Accurate segmentation of thalamic nuclei, crucial for understanding their role in healthy cognition and in pathologies, is challenging to achieve on standard T1-weighted (T1w) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) due to poor image contrast. White-matter-nulled (WMn) MRI sequences improve intrathalamic contrast but are not part of clinical protocols or extant databases. In this study, we introduce histogram-based polynomial synthesis (HIPS), a fast preprocessing transform step that synthesizes WMn-like image contrast from standard T1w MRI using a polynomial approximation for intensity transformation.

Recently, novel non-pharmacological interventions, such as photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy, have shown promise for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD). This article outlines the translation from the preclinical to clinical stages of an innovative brain-gut PBM therapy in a mouse model of AD, a pilot clinical trial involving mild-to-moderate AD patients, and a continuing pivotal clinical trial with a similar patient population. In a mouse model of AD (Aβ25-35), daily application of brain-gut PBM therapy to both the head and the abdomen produced a neuroprotective effect against the neurotoxic effects of an Aβ25-35 peptide injection by normalizing all the modified behavioral and biochemical parameters.

Background: One randomized phase III trial comparing chemotherapy (CT) with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) has demonstrated significant efficacy of ICI in deficient DNA mismatch repair system/microsatellite instability-high (dMMR/MSI-H) metastatic colorectal cancer. However, few studies have compared ICI with CT in other advanced dMMR/MSI-H digestive tumors.
Methods: In this multicenter study, we included patients with advanced dMMR/MSI-H non-colorectal digestive tumors treated with chemotherapy and/or ICIs.

Purpose: Corneal crosslinking (CXL) is the standard treatment of progressive keratoconus (KC). We evaluated the safety and 10-year outcomes of conventional "epithelial-off" CXL for progressive KC for the first time in a cohort in France.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of patients undergoing conventional CXL (Dresden protocol) in our tertiary ophthalmology department from 2006 to 2011 with 10-year follow-up.

Introduction: In Moyamoya angiopathy (MMA), mechanisms underlying cognitive impairment remain debated. We aimed to assess the association of cognitive impairment with the degree and the topography of cerebral hypoperfusion in MMA.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of neuropsychological and perfusion MRI data from adults with MMA was performed.

Background: The prevalence and risk factors of posttraumatic stress disorder after cesarean delivery, outside high-risk contexts, remain unclear.
Objective: This study aimed to assess posttraumatic stress disorder prevalence and risk factors at 2 months postpartum among a general population of women with cesarean delivery.
Study Design: This was a prospective ancillary cohort study of the Tranexamic Acid for Preventing Postpartum Hemorrhage after Cesarean Delivery (TRAAP2) trial, conducted in 27 French hospitals from 2018 to 2020, enrolling women expected to undergo cesarean delivery before or during labor at ≥34 weeks of gestation.

Background: Addition of anti-GD2 antibodies to temozolomide-based chemotherapy has demonstrated increased antitumor activity and progression-free survival in patients with relapsed/progressive high-risk neuroblastoma. However, chemo-immunotherapy is not yet approved for this indication. This study presents the chemo-immunotherapy experience in patients with relapsed/progressive high-risk neuroblastoma treated within the off-label use program of the Neuroblastoma Committee of the French Society of Pediatric Oncology (SFCE).

Excessive lipolysis in white adipose tissue (WAT) leads to insulin resistance (IR) and ectopic fat accumulation in insulin-sensitive tissues. However, the impact of Gi-coupled receptors in restraining adipocyte lipolysis through inhibition of cAMP production remained poorly elucidated. Given that the Gi-coupled P2Y13 receptor (P2Y13-R) is a purinergic receptor expressed in WAT, we investigated its role in adipocyte lipolysis and its effect on IR and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

Purpose: In order to explore clinical pharmacology and therapeutics (CPT) teaching and practices across continental Europe, the European Association of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (EACPT) made a survey in 2022 amongst its 27 affiliated societies.
Methods: The survey was made available online to EACPT representatives, and 47 filled-in questionnaires were received from 25 countries (one to five per country), representing all geographic areas of Europe.
Results: Clinical pharmacologists (CPs) spend 25%, 30%, 15%, and 25% of their time in teaching, hospital activities, committees, and research, respectively, with large variations across and within countries.

Objective: A real-world evaluation of the diagnostic accuracy of the Opthai® software for artificial intelligence-based detection of fundus image abnormalities in the context of the French eyewear prescription renewal protocol (RNO).
Methods: A single-center, retrospective review of the sensitivity and specificity of the software in detecting fundus abnormalities among consecutive patients seen in our ophthalmology center in the context of the RNO protocol from July 28 through October 22, 2021. We compared abnormalities detected by the software operated by ophthalmic technicians (index test) to diagnoses confirmed by the ophthalmologist following additional examinations and/or consultation (reference test).

Objective: In France, kidney transplantations (KT) are mainly performed by urologist. Young urologists and residents are involved in this activity mostly performed in emergency. How do they feel about KT training? Is KT an attractive part of the urologist activity?
Methods: This survey has been designed in the form of a questionnaire by the French Committee of Kidney Transplantation (CTAFU) and the French Association of Urologists in training (AFUF).

Background: Health-related quality of life (Hr-QoL) scales provide crucial information on neurodegenerative disease progression, help improve patient care and constitute a meaningful endpoint for therapeutic research. However, Hr-QoL progression is usually poorly documented, as for multiple system atrophy (MSA), a rare and rapidly progressing alpha-synucleinopathy. This work aimed to describe Hr-QoL progression during the natural course of MSA, explore disparities between patients and identify informative items using a four-step statistical strategy.

Alzheimer's disease is strongly linked to metabolic abnormalities. We aimed to distinguish amyloid-positive people who progressed to cognitive decline from those who remained cognitively intact. We performed untargeted metabolomics of blood samples from amyloid-positive individuals, before any sign of cognitive decline, to distinguish individuals who progressed to cognitive decline from those who remained cognitively intact.
