Prevalence of contrast intravasation in HyCoSy/HyFoSy. Results of a multicenter study and systematic review of the literature with meta-analysis.

Objective: To determine the frequency of uterine contrast agent intravasation during HyCoSy/HyFoSy for assessing tubal patency in infertile women.

Methods: Prospective observational multicenter study performed in nine European university hospitals, comprising a series of non-consecutive women who underwent HyFoSy (ExEm foam) for tubal patency assessment in the context of infertility between May 2016 and December 2022. All examinations were performed using the same scanning protocol.

Clinical characteristics and impact on patient-reported outcomes and quality of life of people with ambulatory secondary progressive multiple sclerosis: DISCOVER study.

Background: People with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (pwSPMS) experience increasing disability, which impacts negatively on their health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Our aims were to assess the impact of secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS) on functional status and HRQoL and describe the clinical profile in this population.

Methods: DISCOVER is an observational, cross-sectional, multicenter study with retrospective data collection in real-world clinical practice in Spain.

Localized pemphigus vulgaris on scalp: an atypical presentation.

We present two middle-aged patients with pruritic, crusted scalp erosions. Skin biopsy showed epidermal acantholysis with IgG and C3 intercellular deposits on direct immunofluorescence, leading to the diagnosis of localized pemphigus vulgaris. Resolution of the lesions without relapse occurred after low doses of oral prednisone and intralesional triamcinolone acetonide.

Clinical Validation of the Intermediate-risk Non-muscle-invasive Bladder Cancer Scoring System and Substratification Model Proposed by the International Bladder Cancer Group: A Multicenter Young Academic Urologists Urothelial Working Group Collaboration.

Background And Objective: Intermediate-risk (IR) non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) encompasses a broad spectrum of disease, with heterogeneous outcomes in terms of disease recurrence and progression. The International Bladder Cancer Group (IBCG) recently proposed an updated scoring model for IR substratification that is based on five key risk factors. Our aim was to provide a clinical validation of the IBCG scoring system and substratification model for IR NMIBC.

Update on thymic epithelial tumors: a narrative review.

Background And Objective: Thymoma, thymic carcinoma and thymic neuroendocrine tumors originate from the epithelial cells of the thymus and account for the thymic epithelial tumors (TETs). Although TETs are uncommon, they are the most frequent tumor type in the anterior mediastinum. Multidisciplinary approach is essential for their correct management.

Variation in Follow-Up after Radical Cystectomy for Bladder Cancer-An Inventory Roundtable and Literature Review.

Follow-up after radical cystectomy (RC) for bladder cancer can be divided into oncological and functional surveillance. It remains unclear how follow-up after RC should ideally be scheduled. The aim of this report was to gain insight into the organization of follow-up after RC in Europe, for which we conducted a roundtable inventory within the EAU Young Academic Urologists Urothelial Cancer working group.

Translating NIA-AA criteria into usual practice: Report from the ReDeMa Project.

Introduction: Biomarker-informed criteria were proposed for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) by the National Institute on Aging and the Alzheimer's Association (NIA-AA) in 2011; however, the adequacy of this criteria has not been sufficiently evaluated.

Methods: ReDeMa () is a regional cohort of patients attending memory and neurology clinics. Core cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers were obtained, NIA-AA diagnostic criteria were considered, and changes in diagnosis and management were evaluated.

Impact on the first year of life of newborns with gestational infection by SARS-COV-2. Analysis of auditory effects.

Introduction: One of the causes of congenital hearing loss are infections suffered by the mother during pregnancy. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects on hearing in newborns to SARS-CoV-2 seropositive mothers during pregnancy. We also studied the hearing impact in the first year of life of the newborns to investigate whether neonatal infection produced a risk of infantile sensorineural hearing loss.

Effect of Prewarming on Perioperative Hypothermia in Patients Undergoing Loco-Regional or General Anesthesia: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

Redistribution hypothermia occurs during anesthesia despite active intraoperative warming. Prewarming increases the heat absorption by peripheral tissue, reducing the central to peripheral heat gradient. Therefore, the addition of prewarming may offer a greater preservation of intraoperative normothermia as compared to intraoperative warming only.

Brain Atrophy and Physical and Cognitive Disability in Multiple Sclerosis.

