A mouse organoid culture model was developed to regenerate articular cartilage by sequential treatment with BMP2 and BMP9 (or GDF2) that parallels induced joint regeneration at digit amputation wounds in vivo. BMP9-induced chondrogenesis was used to identify clonal cell lines for articular chondrocyte and hypertrophic chondrocyte progenitor cells from digit fibroblasts. A protocol that includes cell aggregation enhanced by BMP2 followed by BMP9-induced chondrogenesis resulted in the differentiation of organized layers of articular chondrocytes, similar to the organization of middle and deep zones of articular cartilage in situ, and retained a differentiated phenotype following transplantation.

By means of factor analysis approach, a method of molecule classification is built based on the measured terahertz absorption spectra of the molecules. A data matrix can be obtained by sampling the absorption spectra at different frequency points. The data matrix is then decomposed into the product of two matrices: a weight matrix and a characteristic matrix.

Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of beta-receptor ( p-R) in infantile hemangioma.
Methods: The expression of beta-R was detected by immunohistochemistry in infantile hemangioma (40 cases), venous malformation (20 cases) and normal skin (10 cases).
Results: The positive expression rate of beta2-R was 70% (28/40) in infantile hemangioma, while no expression of beta2-R in venous malformation and normal skin.

Objective: To analyze the prevalence characteristics and influence factors of pneumoconiosis of workers exposed to dusts in an iron mine, to provide the base of preventive measures for pneumoconiosis of iron mine.
Methods: The subjects of cohort study were all workers exposed to dusts for at least one year registered in an iron mine during 1960 to 1974, and followed-up to the end in 2003. The cases with pneumoconiosis were diagnosed by the local diagnosis group of pneumoconiosis, according to the national diagnostic criteria of pneumoconiosis.

Objective: To study the effects of ammonium perchlorate (AP) on the levels of thyroid hormone and the testis function of male rats.
Methods: Twenty male rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: control group, low, middle and high AP group. The rats were exposed orally to 0, 130, 260 and 520 mg AP/kg a day for 80 days.

Objective: To investigate the location of heme oxygenase (HO) enzyme in the human testis, and explore the correlation of the expression of HO enzyme with azoospermia by analyzing its different expression levels in the testes of nonobstructive azoospermia, obstructive azoospermia and normal men.
Methods: We detected the location of the cells expressing HO enzyme in the human testis tissue using immunohistochemistry, determined the mRNA and protein expression levels of HO-1 and HO-2 in the testes of azoospermia patients and normal healthy men by RT-fluorescence quantitative PCR (RT-FQ-PCR) and Western blot, and explored the correlation of HO expressions with the pathogenesis of azoospermia.
Results: HO-1 enzyme was expressed mainly in the Sertoli cells and HO-2 enzyme chiefly in the germ cells of the testis tissue.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of red clover isoflavones on the proliferation and apoptosis of human benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) stromal cells.
Methods: We treated human prostate stromal cells with red clover isoflavones at the concentration of 12.5, 25, 50 and 100 microg/ml, and established a PBS blank control, a dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) negative control and four finasteride positive control groups (at the concentration of 12.

In order to investigate the expression change of survivin in non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and its possible effects on NHL development, the expression of survivin, Ki-67, caspase3 and FVIIIRAg in reactive lymphoid hyperplasia (RH) and NHL was detected by immunohistochemical assay, and apoptosis index (AI) in RH and NHL by TUNEL analysis. The results showed that the expression of survivin is significantly higher in aggressive NHL than in indolent NHL (P<0.01), while there was no statistically significant difference between RH and indolent NHL (P>0.

In order to construct a single chain fragment variable (ScFv) phage display library against ovarian tumor, by using RT-PCR, the human heavy chain variable region genes (VH) and light chain variable region genes (VL) were amplified from lymphocytes of ovarian tumor patients and subsequently assembled into ScFv genes by SOE. The resulting ScFv genes were electrotransformed into E. coli TG1 and amplified with the co-infection of helper phage M13KO7 to obtain phage display library.

Aim: To investigate the effect of capsaicin on IA and IK in cultured rat trigeminal ganglion (TG) neurons.
Methods: Whole-cell patch clamp technique was used to record the IA and IK before and after capsaicin perfusion at different concentrations.
Results: In capsaicin-sensitive (CS) neurons, capsaicin was shown to selectively inhibit IA in dose-dependent manner, the IC50 was 0.

Aim: To investigate the influence of platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptor on long-term potentiation (LTP) attenuated by aluminium.
Methods: The method of extracellular recording was used to investigate the effect of PAF receptors on PP-CA3 LTP by microinjection of PAF receptor antagonist Ginkgolide B or agonist mc-PAF into CA3 area.
Results: (1) Amplitude of population spikes (PS) of evoked potential was not affected but LTP induction was blocked by 0.
