The atmosphere is an important transport medium for polymeric anthropogenic particles such as microplastics (MPs). The analysis of particles deposited on the snowpack enables monitoring the abundance and transport of MPs and semi-synthetic fibers. In the current study, the abundance of MPs and man-made textile fibers in deposited snow in Western Siberia, Russia, was investigated in a large area ranging from the Altai Mountains (52°01″N) to the Arctic Circle (66°30″N).

The in-hospital mortality rate in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) remains high despite the undoubted achievements in treatment of this disease achieved in the last 40 years. The dangerous complications of AMI remain cardiac microvascular injury (CMI) and intramyocardial hemorrhage (IMH). Objective: Atrial cardiomyopathy is closely associated with atrial fibrillation (AF), and some patients exhibit no dysfunction at rest but demonstrate evident changes in left atrial (LA) function and LA volume during exercise. This study aimed to identify distinguishing signs during exercise stress echocardiography (ESE) among patients in sinus rhythm (SR), with and without history of paroxysmal/persistent AF (PAF).
Methods: A prospective cohort of 1055 patients in SR was enrolled across 12 centers.

Advanced optical imaging provides a powerful tool for the structural and functional analysis of tissues with high resolution and contrast, but the imaging performance decreases as light propagates deeper into the tissue. Tissue optical clearing technique demonstrates an innovative way to realize deep-tissue imaging and have emerged substantially in the last two decades. Here, we briefly reviewed the basic principles of tissue optical clearing techniques in the view of delivery strategies via either free diffusion or external forces-driven advection, and the commonly-used optical techniques for monitoring kinetics of clearing agents in tissue, as well as their ex vivo to in vivo applications in multiple biomedical research fields.

We studied the radical-binding and antioxidant activities of the alkaloid tryptanthrin (TR) and its new synthetic derivative tryptanthrin oxime (TR-Ox), as well as the cytoprotective activity of TR-Ox under conditions of oxidative stress. The antiradical activity of TR-Ox was revealed in the test of binding with stable chromogen radical 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and in the superoxide radical generation test (riboflavin photoreduction reaction with detection by NBT reduction). TR-Ox was inferior to ionol and dihydroquercetin by the antiradical activity.

We studied the effect of NF-κB blockade on the state of various pools of progenitor cells of the nervous tissue and the psychoneurological status of experimental animals with modeled Alzheimer's disease. Administration of scopolamine hydrobromide to C57BL/6 mice for 4 weeks was accompanied by the development of "persistent" disturbances in the orientation and exploratory behavior and mnestic function. An ameliorating effect of the NF-κB inhibitor on these cognitive disorders typical of senile dementia was revealed.

The aim of this study is to investigate the role of intestinal flora and its metabolites, particularly short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), in the development of PCOS, and to assess the effects of metformin therapy on these components.
