Background: Phthalates are endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) ubiquitously present in the environment. There are limited studies on the impact of phthalate exposure during the gestational period on neonatal telomere length.
Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between maternal serum phthalate concentrations in early pregnancy and neonatal telomere length and whether this correlation exhibits sex-specificity.

Constructed wetland coupled with microbial fuel cell (CW-MFC) has been applied for the advanced removal of emerging contaminants and nitrogen due to its sustainability potential. However, the impact of anode positioning on the synergistic removal of disinfection by-products (DBPs) and nitrogen in CW-MFC remains insufficiently understood. In this study, three CW-MFCs with different anode positions were constructed to explore the response differences in the removal of DBPs (represented by haloacetic acids-HAAs) and nitrogen.

Background And Aims: Current guidelines for the optimal ablation strategy for persistent atrial fibrillation(PerAF) remain unclear. While our previous RCT confirmed the favorable prognosis of aggressive ablation, real-world evidence is still lacking.
Methods: Among 4,833 PerAF patients undergoing catheter ablation at 10 centers, two groups were defined: Regular Ablation(PVI-only or PVI plus anatomical ablation) and Aggressive Ablation(anatomical plus electrogram-guided ablation), with 1,560 patients each after propensity score(PS) matching.

Background: The effects of different positional relationships between the probe, needle, and puncture model on in-plane puncture performance have not been fully evaluated. In this simulation study, we used a 4-period crossover design to compare the learning curves of ultrasound-guided in-plane needle placement among 4 different puncture modes by novices.
Methods: Forty residents were randomly assigned to receive training in one of 4 puncture modes according to the placement of the puncture model and the orientation of the probe to the operator: horizontal phantom-parallel probe (HP), horizontal phantom-vertical probe (HV), vertical phantom-parallel probe (VP), and vertical phantom-vertical probe (VV).

Purpose: Pulmonary ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) causes endothelial barrier dysfunction and increased vascular permeability. Fibronectin leucine-rich transmembrane protein-3 (FLRT3) is known to regulate endothelial cell function, but its role in pulmonary IRI remains unexplored.
Methods: We established both a mouse lung I/R model and a hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) cell culture model using human pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells (HPMECs).

In recent years, targeted protein degradation (TPD) strategies leveraging the autophagy-lysosomal pathway (ALP) have transcended the limitations of conventional drug molecules, emerging as a highly promising approach for selectively eliminating disease-related proteins via the cell's intrinsic degradation machinery. These TPD methods, such as autophagosome-tethering compounds (ATTEC), autophagy-targeting chimera (AUTAC), AUTOphagy-TArgeting chimera (AUTOTAC), and chaperone-mediated autophagy (CMA) targeting chimera, exhibit efficacy in degrading misfolded protein aggregates associated with neurodegenerative disorders. Moreover, the excessive accumulation of misfolded proteins or protein complexes in the placenta has been identified as a significant contributor to preeclampsia (PE).

Nature efficiently produces a myriad of structurally diverse carbon ring frameworks from common linear precursors via cyclization reactions at specific olefinic sites in dienes or polyenes. In contrast, achieving the site-selective functionalization of diene or polyene substrates remains a formidable challenge in chemical synthesis. Herein, we report a pair of highly site-selective, regiodivergent carbocyclization reactions of dienallenes and trienallenes, enabling the efficient synthesis of -1,4-disubstituted cyclohexenes and -1,2-disubstituted cyclobutenes from a common precursor with high diastereoselectivity.

Although significant progress in identifying molecular mediators of fibrosis is made, there is still controversy regarding the role and mechanism of autophagy in kidney fibrosis. Here, this study finds that autophagy related 5 (ATG5) is obviously increased in uric acid (UA), aristolochic acid (AA) and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1)-induced HK-2 cells, as well as in kidneys from patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and mice with hyperuricemic nephropathy (HN), aristolochic acid nephropathy (AAN) and unilateral renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (uIRI). Conditional deletion of ATG5 in HN, AAN and uIRI murine models significantly alleviated aberrant glycolysis, attenuated pathological lesions, and improved kidney function.

Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) frequently occurs after surgery, resulting in extended hospitalizations, higher healthcare expenses, and potential long-term cognitive impairment. Despite its significant impact, effective preventive and therapeutic strategies for POCD are still lacking. Neuroinflammation plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of POCD.

Background: Retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) thinning are used as markers of subclinical retinal degeneration to evaluate the effect of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) on disease progression in clinical trials of multiple sclerosis (MS). This study aimed to assess the available evidence regarding the effects of DMTs on retinal thinning in people with MS.
Methods: Databases were searched for studies reporting longitudinal optical coherence tomography (OCT)-derived annualized RNFL and GCIPL thinning in patients receiving DMTs treatment.

Objective: To develop a prognostic model including arterial enhancement fraction of residual tumor (AEF-RT) for predicting progression-free survival (PFS) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients after drug-eluting beads transarterial chemoembolization (DEB-TACE).
Materials And Methods: Between March 2019 and March 2024, 111 HCC patients undergoing DEB-TACE were randomly allocated to a training cohort and a validation cohort in a 7:3 ratio. LASSO regression was applied in the training cohort to identify risk factors for recurrence, which were subsequently used to construct the Cox model.
