Recent studies have shown that WW domain containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1 (WWP1) is frequently amplified in various cancers. However, the role of WWP1 in osteosarcoma has not yet been studied. Here, we analyzed the mRNA levels of WWP1 in 25 pairs of osteosarcoma and adjacent non-tumorous samples.

Many studies have demonstrated that microRNAs (miRNAs) may play vital roles in the development of breast cancer. The aim of this study was to examine the expression levels of miR-497 in human breast cancer and investigate whether its potential roles involved targeting Bcl-2. Real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to examine the expression levels of miR-497 in 48 breast cancer specimens and six breast cancer cell lines.

Objective: To establish a rat model of bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) that realistically mimics major clinical manifestations of the disease.
Methods: Female Sprague Dawley rats received intravenous zoledronate 80 μg/kg once a week via the tail vein. Three weeks after intravenous injection, maxillary first molars were extracted under general anesthesia.

Objective: Ultrasound (US) features of solidity, hypoechogenicity or marked hypoechogenicity, microlobulated or irregular margins, microcalcifications, and taller-than-wide shape are suspicious characteristics for thyroid nodules. An US based Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (TI-RADS) is classified based on the number of aforesaid features. TI-RADS category 3 included nodules without any suspicious features, and categories 4a, 4b, 4c, and 5 included nodules with one, two, three or four, or five suspicious US features.

In this study, we investigate the expression and role of special AT-rich sequence-binding protein-2 (SATB2) in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) tissue, and to evaluate the clinical and prognostic significance of SATB2 protein in patients with ccRCC. The expression of SATB2 and SATB1 was examined in ccRCC tissue by Western blotting, real-time PCR and immunohistochemical staining. The association between clinicopathological features and SATB2 level was investigated.

Purpose: The management criterion of thyroid nodules is to evaluate the risk of malignancy, based on cytological examinations. Ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy (US-FNAB) has a highly diagnostic value for thyroid nodules. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of US-FNAB for thyroid nodules with different sizes.

Objective: to investigate the correlation between the parameters of prostate cancer (PCa) at contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) with PCa risk.
Methods: 84 patients (68 ± 8 years; range, 33-79 years) who had undergone CEUS were included. All the images were offline analyzed.

Purpose: To investigate whether the copy number of PIK3C2G is associated with clinical outcomes for stage III colorectal cancer (CRC) patients treated with oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy.
Methods: A total of 142 CRC patients who received first-line oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy after curative surgery in Ruijin Hospital and The Tenth People's Hospital were recruited in this study. Patients were enrolled between June 2006 and December 2011, with follow-up to January 2014.

Objective: This study was to explore the expression of human cervical cancer oncogene-1 (HCCR-1) in colon cancer and its clinical significance.
Methods: RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry and Western blot assay were employed to detect HCCR-1 expression in 152 colon cancers, 43 adjacent non-cancerous tissues and 37 normal tissues. In addition, immunohistochemistry was done to detect CEA in colon cancers.

Objective: To investigate osteogenesis of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) on strontium-substituted nano-hydroxyapatite (Sr-HA) coated roughened titanium surfaces.
Methods: Sr-HA coating and HA coating were fabricated on roughened titanium surfaces by electrochemical deposition technique and characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESM). BMSCs were cultured on Sr-HA coating, HA coating and roughened titanium surfaces respectively.

Endothelial damage is strongly associated with cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis. Bone marrow-derived endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) play an important role in the maintenance of endothelial homeostasis and contribute to re-endothelialization of injured vessels as well as revascularization of ischemic tissues. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been reported to regulate EPC biological functions.

Objectives: To investigate the association of shear wave velocity (SWV) and its ratio (SWV ratio) using virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ) imaging with clinicopathologic prognostic factors in women with invasive ductal breast cancer.
Methods: 138 consecutive women with invasive ductal breast cancer, who were diagnosed by pathological examination, were recruited between September 2011 and October 2013. Clinicopathologic findings were investigated in each participant, including age, invasive size, lymph node status, histological grade, estrogen receptor (ER) expression, progesterone receptor (PR) expression and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (C-erbB-2) expression.

Objective: To study the clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of primary angiosarcoma of the kidney.
Methods: We treated a patient with primary angiosarcoma, then searched the published papers with the terms of 'primary angiosarcoma of the kidney' and 'primary renal angiosarcoma' in PubMed database, found 27 patients with detailed data, and analyzed their characters in the clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.
Results: The primary angiosarcoma occurred mainly from 50 years old to 69 years old, predominated in male patients.
