Introduction: The formation of bone-like apatite (Ap) on natural polymers through biomimetic mineralization using simulated body fluid (SBF) can improve osteoconductivity and biocompatibility, while lowering immunological rejection. Nonetheless, the coating efficiency of the bone-like Ap layer on natural polymers requires improvement. Carbonyls (-COOH) and hydroxyls (-OH) are abundant in graphene oxide (GO), which may offer more active sites for biomimetic mineralization and promote the proliferation of rat bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs).

Introduction: The Surviving Sepsis Campaign was developed to improve outcomes for all patients with sepsis. Despite sepsis being the primary cause of death after thermal injury, burns have always been excluded from the Surviving Sepsis efforts. To improve sepsis outcomes in burn patients, an international group of burn experts developed the Surviving Sepsis After Burn Campaign (SSABC) as a testable guideline to improve burn sepsis outcomes.

, as a medicinal plant in both traditional and western medicine, emerged as a potential therapeutic agent for the management of a variety of diseases, but ginkgo biflavones (bilobetin, isoginkgetin, and ginkgetin) application in cancer therapy and underlying mechanisms of action remained elusive. In the present study, we identified ginkgo biflavones as potential p53 activators that could enhance p53 protein expression level by inhibiting MDM2 protein expression. At the same time, they induced cell death independent of p53 transcriptional activity.

In more than half a century, burn rehabilitation in China has experienced three periods: initial exploration in the latter half of the 20 century, gradual development in the first decade of the 21 century, and the accelerating popularization in the recent decade. Looking back at the historical development of burn rehabilitation, we can see not only great progresses, but also many problems and deficiencies. In China, many units still do not even provide burn rehabilitation treatment, and many units where rehabilitation is also in practice, are commonly experiencing problems such as lack of enough therapists, insufficient team construction and training, incomplete treatment programs and limited curative effects, unstable multi-disciplinary cooperation mode, and lack of high-level rehabilitation research and technological innovation.

Background: The pathogenesis of peritoneal dialysis (PD)-related peritoneal fibrosis (PF) is not clearly understood, and current treatment options are limited.
Methods: In this study, the effect of PD-related PF on mitochondrial biogenesis was investigated, and the effect of activation of the adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK)-PGC-1α (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator-1α) pathway on PF was evaluated in mice.
Results: In a mouse model of PD-related PF, AMPK-PGC-1α signaling (phospho-AMPK, PGC-1α, NRF-1, NRF-2 and TFAM expression) was downregulated, mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) levels were reduced, and mitochondrial structure was damaged in the peritoneum.
