Article Synopsis
  • This study investigated how different scanning speeds of whole-body scans affect the ability to detect positive vertebral bone images in bone scintigraphy.
  • Using a simulated bone model, researchers tested speeds of 15, 17, and 20 cm/min and analyzed various metrics like lesion detectability and image clarity.
  • Results indicated that while the highest scan speed (20 cm/min) reduced lesion detectability compared to the slowest speed (15 cm/min), speeds of 15 and 17 cm/min showed no significant differences, suggesting a slight reduction in scan time is feasible without losing accuracy.

Background And Aim: Serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) before the administration of atezolizumab plus bevacizumab (Atez + Bev) is a prognostic biomarker in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with Atez + Bev. We previously revealed that the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and serum chemokine levels during treatment with Atez + Bev were more useful as prognostic biomarkers. Therefore, we examined the predictive ability of serum IL-6 for the efficacy of Atez + Bev in patients with HCC.

In recent years, intraoperative surgical guides have been widely used in oral and maxillofacial surgery to navigate the resection sites. However, most of them are designed for segmental mandibulectomy and determine only the anterior-posterior cutting sites. In the case of marginal mandibulectomy, the depth and angle of the resection need to be considered in addition to the anterior-posterior cutting site.

Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) was reported as a severe complication of coronavirus disease 2019; an infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), and was suggested to be associated with Kawasaki disease (KD) in terms of severe systemic inflammation and mucocutaneous symptoms. Because severe gastrointestinal symptoms and systemic shock are more frequently observed with MIS-C, patients with mild MIS-C might have been diagnosed with KD. In this study, titers of IgG antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 S (S-IgG) and N proteins (N-IgG) were measured in 99 serum samples collected from patients with KD treated between January 2020 and December 2021 to evaluate the relationship between KD and SARS-CoV-2 infection.
