Purpose: Emerging evidence has indicated that oxidative stress (OS) contributes to periodontitis. Periodontal ligament cells (PDLCs) are important for the regeneration of periodontal tissue. Quercetin, which is extracted from fruits and vegetables, has strong antioxidant capabilities.

Background: Osseointegration is the premise of the chewing function of dental implant. Nerve growth factor (NGF), as a neurotrophic factor, can induce bone healing. However, the influence of NGF-chondroitin sulfate (CS)/hydroxyapatite (HA)-coating composite implant on the osseointegration and innervations is still not entirely clear.

Dental implant is the most effective way to repair the defect or absence of dentition. Currently, the modification in titanium surface properties has become a hot topic in the study of oral implantology. However, more suitable titanium surface coating still needs to be further explored.

Altered DNA methylation upon ageing may result in many age-related diseases such as osteoporosis. However, the changes in DNA methylation that occur in cortical bones, the major osteocytic areas, remain unknown. In our study, we extracted total DNA and RNA from the cortical bones of 6-month-old and 24-month-old mice and systematically analysed the differentially methylated regions (DMRs), differentially methylated promoters (DMPs) and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the mouse groups.

Surface modifications play an important role in endowing implant surface with excellent biocompatibility and bioactivity. Among the bioinspired surface modifications, the mussel-inspired polydopamine (PDA) has aroused great interest of researchers. Herein, we fabricated PDA on diverse implant surfaces, including biopolymer, biometal, and bioceramic.

Osteoporosis is a complex and multifactorial disease caused by an imbalance between bone formation and resorption. Post‑menopausal women with endogenous estrogen deficiency suffer from systemic bone loss and osteoporosis, and are at high risk of this affecting the jaw bones. MicroRNAs (miRNAs or miRs) have been implicated in the mechanisms of metabolic bone diseases and are expressed at differential levels in alveolar bone following ovariectomy.