Introduction: Brain atrophy is associated with physical disability in multiple sclerosis (MS), but there is a great variability between different studies and methodologies, and its use is still limited to research projects. We aimed to analyze the relationship between several volumetric measurements and physical disability and cognitive functioning in MS patients in a clinical practice setting.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional study.

Patterns of Sexualized Drug Use among Gay, Bisexual, and Other Men Who Have Sex with Men Living with HIV: Insights from a Comprehensive Study-The U-SEX-2 GESIDA 9416 Study.

Background: Sexualized drug use (SDU) has become a public health concern in recent years. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of SDU in gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men living with HIV (HIV + GBMSM) in Madrid during 2019/2020 and compare it with data from 2016/2017 in order to detect changes in patterns.

Methods: We analyzed the frequency of SDU in a sample of HIV + GBMSM attending HIV clinics, who participated in an anonymous online survey regarding sexual behavior and recreational drug use.

MicroRNAs Associated with Disability Progression and Clinical Activity in Multiple Sclerosis Patients Treated with Glatiramer Acetate.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are promising biomarkers in multiple sclerosis (MS). This study aims to investigate the association between a preselected list of miRNAs in serum with therapeutic response to Glatiramer Acetate (GA) and with the clinical evolution of a cohort of relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) patients. We conducted a longitudinal study for 5 years, with cut-off points at 2 and 5 years, including 26 RRMS patients treated with GA for at least 6 months.

Prognosis of patients with T1 low-grade urothelial bladder cancer treated with bacillus Calmette-Guérin immunotherapy.

Background: The existence and prognosis of T1LG (T1 low-grade) bladder cancer is controversial. Also, because of data paucity, it remains unclear what is the clinical history of bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) treated T1LG tumors and if it differs from other NMIBC (non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer) representatives. The aim of this study was to analyse recurrence-free survival (RFS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with T1LG bladder cancers treated with BCG immunotherapy.

Introduction: At the end of their residency program, urology trainees should reach the minimum skills required to be able to work by themselves and within a team. To achieve this objective, it is fundamental that the training involves not only surgical activities, but also theoretical, academic, and relational ones. What is the perfect balance between these activities within the ideal urological training? This study aims to evaluate the concordance in different concepts of good urological training between different perspectives (trainees vs professors).

The Impact on Urology Residents' Learning of Social Media and Web Technologies after the Pandemic: A Step Forward through the Sharing of Knowledge.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted urology residents and their training. However, several new technologies or knowledge platforms as social media (SoMe) and web-based learning solutions have filled this gap. Therefore, we aimed to analyze resident's learning curves of new learning modalities, identify the evidence that is provided in the literature, and evaluate the possible impact of such solutions in the future.

Stage-dependent survival in patients treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy and radical cystectomy.

Background: The aim of this study is to investigate the differential stage-dependent outcomes of patients undergoing radical cystectomy (RC) with or without neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC).

Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of 1422 patients with cT2-4N0 MIBC treated with RC, with/without cisplatin-based NAC, from our multicenter cooperation program (treated period: 1992-2021). Patients were stratified according to their pathologic stage at RC.

Introduction: The aim of this article was to evaluate the personal monetary costs associated with the urology residency.

Material And Methods: The European Society of Residents in Urology (ESRU) designed a 35-item survey and distributed it via email and social media to urology residents in Europe.Monthly net salary and educational expenses (general expenses, literature, congresses and courses) and opinions regarding sponsorship and expenditure were evaluated.

Findings from an international survey of urology trainee experience with prostate biopsy.

Objective: To assess urology trainees' exposure to transperineal prostate biopsy (TP-Bx) and intent to use TP-Bx in practice.

Subjects And Methods: A 34-question survey about prostate biopsy was distributed to urology trainees in the United States and Europe. Primary outcomes were exposure to TP-Bx in training and intent to use TP-Bx post training.

Current professional standing of young medical oncologists in Spain: a nationwide survey by the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology + MIR section.

Background: There is a lack of knowledge about the career paths and employment situation of young medical oncologists. The aim of our study was to evaluate the current professional standing of these professionals in Spain.

Methods: The Spanish Society of Medical Oncology + MIR section conducted a national online survey in May 2021 of young medical oncology consultants (< 6 years of expertise) and final year medical oncology residents.
