial responses to ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatments, but eventually develop resistance, causing rapid tumor relapse and poor survival rates. Growing evidence suggests that the combination of drug and immune therapies greatly improves patient survival; however, due to the low immunogenicity of the tumors, ALK-positive patients do not respond to currently available immunotherapies. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) play a crucial role in facilitating lung cancer growth by suppressing tumoricidal immune activation and absorbing chemotherapeutics.
