School of Public Health, the Key Laboratory of Environmental Pollution Monitoring and Disease Control, Ministry of Education, Guizhou Medical University, Guiyang, People's Republic of China.

Background: The health status of the occupational population is critical to the development of countries and regions as it is the main force of social and economic development. However, there is a dearth of comprehensive and systematic indicators to evaluate the health of occupational groups. This study aimed to construct a multi-dimensional evaluation index system for the general population.

Cholelithiasis Center of Tongji University Affiliated Shanghai East Hospital, Institute of Cholelithiasis, Tongji University School of Medicine, Shanghai 200120, China.

Iatrogenic biliary stricture is a serious complication after biliary surgery. It can cause recurrent cholangitis, bile duct stones, cholestatic cirrhosis, and even liver failure. The overall effect of traditional surgery is satisfactory, but there are also shortcomings such as large trauma, high difficulty of surgery and poor acceptance of patients.

The confluence of pancreaticobiliary ducts refers to the area between the end of common bile duct, the opening of main pancreatic duct and duodenal papilla. Those confluence diseases of pancreaticobiliary ducts will cause obstruction of biliary and pancreatic outflow tract, cholestasis, pancreatic juice deposition or pancreaticobiliary reflux, and thus induce gallstones, cholangitis, pancreatitis and other diseases. Endoscopic ampullary sphincterotomy is an important way to treat biliary and pancreatic diseases, but the length of incision is determined by the anatomy of Oddi sphincter.

Introduction: Gallbladder adenomas have cancerous potential and occur in 4-8.9% of gallbladder polyps. The growth status (size progression and growth rate during follow-up) of polyps and their effectiveness for predicting adenomas are poorly defined.

Introduction: Self-management is essential for treating heart failure (HF). Culture influences the ability to cope, negotiate, and adopt self-management behaviors. However, current HF self-management interventions for Chinese patients do not take culture into consideration.

Introduction And Objectives: The incidence of gallstone-related disease steadily increased in the last few years. Here, we aimed to investigate the effect of tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA) on preventing cholesterol gallstones formation in high-fat fed (HFD) mice.

Material And Methods: Specific pathogen-free male C57Bl/6 mice were fed a lithogenic diet (LD group) alone or in combination with TUDCA (5g/kg diet) for 8 weeks.

To investigate the efficacy, feasibility and safety of treatment of gallbladder and common bile duct stones treated through cholecystostomy tube. The clinical data of 17 patients with gallbladder and common bile duct stones treated through cholecystostomy tube from January 2012 to December 2016 was analyzed retrospectively. Seventeen patients were successfully treated with percutaneous transhepatic gallbladder (PTGD), and 88.

ALK rearrangement is a driver gene in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ALK-positive tumors are sensitive to ALK-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). The detection of key driver genes is crucial to enable personalized treatment.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are known to play important roles in cancers. However, little is known about lncRNAs in cholangiocarcinoma (CCA), a cholangiocyte malignancy with poor prognosis. We investigated the role of nuclear paraspeckle assembly transcript 1 (NEAT1) lncRNA in promoting CCA.

Background And Aim: Hepatolithiasis is associated with the presence of intrahepatic biliary strictures, and balloon dilatation is the main approach. However, this method is difficult to implement if the bile duct distal to the stricture is blocked by stones. Therefore, alternative methods need to be explored to effectively treat hepatolithiasis.

Low-frequency low energy ultrasound combined with microbubbles induces distinct apoptosis of A7r5 cells.

Mol Med Rep

December 2014

Department of Ultrasound in Medicine, Shanghai Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Affiliated 6th People's Hospital, Shanghai 200233, P.R. China.

The present study aimed to investigate whether low frequency low energy ultrasound combined with microbubbles induces apoptotic cell death of A7r5 rat aortic vascular smooth muscle cells, and to identify the possible mechanisms underlying this effect. Ultrasonic waves (45 kHz with 0.3 Wcm2 of intensity for 0, 10, 20 and 30 sec) were used together with different dosages of SonoVue™ microbubbles (0, 14, 28, 42 and 56 µl), respectively.

TLR9 agonist regulates angiogenesis and inhibits corneal neovascularization.

Am J Pathol

June 2014

Academic Unit of Ophthalmology, School of Clinical Sciences, University of Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom. Electronic address:

Myeloid cells are highly adaptable and may positively or negatively regulate angiogenesis dependent on the cognate and soluble signals they receive. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) initiate immune responses, orchestrate adaptive immune responses, and regulate vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-mediated angiogenesis during wound healing. We investigated the possible role of TLR ligands in attenuation of new vessel growth via regulation of expression of VEGF or soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1) in both an aortic ring assay and a model of suture-induced corneal angiogenesis.

Downregulation of Homer1b/c improves neuronal survival after traumatic neuronal injury.

Neuroscience

May 2014

Department of Cell Biology, College of Basic Medicine, Fourth Military Medical University, Xi'an 710032, PR China. Electronic address:

Homer protein, a member of the post-synaptic density protein family, plays an important role in the neuronal synaptic activity and is extensively involved in neurological disorders. The present study investigates the role of Homer1b/c in modulating neuronal survival by using an in vitro traumatic neuronal injury model, which was achieved by using a punch device that consisted of 28 stainless steel blades joined together and produced 28 parallel cuts. Downregulation of Homer1b/c by specific siRNA significantly (p<0.

To further improve our developed transumbilical endoscopic surgery (TUES), we developed a completely covert laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). Twelve cases of LC were recruited for this new approach. First, a 10-mm trocar was placed above the umbilicus for inserting the laparoscope.

Optimized transumbilical endoscopic cholecystectomy: a randomized comparison of two procedures.

May 2010

Department of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Tongji University Affiliated Shanghai East Hospital, 150 Jimo Road, Pudong New District, Shanghai, 200120 People's Republic of China.

Background: Natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) and transumbilical endoscopic surgery (TUES) are being developed to improve minimally invasive surgery further. In 2006, the authors developed TUES using a single triple-channel trocar or single-trocar (ST) technique. To minimize the risk and improve the surgical efficiency further, the procedure was optimized using a two-trocar (TT) technique, with both trocars in the umbilicus.

MHC class I allo-grafts can be directly rejected by recipient CD8 T cells and be indirectly rejected by recipient CD4 T cells. Although the experimental results using the bm mutant and C57BL/6 mice indicated that CD4-mediated rejection of class I-disparate grafts is a relatively weak process and is expected to be more sensitive to additional exogenous immunosuppression, it is unclear that whether this mechanism can be used for inducing a specific tolerance of class I disparate grafts. In this study, we hypothesize that a short course of FK506 may induce a specific tolerance of class I-disparate skin grafts in the CD8-depleted recipients.
