Oral cancer remains a major public concern with considerable socioeconomic impact in the world, especially in southeast Asia. Despite substantial advancements have been made in treating oral cancer, the five-year survival rate for OSCC remained undesirable, and 35-55% patients developed recurrence within two years even with multimodality therapeutic strategies. Hence, identification of novel biomarkers for diagnosis and evaluating clinical outcome is of vital importance.

Lung adenocarcinoma is one of the types of non‑small cell lung carcinoma, which tends to be treated with surgical therapy rather than radiation therapy. It occurs in smokers and non‑smokers, and is the most common form of lung cancer among non‑smokers and women. Gene rearrangements, including ALK, ROS1 and RET, and gene mutations, including epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), HER2, Kristen rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog, BRAF, phosphoinositide‑3‑kinase, catalytic, α polypeptide and MET, have been identified in lung adenocarcinoma, which enable targeted therapy in lung adenocarcinoma, for example erlotinib, gefitinib and afatinib, which are EGFR inhibitors.

Background: It is generally believed that essential hypertension is influenced by both genetic and environmental factors, as well as their interactions. Tissue kallikrein encoded by the tissue kallikrein gene (KLK1) is a key serine proteinase of kallikrein-kinin system, which is capable of generating potent vasactive peptides, kinins, by selective cleavage of the kininogen substrate. It was reported that the A2233 → C polymorphism in KLK1 gene is associated with essential hypertension.

Targeting leukemia initiating cells is considered to be an effective way to cure leukemia, for which it is critical to identify novel therapeutic targets. Herein, we demonstrate that CD244, which was initially reported as a key regulator for natural killer cells, is highly expressed on both mouse and human leukemia initiating cells. Upon CD244 knockdown, human leukemia cell lines and primary leukemia cells have markedly impaired proliferation abilities both and Interestingly, the repopulation ability of both mouse and human hematopoietic stem cells is not impaired upon CD244 knockdown.

Multiple sclerosis is a CD4 T cell-mediated autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. The unbalance of the cytokines and transcription factors critical for CD4 T cell differentiation and function is probably the main reason that causes MS. We detected the mRNA expression changes of key cytokines and transcription factors which are critical for Th1, Th2, Th17, and Treg cell differentiation and function in different tissues during EAE pathogenesis.

Myeloproliferative neoplasms such as polycythemia vera (PV), which are associated with the JAK mutation V617F, remain incurable despite progress in the use of JAK2 inhibitors for treatment of some of these diseases. In this study, we employed mice that undergo JAK2V617F-induced PV as a tool to explore new candidate targets for therapy. Our investigations focused on the lipid metabolic enzyme arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase (Alox5), which we found to be strongly upregulated by JAK2V617F in hematopoietic cells in vitro and in vivo Notably, genetic deletion of Alox5 or its inhibition in mice with a bioactive small-molecule inhibitor was sufficient to attenuate PV development.
