Purpose: Chronic osteomyelitis with large bone defects remains a challenging condition in orthopedic surgery. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of hemicorticotomy bone transport assisted by 3D-printed customized guides in the treatment of chronic osteomyelitis with bone defects.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 21 patients with chronic osteomyelitis treated with hemicorticotomy bone transport with 3D-printed guide assistance between January 2015 and January 2021.

Aims: This study aimed to compare the clinical effectiveness of intramedullary nailing (IMN), percutaneous external plate fixation (PEPF), and re-applied external fixation (REF) in the treatment of refracture at the consolidated docking site following the removal of external fixation in patients with tibial defects who had previously undergone the Ilizarov bone transport technique.

Methods: A retrospective review was performed on patients who received IMN, PEPF, or REF for refracture at the consolidated docking site subsequent to the removal of external fixation. A collection of data was made regarding the following parameters: age, gender, defect size, treatment methods, external fixation time (EFT), external fixation index (EFI), time of refracture (TOR) subsequent to fixation removal, and docking reunion time (DRT).

Purpose: The objective of this study was to evaluate and compare the effectiveness and clinical results of trifocal bone transport (TBT) and pentafocal bone transport (PBT) in treating distal tibial defects > 6 cm resulting from posttraumatic osteomyelitis, highlighting the potential advantages and challenges of each method.

Methods: A retrospective assessment was conducted on an overall population of 46 eligible patients with distal tibial defects > 6 cm who received treatment between January 2015 and January 2019. Propensity score analysis was used to pair 10 patients who received TBT with 10 patients who received PBT.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study introduces a new surgical strategy for common peroneal nerve (CPN) injuries that aims to improve recovery outcomes compared to traditional methods like direct suturing, which has had poorer postoperative results.
  • - The research involved analyzing 37 patients who underwent the modified surgical procedure, showing significant improvement in lower limb functionality reflected in better scores on the lower extremity functional scale after two years.
  • - Findings indicate that the one-stage neurorrhaphy and nerve wrapping technique using a gastrocnemius fascial flap leads to favorable recovery, establishing it as a promising treatment option for CPN ruptures.

The restoration of nerve dysfunction after traumatic brain injury (TBI) faces huge challenges due to the limited self-regenerative abilities of nerve tissues. inductive recovery can be achieved utilizing biological scaffolds combined with endogenous human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (HUCMSCs)-derived exosomes (MExos). In this study, brain-derived neurotrophic factor-stimulated HUCMSCs-derived exosomes (BMExos) were composited with collagen/chitosan by 3D printing technology.

To study the effects of Tui Na therapy on patients with mammary gland hyperplasia.A total of 68 female patients with mammary gland hyperplasia were included in this retrospective study from May 2016 to May 2017 and assigned into control group (N = 34) treated with Rupixiao only (a proprietary Chinese medicine) or Tui Na group (N = 34) treated with Tui Na (Chinese massage) combined with Rupixiao. The pain intensity (visual analogous scale, VAS) and serum levels of luteinizing hormone (LH), estradiol (E2), prolactin (PRL), and progesterone (P) were examined before and after the treatment.

Background: Previous clinical studies have reported that full field digital mammography (FFDM) can be used for diagnosis on breast cancer (BC) with promising outcome results. However, no study systematically investigates its diagnostic impact on female patients with BC. Thus, this systematic review will assess the accurate of FFDM diagnosis on BC.
