Introduction: The aim of the study was to evaluate the macular thickness of glaucomatous patients undergoing trabeculectomy (TREC) with mitomycin C (MMC) with or without the use of prostaglandin analog (PA) eye drops.
Methods: In this prospective, comparative clinical trial, patients with glaucoma and indications for TREC with MMC using PA and without previous macular changes were randomized into 2 groups: the study group (SG) and the control group (CG). In the CG, PA was suspended between 30 and 60 days after the preoperative exams.

Surgical skill training in ophthalmology is pivotal for ensuring optimal and safe patient outcomes. Access to traditional training resources such as cadaveric or animal eyes, as well as modern alternatives such as silicone eyeballs and simulators, remains limited, especially in resource-constrained settings. We present a series of innovative and low-cost do-it-yourself (DIY) models for glaucoma training using readily available hospital waste materials.

Purpose: To investigate the real-world efficacy of a novel, low-cost glaucoma drainage device in canine and human patients.
Methods: A retrospective case series of 17 eyes in 14 canines and one eye of a human patient who each underwent novel drainage device implantation is described. This device was constructed by insertion and advancement of a 24-gauge cannula (canine) or 23-gauge cannula (human) perpendicularly through five adjacent tubes of a 25-mm Yeates surgical drain.

Importance: Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) is becoming the recommended first choice in the treatment of open-angle glaucoma (OAG). However, whether repeat SLT can be recommended regardless of initial response remains controversial.
Objective: To assess the potential of OAG and ocular hypertension (OHT) undergoing repeat laser to respond favorably to SLT, termed responsiveness to SLT.

Purpose: To study the different subtypes of glaucoma and to analyze the demographic and clinical profile of glaucoma patients along with associated risk factors in a multi-locational North Indian study.
Methods: Newly diagnosed and known glaucoma patients on treatment were enrolled in the study. Complete history was taken, and clinical evaluation was done by senior glaucoma experts.
Prcis: This study concludes that GATT can be an effective and safe surgical alternative for managing IOP in eyes with prior failed glaucoma surgeries, associated with minimal complications.
Purpose: To report outcomes of gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy (GATT) in eyes with prior failed glaucoma surgery.
Patients And Methods: A retrospective study involving 30 eyes of 30 patients, all of whom had open angles on gonioscopy, experienced prior glaucoma surgery failures, and subsequently underwent GATT.

Purpose: Comparing the effect of standard trabeculectomy with direct sutures versus trabeculectomy with compression and everting sutures.
Methods: Mono-centric randomized prospective comparative study on 38 glaucomatous eyes undergoing trabeculectomy: 19 with standard fixed sutures (group A) and 19 withremovable regulating sutures (group B). Preoperatively and at day-7, 1-month, 2-months, 3-months and 6-months after surgery, we recorded best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure (IOP) and possible complications.

Prcis: Patients' acceptance of glaucoma therapy was high overall in this study, but lower for surgery than for laser or medical therapy. Fear and cost were the leading reasons why patients declined recommended therapy and they were treatment-specific. Cost was the primary reason for declining medical and laser therapy, while fear was the most common reason for declining surgical therapy.

Purpose: To describe the use of an amniotic membrane graft (AMG) with fibrin sealant to address an overfiltering trabeculectomy flap encountered intraoperatively.
Observations: A 35-year-old female with severe primary open angle glaucoma underwent trabeculectomy with mitomycin C due to uncontrolled intraocular pressure (IOP). Intraoperatively, the elastic nature of the scleral flap led to overfiltration, causing persistent anterior chamber shallowing despite numerous sutures.

One of the most impactful recent developments in the glaucoma community has been the concept of interventional glaucoma. In brief, this paradigm shift involves proactive rather than reactive intervention to address glaucoma earlier in the disease process, including in both standalone and combination-cataract settings. By intervening earlier with minimally invasive surgical, laser, or drug-delivery treatments instead of prolonged topical medications, interventional glaucoma aims to take the burden of medication compliance off the patient.

: To compare the efficacy and safety of trabeculectomy with a collagen matrix implant (Ologen) versus trabeculectomy with mitomycin C (MMC) versus trabeculectomy with both Ologen and MMC (OLO + MMC). This non-randomized study included 119 eyes of 101 patients with uncontrolled open-angle glaucoma who underwent trabeculectomy, either alone or combined with phacoemulsification. The data were initially recorded following a standard surgical protocol, using an electronic database with structured fields.

Purpose: The Rho-associated protein kinase and myosin light chain kinase (ROCK/MYLK) pathway undeniably plays a pivotal role in the pathophysiology of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). In our study, we utilized both ocular hypertension (OHT) rabbit models and clinical investigations to gain invaluable insights that propel the development of novel treatments targeting proteins and genes associated with the trabecular meshwork (TM), thereby offering promising avenues for the management of POAG.
Methods: Following microbead injections into the anterior chamber of the ocular cavity of rabbits, we observed elevated histiocyte numbers and immune scores for MYLK-4/ pMLC-2, alongside a reduction in the void space within the TM.

Purpose: Timing of surgical intervention in glaucoma is crucial to preserving sight. While ocular characteristics that increase surgical risk are known, the impact of neighborhood-level social risk factors such as the Social Vulnerability Index (SVI) and Area Deprivation Index (ADI) on time to glaucoma surgery is unknown. The objective of this study was to evaluate the association between SVI or ADI scores and the timing of glaucoma surgical intervention.

Introduction In the early postoperative period following trabeculectomy, monitoring the journey of bleb formation is crucial for assessing surgical success. Anterior-segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) emerges as a powerful tool in this pursuit, offering high-resolution imaging of bleb morphology and dynamics. This study aims to evaluate the internal structure of blebs through their maturation phases using AS-OCT.
