Normal-phase (NP) liquid chromatography is one of the most effective methods for separating isomers with sensitive structural features, including xanthophyll isomers. In this work, reverse-phase (RP) and NP liquid chromatography (LC), with silica gel and diol phase, respectively, were evaluated for the separation of xanthophyll isomers. The results showed that RP LC with monomeric C18 phase not only poorly separate all xanthophyll isomers in egg yolk but also requires additional sample preparation to eliminate triacylglycerols in egg yolk.

Microplastics have become a pressing environmental issue due to their widespread presence in our ecosystems. Among various plastic components, polyethylene (PE) is a prevalent and persistent contaminant. Hydrothermal gasification (HTG), a promising technology for converting PE into syngas, holds great promise for mitigating the microplastic problem.

Microplastics merit attention as they can be ingested by lower trophic organisms, transferred to the food web, and pose potential risks to higher trophic levels. This study investigated the accumulation and effects of polyethylene microbeads (PEMBs, 63-75 μm) on adult water flea Moina macrocopa (600-800 μm), an order-magnitude difference in size, as a result of acute exposure. The organisms were exposed to PEMBs in four treatments of 0 (the Control), 5, 50, and 500 mg PEMB/L for examining PEMB accumulation, survival and reproduction of the organisms after the 24- and 48-h exposures.

Despite extensive efforts, current drug-delivery systems face biological barriers and difficulties in bench-to-clinical use. Biomedical robotic systems have emerged as a new strategy for drug delivery because of their innovative diminutive engines. These motors enable the biorobots to move independently rather than relying on body fluids.

Monkeypox is an infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus (MPXV), a member of the Orthopoxvirus genus closely related to smallpox. The structure of the A42R profilin-like protein is the first and only available structure among MPXV proteins. Biochemical studies of A42R were conducted in the 1990s and later work also analyzed the protein's function in viral replication in cells.

Cluster analysis can also detect abnormalities besides building a basis for identifying elements into clusters. Detecting abnormalities is a highly developed feature in the field of unsupervised learning. However, existing studies have mainly focused on discrete data, not probability density functions.

This study examines the influence of investor attention and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) power on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within Vietnamese family businesses. Unlike most of the past literature, this study further investigates the potential moderating effects of CEOs' power on the relationship between investor attention and CSR. Utilizing the dynamic system Generalized Method of Moments (GMM), this study analyzes a dataset comprising 116 Vietnamese family businesses from 2005 to 2020.

flower buds have been widely used in traditional medicine because of their rich content of bioactive constituents. In this study, we obtained seven solvent extracts from the flower buds and evaluated their total phenolic (TPC), flavonoid (TFC), tannin (TTC), triterpenoid saponin (TSC), and alkaloid (TAC) contents. We assessed antioxidant activities using the DPPH assay and also looked at antimicrobial and enzyme inhibitory effects.

Electrolytic ablation (EA) is a burgeoning treatment for solid tumors, in which electrical energy catalyzes a chemical reaction to generate reactive species that can eradicate cancer cells. However, the application of this technique has been constrained owing to the limited spatial effectiveness and complexity of the electrode designs. Therefore, the incorporation of nanotechnology into EA is anticipated to be a significant improvement.

Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infection diagnosis remains a challenge due to its overlapping clinical symptoms with tuberculosis (TB), leading to inappropriate treatment. Herein, we employed noninvasive metabolic phenotyping coupled with comprehensive statistical modeling to discover potential biomarkers for the differential diagnosis of NTM infection versus TB. Urine samples from 19 NTM and 35 TB patients were collected, and untargeted metabolomics was performed using rapid liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry.

A phytochemical investigation of Kaempferia champasakensis rhizomes led to the isolation of five new pimarane diterpenes, kaempferiols E-I (1-5). The structures of 1-5 were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic techniques, including HR-ESI-MS, UV, IR, and 1D and 2D NMR. The absolute configurations of 1-3 were determined by the modified Mosher method, and those of 4 and 5 were established by ECD calculations.

This study addresses the effect of electron-phonon coupling (EPC) on the electro-optical properties of gated β-borophene. The focus is on how EPC influences the orbital hybridization of boron atoms, particularly within the Bariśic-Labbe-Friedel-Su-Schrieffer-Heeger framework, and considers the role of gate electrodes in this process. The results reveal a redshift in the optical spectrum only when there is positive feedback from one electrode on EPC.

With the aim to resolve the problem of water pollution, we herein propose a new photocatalyst based on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), called La-doped MIL-88B(Fe)-NH (MIL-88B((1 - )Fe/La)-NH), which was designed and employed for the photocatalytic reduction of Cr(vi) in aqueous solutions. MIL-88B((1-)Fe/La)-NH materials with different values were synthesized a one-pot solvothermal method. Their characteristics were investigated using various techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis, Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS).

Video action recognition based on skeleton nodes is a highlighted issue in the computer vision field. In real application scenarios, the large number of skeleton nodes and behavior occlusion problems between individuals seriously affect recognition speed and accuracy. Therefore, we proposed a lightweight multi-stream feature cross-fusion (L-MSFCF) model to recognize abnormal behaviors such as fighting, vicious kicking, climbing over the wall, et al.

There is limited information regarding the influence of mangrove growth on the morphological evolution of intertidal mudflats. In this study, Tan Phu Dong district, Tien Giang Province, Vietnam, was selected for investigating how mangrove growth influenced the morphological evolution of an intertidal mudflat. The authors analyzed a series of satellite images (from 1995 and 2022), calculated the enhanced vegetation index (EVI), and documented field visits and observations in pursuit of the objective of the study.
