Dalton Trans

January 2025

Department of Chemistry, Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University, 6-3 Arama-ki-Aza-Aoba, Aoba-ku, Sendai 980-8578, Japan.

A new approach for hydrogen isotope separation using an unsaturated organometallic complex was proposed. Adsorption measurements of [Mn(dppe)(CO)(N)](BArF) (Mn-dppe) (dppe = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane, BArF = B[CH(3,5-CF)]) using H and D revealed a significant difference in the adsorption enthalpy of H/D at much higher room temperatures than in previous studies, with D molecules being more strongly adsorbed on unsaturated metal sites. Mixed gas adsorption isotherms were calculated at each temperature using IAST, and it was predicted that D uptake was much larger than H uptake.

In conventional laser-based powder bed fusion of polymers (PBF-LB/P), aging of the powder due to preheating of the powder bed is a significant issue. This paper proposes a method for low-temperature PBF-LB/P using a semi-sintering process that minimizes powder aging caused by preheating. By partially semi-sintering the low-temperature powder bed, it was possible to execute the PBF-LB/P while avoiding the aging of most of the powder.

Combination of organoclay sorption with manganese(IV) oxide (MnO) catalyzed catechol oxidation was studied for the removal of a dicarboximide fungicide, iprodione, from water. Iprodion in water was sorbed on didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (DDAB)-modified montmorillonite (MT) organoclay and converted into the degraded product, 3,5-dichloroaniline (DCA). The degree of sorption increased by the modification with DDAB, because of the formation of a hydrophobic region for the incorporation of iprodione and negligibly interfered by coexisting MnO.

Supported anisotropic bimetallic nanocrystals are attractive owing to their potential for novel catalytic applications. Au-Pd nanocrystals are expected to have higher catalytic activity for alcohol oxidation than Au nanocrystals. However, only a few studies have reported the application of anisotropic Au-Pd nanocrystals as alcohol-oxidation nanocatalysts.

A silicon-based three-dimensional dosimeter can be formed in a free shape without a container and deformed because of its flexibility. Several studies have focused on enhancing its radiological characteristics and assessing its applicability as a quality assurance tool for image-guided and adaptive radiation therapy, considering motion and deformation. Here, we applied a fluorescence probe (dihydrorhodamine 6G, DHR6G) to a silicon elastomer as a new radiosensitive compound that converts nonfluorescent into fluorescent dyes using irradiation, and its fluorescence intensity increases linearly with the absorbed dose.

The combination of laser ablation and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) offers a powerful tool for directly analyzing solid samples. However, LA-ICP-MS has a limitation in quantitative analyses owing to a requirement for matrix-matched standard materials. In this study, we have developed a sample preparation method that facilitates quantitative analyses by LA-ICP-MS.

Inkjet printing of mechanochromic fluorenylidene-acridane.

Sci Rep

October 2022

Department of Chemical Systems Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University, Furo-cho, Chikusa-ku, Nagoya, 464-8603, Japan.

In mechanochromic material research, a serious problem is that mechanical treatment cannot be applied to the materials because of their responsiveness to stimuli. Inkjet printing is a useful solution deposition method for electronics, but materials must be processed to be suitable for an inkjet printer. Fluorenylidene-acridane (FA) exhibits ground-state mechanochromism with visual color changes and responds not only to mechanical pressure but also to alcohol.
