Portable point-of-care testing (POCT) is currently drawing enormous attention owing to its great potential for disease diagnosis and personal health management. Electrochemical biosensors, with the intrinsic advantages of cost-effectiveness, fast response, ease of miniaturization, and integration, are considered as one of the most promising candidates for POCT application. However, the clinical application of electrochemical biosensors-based POCT is hindered by the decreased detection sensitivity due to the low abundance of disease-relevant biomolecules in extremely complex biological samples.

Large number of microflora is parasitized in the human intestinal tract, which maintains the stability of the microecological environment in the host's intestinal tract and the healthy state of the body. Once the steady state is out of balance, the intestinal microflora is dysfunctional and a variety of diseases will be induced. Acupuncture and moxibustion have a positive role in improving different types of clinical problems by regulating , harmonizing and , and strengthening the body's resistance.

The development of obesity is inseparable from genetic and epigenetic factors, and transcription factors (TFs) play an essential role in these two mechanisms. This review analyzes the interaction of TFs with epigenetic modifications and the epigenetic mechanisms underlying peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)γ, an important transcription factor, in the development of obesity. We describe the relationship between TFs and different epigenetic modifications and illustrate the several mechanisms described.

Objective: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from nasal mucosa are featured by high division and differentiation capacity, with large nuclei, obvious nucleoli and weak cytoplasmic basophily. Imaging examination, typically CT scan, is the gold standard for the diagnosis of orbital fracture.

Methods: We isolated MSCs derived from goat nasal mucosa and built the calcification model so as to investigate the repair mechanism of nasal mucosa-derived MSCs in orbital fracture.

Diabetic gastroparesis (DGP) is an important complication of diabetes, and seriously impacts the patient's quality of life. In the present paper, the authors summarize national and international research on the mechanism of acupuncture therapy in improving DGP and the pathogenesis of DGP over the past 10 years. The authors illustrate the mechanism of acupuncture underlying the improvement in DGP as follows:1) the effect on autonomic nerves and neurons of the central nervous system; 2) promoting restoration of the enteric nervous system; 3) the effect on Cajal interstitial cells; 4) improving gastrointestinal hormone disorder; 5) improving hyperglycemic state; 6) the effect on gastric smooth muscle.

July 2015

Hubei Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center of Preventive Treatment by Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Wuhan 430061, China ; Acupuncture and Moxibustion College, Hubei University of Chinese Medicine, Wuhan 430061, China.

Obesity is now widespread around the world. Obesity-associated chronic low-grade inflammation is responsible for the decrease of insulin sensitivity, which makes obesity a major risk factor for insulin resistance and related diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndromes. The state of low-grade inflammation is caused by overnutrition which leads to lipid accumulation in adipocytes.

The inhibitory effects of deltamethrin on dopamine biosynthesis in rat PC12 cells.

Toxicol Lett

March 2006

Department of Toxicology, MOE Key Laboratory of Environment and Health, School of Public Health, Tongji Medical College of Huazhong Science and Technology University, Wuhan 430030, China.

The inhibitory effects of deltamethrin (DM) on dopamine biosynthesis in PC12 cells were investigated. Levels of dopamine in PC12 cells were detected after treatment with different doses from 10(-4)M to 10(-6)M deltamethrin or combined with 20 microM or 50 microM l-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-Dopa) for 3 h or 12 h by HPLC. Flow cytometry (FCM) and RT-PCR technology were used to detect the levels of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) mRNA and protein in PC12 cells treated with different doses of deltamethrin for 3 h or 12 h.
