Ischemic heart disease is the main global cause of death in the world. Abnormal sulfide catabolism, especially hydrogen sulfide accumulation, impedes mitochondrial respiration and worsens the prognosis after ischemic insults, but the substantial therapeutic strategy has not been established. Non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma irradiation therapy is attracted attention as it exerts beneficial effects by producing various reactive molecular species.

Introduction: Cell processing facilities are susceptible to environmental bacteria and must maintain sterile environments to safeguard cell products. This process involves circulating air through high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters, which incurs significant maintenance costs. While cost-reduction strategies have been explored in the semiconductor industry, validations specific to cell processing facilities remain unreported.

The phase separation of the NaO-BO-SiO system was explored both theoretically and experimentally in order to attain a spinodal structure having a narrowed periodic distance (<70 nm) with the porosity being kept at ∼60%. The phase separation was dealt with by two stages: an initial thermodynamic process of spinodal decomposition and a latter growth of the spinodal structure. The initial structural development was related to the interfacial energy and the change in free energy caused by phase separation.

Purpose: To assess the benefits of using the touched vertebra (TV) rule in Lenke classification for thoracic curves of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS).
Methods: A total of 141 AIS patients with thoracic curves determined by Suk classification were divided based on whether the lowest instrumented vertebra (LIV) matched the TV into groups of mTV (n = 84, LIV = TV), TV- (n = 21, LIV above TV), and TV+ (n = 36, LIV below TV) for 5-year follow-up. The radiological parameters were the central sacral vertical line (CSVL)-LIV distance, distal end vertebra rotation, coronal, and sagittal parameters.

Background: Identifying liver ischemia is crucial in liver surgery. This study aimed to develop a hemi-hepatic ischemia model for assessing liver ischemia using single snapshot imaging of optical properties (SSOP), a noninvasive optical imaging modality that provides real-time measurements of tissue oxygen saturation (StO2).
Materials And Methods: Twelve swine were randomly assigned to two groups: One undergoing total vascular inflow occlusion (TVIO) and the other undergoing hepatic artery occlusion (HAO).

Background: Financial toxicity impacts the treatment choices, daily life, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of cancer patients. We investigated future variations in financial toxicity and HRQoL of patients with gynecologic cancer, evaluated using the COmprehensive Score for financial Toxicity (COST) questionnaire.
Methods: This multicenter study enrolled patients with gynecologic cancer incurring co-payments for anti-cancer drug treatment for over 2 months.

Tissue clearing, coupled with immunostaining, enables the transition from two-dimensional to three-dimensional pathology and has the potential to substantially improve data quality for biomedical diagnostics. Nevertheless, the workflows are limited by the complex sample processing protocols. Approaches for the parallel processing of samples, to include tissue clearing, immunostaining, imaging and analysis can increase three-dimensional pathology throughput.

The construction industry significantly impacts the environment through natural resource depletion and energy consumption, leading to environmental degradation. Circular Economy (CE) material efficiency strategies-such as material reuse, design for disassembly, prefabrication, and recycling-offer promising solutions for reducing resource consumption and waste. This paper explores stakeholders' perspectives on the costs and benefits of implementing CE material efficiency strategies in the construction industry, using the 3-R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) framework.

Leveraging the features of the GstLAL pipeline, we present the results of a matched filtering search for asymmetric binary black hole systems with heavily misaligned spins in LIGO and Virgo data taken during the third observing run. Our target systems show strong imprints of precession whereas current searches have nonoptimal sensitivity in detecting them. After measuring the sensitivity improvement brought by our search over standard spin-aligned searches, we report the detection of 30 gravitational wave events already discovered in the latest version of the Gravitational Wave Transient Catalog.

Orofacial morphology in mammals plays a critical role in essential life functions such as feeding and communication, which are influenced by the shapes of these anatomical structures. Bats are known to exhibit highly diversified orofacial morphotypes within their clade, reflecting their varied diets and echolocation behaviors. The presence of bony discontinuities between the premaxilla and maxilla or among the premaxillae is a notable feature of bat orofacial morphology, observed in certain lineages.

Purpose: Large Language Models (LLMs) show promise in medical diagnosis, but their performance varies with prompting. Recent studies suggest that modifying prompts may enhance diagnostic capabilities. This study aimed to test whether a prompting approach that aligns with general clinical reasoning methodology-specifically, using a standardized template to first organize clinical information into predefined categories (patient information, history, symptoms, examinations, etc.

Background/objectives: Limited resources and staffing hinders efforts to reduce preventable blindness, especially in low- to middle-income countries. The slit-lamp examination (SLE), which is essential for ophthalmology practices, is often unavailable in primary and secondary eye care facilities due to the high costs and lengthy training required for operation. We conducted a cross-sectional, multicentre study exploring the potential for a smart eye camera (SEC; a tele-ophthalmology handheld device developed by OUI Inc.

Safety is crucial in the railway industry because railways transport millions of passengers and employees daily, making it paramount to prevent injuries and fatalities. In order to guarantee passenger safety, computer vision, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and artificial intelligence will be essential tools in the near future for routinely evaluating the railway environment. An unmanned aerial vehicle captured dataset for railroad segmentation and obstacle detection (UAV-RSOD) comprises high-resolution images captured by UAVs over various obstacles within railroad scenes, enabling automatic railroad extraction and obstacle detection.
