Background: Blunted nocturnal blood pressure (BP) reduction, referred to as non-dipper hypertension, is a strong predictor of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between non-dipper hypertension and the severity and complexity of coronary artery disease using SYNTAX score in hospitalized patients with acute coronary syndrome.
Methods: A total of 306 consecutive patients with acute coronary syndrome were screened.

Background: Atrial fibrillation is a form of arrhythmia that frequently occurs after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Psychological factors may be involved in the development of atrial fibrillation, although the specific effect of anxiety remains unclear.
Purpose: This study was designed to evaluate the relationship between preoperative anxiety levels and atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass graft surgery.

The cardiac sequelae of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a worldwide global pandemic, are still uncertain, particularly in the asymptomatic, low cardiac risk outpatient population. This study aims to evaluate the asymptomatic, low cardiac risk out-patient population who recently recovered from COVID-19, using 2-D left ventricular-global longitudinal strain (LV-GLS) proven to be capable of detecting subclinical myocardial injury. Out of 305 COVID-19 positive patients, 70 asymptomatic out-patients were determined as the study group and 70 age and sex-matched healthy adults as the control group.

Background And Objectives: We aimed to investigate the effects of two different anesthetic techniques in our patients who underwent transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).
Methods: In this study, 303 patients who underwent TAVI procedure with a diagnosis of severe aortic stenosis between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2018 were retrospectively evaluated. The patients were divided according to the type of anesthesia given during each procedure as; general anesthesia (GA), local anesthesia (LA).

Background: Early diagnosis of diffuse alveolar haemorrhage (DAH) can be extremely difficult, as the common clinical picture is often attributed to more common clinical conditions. High degree of suspicion is key to diagnosis which can be much more difficult during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Case Summary: A 61-year-old man with inferolateral ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction treated by a stent to the left circumflex artery and intravenous abciximab treatment was started for the high thrombus burden.

Objective: To compare immediate postoperative results in patients receiving heparin-albumin-coated and non-coated circuits.
Methods: A total of 241 patients undergoing on-pump cardiac surgery were divided into two groups: those receiving heparin-coated circuits (Bioline®, Maquet Cardiopulmonary AG., Hirrlingen, Germany) and those receiving non-coated circuits (Maquet Cardiopulmonary AG.

Background: Inspiratory muscle training (IMT) and oropharyngeal exercises (OE) have different advantages and disadvantages and a comparison of these modalities has been recommended. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of IMT and OE on important outcomes for patients with OSAS.
Methods: This was a randomized controlled clinical trial.
Background: New-onset atrial fibrillation (AF) is a frequent cause of presentation to the emergency department (ED). Epicardial fat thickness (EFT) is associated with the presence and recurrence of AF. However, no study has investigated the predictors of the time to conversion of AF to sinus rhythm with amiodarone therapy.

A 49-year-old female patient with hypertension was admitted with an intraabdominal murmur and referred for multidetector computed tomography angiography for suspected renal artery stenosis. Her medical history, clinical examination, serum biochemistry, and ultrasound examination findings showed no pathological findings of diabetes mellitus or any other disease. Axial and coronal reformatted multidetector computed tomography angiography revealed a dilated accessory polar renal vein which drained the venous circulation of the left lower pole into the inferior vena cava at midline.

Background: Since aortic valve sclerosis (AVS) and coronary artery disease (CAD) share similar cardiovascular risk factors, we hypothesized that the clinical profile of patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) would be worse in the presence of AVS. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between AVS and clinical factors in patients with AMI.
Methods: Three hundred and fifteen patients with AMI were consecutively enrolled in the study.

Background: This study aims to investigate the effects of various anticoagulant regimens on prosthetic valve-related complications and pregnancy outcomes including feto-maternal mortality and morbidity, and to identify the most optimal anticoagulation therapy regimen.
Methods: Anticoagulant therapy regimens for pregnant women who underwent mechanical heart valve replacement between January 1990 and December 2015 was analyzed retrospectively. Seventy-two pregnancies among 57 patients after mechanical heart valve replacement were reviewed, and four different regimens were identified and evaluated during different trimesters of pregnancy.

Comfort, a concept associated with the art of nursing, is important for reducing the negative impact of hospitalization in a coronary care unit (CCU). Providing nursing interventions that ensure patient comfort is important for patients to respond positively to treatment. To determine the factors affecting comfort and the comfort levels of patients hospitalized in the CCU.

Background: There are few reports demonstrating a relationship between presystolic wave (PSW) and left ventricular function. The aim of the present study was to investigate the associations between PSW and angiographic and echocardiographic characteristics of patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Methods: We studied 348 consecutive patients with AMI.

Background: GRACE risk score (GS) is a scoring system which has a prognostic significance in patients with non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (non-STEMI).
Objective: The present study aimed to determine whether end-systolic or end-diastolic epicardial fat thickness (EFT) is more closely associated with high-risk non-STEMI patients according to the GS.
Methods: We evaluated 207 patients who had non-STEMI beginning from October 2012 to February 2013, and 162 of them were included in the study (115 males, mean age: 66.

Background: Stiffness of large arteries has been related to cardiovascular mortality. The cardioankle vascular index (CAVI) is a novel parameter of arterial stiffness. The main aim of the present study was to investigate the association between presystolic wave (PSW) on left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) and CAVI.

Background: CHA2DS2-VASc score is the most widely preferred method for prediction of stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation. We hypothesized that CHA2DS2-VASc score may represent atrial remodeling status, and therefore echocardiographic evaluation of left atrial electromechanical remodeling can be used to identify patients with high risk.
Methods: A total of 65 patients who had documented diagnosis of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) were divided into three risk groups according to the CHA2DS2-VASc score: patients with low risk (score=0, group 1), with moderate risk (score=1, group 2), and with high risk score (score ≥2, group 3).

Objective: The level of right ventricular (RV) systolic function has prognostic importance in right ventricular ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (RV-STEMI). This study aimed to evaluate the changes in RV systolic function in patients with RV-STEMI according to the revascularisation method used for their management.
Methods: The first group consisted of 132 patients who received primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI).

Background: Cardiac syndrome X (CSX) is defined as normal coronary arteries with angina pectoris and a positive stress test. Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) plays an important role in inflammatory process in cardiovascular system, therefore EAT may affect the pathogenesis of different cardiovascular disease. Atherosclerosis is the most important cause of acute coronary syndromes. The mediators that trigger vasospasm, including endothelin and serotonin, are synthesized and secreted into circulation from atherosclerotic plaques and surrounding tissues. A 68-year-old man was hospitalized due to acute coronary syndrome four times in a one-year period.
