Engineered reverse hairpin constructs containing a partial C-heptad repeat (CHR) sequence followed by a short loop and full-length N-heptad repeat (NHR) were previously shown to form trimers in solution and to be nanomolar inhibitors of HIV-1 Env mediated fusion. Their target is the in situ gp41 fusion intermediate, and they have similar potency to other previously reported NHR trimers. However, their design implies that the NHR is partially covered by CHR, which would be expected to limit potency.

Objective: The Buried in Treasures (BIT) workshop is a promising treatment for hoarding disorder (HD), though many participants struggle with home uncluttering. This randomized waitlist-controlled trial investigated the efficacy of a version of BIT, augmented with in-home uncluttering practice (BIT+).

Method: Adults (N = 41) with hoarding disorder were recruited from the community and randomly assigned to BIT+ or waitlist.

Eczema exacerbation following herpes zoster infection in an immunocompetent patient: A case report.

This case report highlights a severe eczematous rash manifesting broadly across the scalp, face, and neck of a 54-year-old female following a resolved herpes zoster infection. Notably, such cutaneous reactions post-varicella zoster virus infection, which may present weeks to years after the acute phase, have been documented but remain poorly understood in their pathogenesis. This patient exhibited a blistering rash diagnosed as shingles with overlying cellulitis, initially treated with valacyclovir and cefalexin.

Plant Expression of Trans-Encapsidated Chimeric Viral Vaccines with Animal RNA Replicons: An Update.

In this protocol, we outline how to produce a chimeric viral vaccine in a biosafety level 1 (BSL1) environment. An animal viral vector RNA encapsidated with tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) coat protein can be fully assembled in planta. Agrobacterium cultures containing each component are inoculated together into tobacco leaves and the self-assembled hybrid chimeric viral vaccine is harvested 4 days later and purified with a simple PEG precipitation.

Basal cell carcinoma in situ of the skin revisited: case reports of the superficial type and fibroepithelioma type of this in situ cutaneous neoplasm.

Cutaneous basal cell carcinoma in situ is a recently proposed subtype of this skin cancer. It is characterized by either restriction of the tumor cells within the epidermis or the presence of tumor cells contiguous with the overlying epidermis that extend into the underlying dermis, or both. Importantly, cancer invasion-demonstrated by non-contiguous aggregates of basaloid tumor cells in the dermis-is not a feature of in situ basal cell carcinoma of the skin.

Herpetic geometric glossitis has been reported in 11 patients; 8 of these individuals were immunocompromised.

Methods: A comprehensive search was systematically conducted in May 2022 across databases, including PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health (CINAHL), Web of Science, Scopus, PsycINFO, and Trip Pro, to unearth peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2022.

Implementation of an electronic health record system during global surgical outreach: A prospective evaluation of success and sustainability.

Background: The burden of musculoskeletal conditions continues to grow in low- and middle-income countries. Among thousands of surgical outreach trips each year, few organizations electronically track patient data to inform real-time care decisions and assess trip impact. We report the implementation of an electronic health record (EHR) system utilized at point of care during an orthopedic surgical outreach trip.

The Role of Consumerism in Pharmacy Education.

The notion of consumerism and that students are customers of pharmacy colleges was explored by proponents and opponents of the idea. First, a working definition of a "customer" in pharmacy education is pondered with respect to the roles and responsibilities of students and schools/colleges of pharmacy. Second, the pros and cons of "student-centered" education are considered in the light of students and their families being consumers of the educational experience.

Cutaneous Superficial Basal Cell Carcinoma is a Basal Cell Carcinoma In Situ: Electron Microscopy of a Case Series of Basal Cell Carcinomas.

Objective: This study aimed to explore and identify motivational factors and barriers for pharmacy personnel participation in specific opioid mitigation programs, using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as an investigational framework.

Methods: A naturalistic inquiry method was employed involving semi-structured interviews with pharmacy personnel to assess their intentions, attitudes, normative beliefs, and behaviors towards participating in naloxone dispensing and provision of at-home drug disposal solutions. Purposive sampling was utilized to recruit participants, with saturation achieved after 12 interviews.

The ontogeny of feeding is characterized by shifting functional demands concurrent with changes in craniofacial anatomy; relationships between these factors will look different in primates with disparate feeding behaviors during development. This study examines the ontogeny of skull morphology and jaw leverage in tufted (Sapajus) and untufted (Cebus) capuchin monkeys. Unlike Cebus, Sapajus have a mechanically challenging diet and behavioral observations of juvenile Sapajus suggest these foods are exploited early in development.

Practitioners are able to provide evidence-based suggestions in a way that supports behavior change. One of the barriers to implementing LM more broadly is the lack of training in this rapidly growing field.

Lichen Planus Pigmentosus Inversus: A Case Report of a Man Presenting With a Pigmented Lichenoid Axillary Inverse Dermatosis (PLAID).

Lichen planus pigmentosus is an uncommon subtype of lichen planus and lichen planus pigmentosus inversus is a rare variant of lichen planus pigmentosus. Lichen planus pigmentosus inversus typically presents as hyperpigmented patches or plaques, particularly in the intertriginous areas such as the axillae, the groin and inguinal folds, and in the submammary region. In some patients with lichen planus pigmentosus inversus, the condition can present as a pigmented lichenoid axillary inverse dermatosis (PLAID) when the lesions are in the axillae.

An Autobiographical Case Series of Familial Post Ambulatory Swollen Hands (POTASH): Hand Swelling in a Man and His Sister While Participating in a Half Marathon.

Post ambulatory swollen hands (POTASH) is an acquired condition characterized by swelling of the hands, thumbs, and fingers following either walking, hiking, or running; no other body sites are swollen. The asymptomatic hand swelling begins in adulthood and recurs after adequate ambulation. A distinctive feature of POTASH that is often present is a positive fist sign demonstrated by the inability of the affected person to clench their fingers into the palm and form a fist.

Quantifying Morphology of a Differentiating Neuroblastoma Cell Line.

SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells are a subclone cell line of SK-N-SH cells derived from neural crest that were originally taken from human bone marrow during a biopsy. Research has shown that these cells can be cultured in vitro to differentiate into mature, neuronal phenotypes such as dopaminergic neurons. Here, we added to these discoveries by establishing a quantitative profile for the SH-SY5Y cells of morphometric features including neurite length, branchpoint numbers, and soma area over the span of 18 days.
