French National Centre for Scientific Research, French Horse and Riding Institute, Research for Agriculture, Food and Environment Institute, Tours University, Physiology of Reproduction and Behavior Unit, F-37380 Nouzilly, France. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • Adipokines, which are hormones secreted by white adipose tissue, influence reproductive functions in mammals and are also found in avian species, particularly in chicken egg albumen.
  • The study focused on the presence of various adipokines (like adiponectin, visfatin, and apelin) and their receptors in the reproductive tract of hens and during embryo development, using methods like Western blot and RT-qPCR.
  • Findings revealed that these adipokines are expressed variably depending on the hen's reproductive status and the egg's position in the oviduct, indicating their significant roles in regulating chicken embryo growth and suggesting their potential as biomarkers for improving development outcomes.

Background And Objectives: Activation of the complement system is involved in the pathogenesis of anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) disease. Glomerular deposits of complement 3 (C3) are often detected on kidney biopsies. The primary objective of this study was to analyze the prognostic value of the serum C3 level and the presence of C3 glomerular deposits in patients with anti-GBM disease.

Background And Objective: Cetuximab, an anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) monoclonal immunoglobulin (Ig)G1 antibody, has been approved for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). The influence of target-antigen on cetuximab pharmacokinetics has never been investigated using target-mediated drug disposition (TMDD) modelling. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between cetuximab concentrations, target kinetics and progression-free survival (PFS).

Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology Department, Tours University Hospital, INSERM UMR 1253 iBrain, 2 Bd Tonnellé, Centre Val de Loire, Tours, France. Electronic address:

Background: Weather conditions have been shown to influence the occurrence of cardiovascular events. We tested the hypothesis that weather parameters may be associated with variations of case volume of endovascular treatment (EVT) for acute ischemic stroke.

Methods: Individual data from the ETIS (Endovascular Treatment in Ischemic Stroke) French national registry were matched to local weather stations.

Monoclonal antibody (mAb)-based therapies have been a major advance in oncology patient care, even though they represent a significant healthcare cost. Biosimilars, launched in Europe in 2004 are an economically attractive alternative to expensive originator biological drugs. They also increase the competitiveness of pharmaceutical development.

Background: Pain is frequent after cardiac surgery and source of multiple complications that can impair postoperative recovery. Regional anesthesia seems to be an interesting technique to reduce the pain in this context, but its effectiveness in improving recovery has been poorly studied so far. The objective of this study is to compare the effectiveness of two of the most studied chest wall blocks in cardiac surgery, i.

GRM1 Gene Fusions as an Alternative Molecular Driver in Blue Nevi and Related Melanomas.

Mod Pathol

October 2023

Division of Pathology, St. Anna Hospital, ASST Lariana, Como, Italy; Department of Biopathology, Centre Léon Bérard, Lyon, France. Electronic address:

Activating mutations in GNAQ, GNA11, CYSLTR2, and PLCB4 genes are regarded as the main oncogenic drivers of blue nevi (BN) and blue malignant melanocytic tumors. Here we report 4 cases of blue melanocytic neoplasms devoid of these mutations but harboring GRM1 gene fusions. In this short series, there was no gender predominance (sex ratio, 1).

When entering the oviduct for fertilisation, spermatozoa come into contact with the oviduct fluid (OF) and can bind to luminal epithelial cells in the isthmus to form a sperm reservoir. The objective of this study was to examine how the OF modulates sperm adhesion to the oviduct reservoir using an in vitro model of oviduct epithelial spheroids (OES). Bovine oviducts from a local slaughterhouse were used to collect OF and isthmic fragments for the in vitro incubation of OES.

Background: Current knowledge on prognostic biomarkers (especially BRAF /RAS mutations) in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) is mainly based on mCRC patients with proficient mismatch repair (pMMR) tumors. It is uncertain whether these biomarkers have the same prognostic value in mCRC patients with deficient mismatch repair (dMMR) tumors.

Methods: This observational cohort study combined a population-based Dutch cohort (2014-2019) and a large French multicenter cohort (2007-2017).
