Impaired signaling between cyclic adenosine monophosphate response element binding protein (CREB) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the hippocampus is generally considered to be the cause of depression. The mechanisms underlying the impairment of CREB-BDNF signaling under stress conditions are largely unclear. Small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) specific peptidase 3 (SENP3) is a molecule that can regulate SUMOylation of target proteins related to synaptic plasticity.

Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) poses a considerable worldwide health concern due to its associated high risk of death. The heterogeneity of HCC poses challenges in developing practical risk stratification tools and identifying prognostic markers for personalized targeted treatments. Recently, lysosomes were shown to be crucial contributors to numerous cellular activities, including tumor initiation and immune response regulation.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a clonal disease of plasma cells that remains, for the most part, incurable despite the advent of several novel therapeutics. The elevated expression of p27 and its association with cell-cycle arrest is speculated to be one of the major mechanisms by which MM cells escape the cytotoxic effects of therapeutic agents. In this study, we demonstrated that RBX1 silencing could inhibit MM cell growth and promote cell drug resistance.

Gastric cancer remains one of the most prevalent tumors worldwide and peritoneal metastasis is responsible for approximately 60% of death in advanced gastric cancer patients. However, the underlying mechanism of peritoneal metastasis is poorly understood. We have established organoids derived from malignant ascites (MA) of gastric cancer patients and noticed that MA supernatant could strongly increase the colony formation of organoids.

This study aimed to explore the role of LncKCNQ1OT1/hsa-miR-153-3p/RUNX2 in the odontoblastic differentiation of human dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) and its possible mechanism. The expression of LncKCNQ1OT1, hsa-miR-153-3p, and RUNX2 in the odontoblastic differentiation was detected by qRT-PCR. Interaction between LncKCNQ1OT1 and hsa-miR-153-3p and interaction between hsa-miR-153-3p and RUNX2 were detected by dual-luciferase assay.

Sinomenine (SIN), an alkaloid extracted from the root of , has been shown to have antiarrhythmic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) . In this study, we investigated the cardioprotective effects of SIN in an mouse model of MIRI. Adult male C57BL/6J mice received SIN (80 mg/kg) for 5 days and underwent 30 min of percutaneous occlusion of the left anterior descending artery (LAD) followed by 24 h of reperfusion.

Impulsiveness is a stable personal characteristic that contributes to obesity and may interact with it. Specifically, obesity is caused by unrestrained impulse eating that is not consciously controlled and leads to a hormonal imbalance that also can impair impulse control. However, the mechanism of this relationship is unclear.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical effect of lower-limb exercise, when combined with celecoxib, on pain management of patients undergoing posterior lumbar fusion surgeries.
Methods: The patients undergoing posterior lumbar fusion surgeries between 01/2018 and 06/2021 were retrospectively identified, with their data collected. After surgery, some patients took celecoxib for analgesia (celecoxib group, 200 mg/day) while the others took celecoxib together with lower-limb exercise (combined group, celecoxib-200 mg/day).

Objective: To investigate the relationship between asymmetric prominent hypointense vessels (prominent vessel sign, PVS) on susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) and leptomeningeal collateralization in patients with acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion.
Methods: We retrospectively enrolled patients with M1 segment occlusion of the middle cerebral artery who underwent emergency magnetic resonance imaging and digital subtraction angiography within 24 hours from stroke onset. The extent of PVS on SWI was assessed using the Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS).

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is 1 of the highly fatal and most aggressive types of malignancies and accounts for the vast majority of Pancreatic Cancer. Numerous studies have reported that the tumor microenvironment (TME) was significantly correlated with the oncogenesis, progress, and prognosis of various malignancies. Therefore, mining of TME-related genes is reasonably important to improve the overall survival of patients with PDAC.

Background: Ultrasound-guided posterior lumbar plexus block is widely used for hip fracture surgery but it requires a change of position, which may be painful.
Objectives: Our primary objective was to describe a new technique, the anterior iliopsoas muscle space block, which can be performed in the supine position, and to test the hypothesis that its analgesia for hip surgery was similar to that of the traditional posterior lumbar plexus block.
Design: Randomised, double-blind study.

Recent discoveries indicate that the enzyme fatty acid 2-hydroxylase (FA2H) is associated with biological behavior and can be used for outcome prediction in several types of cancers. Such relevancy, however, between FA2H and ovarian cancer is not clear. Therefore, we carried out this study to compare the expression of FA2H with the clinicopathological features of ovarian cancer.
