Transcultural study of schizophrenic delusions. Tokyo versus Vienna and Tübingen (Germany).

Schizophrenic delusions of 324 inpatients in Tokyo, 101 in Vienna, and 150 in Tübingen (Germany) were compared according to the same classifications. Among the three areas, about 80% of the patients had equally 'negative' delusions (injury and/or belittlement), and about one-fourth had 'positive' delusions of grandeur. Effects on Performance of Interpolated Tasks During the KR Delay or the Post-KR Delay Interval.

The present study was designed to investigate the nature of motor information processing in the intertrial intervals of a discrete motor task. In Experiment 1, the subjects were given the task of grasping the dynamometer with an intensity yielding a value as close as possible to the target value (40% of the subject's maximum grasping power). The exercise session consisted of 5 trials without Knowledge of Results (NO-KR phase), and 30 trials with Knowledge of Results (KR phase).

[Relationship of physical condition and functional capacity to depressive status in person aged 75 years].

The purpose of the present study is to examine cross-sectionally and longitudinally the relationship of physical conditions and functional capacity to depressive status in the elderly. Subjects comprised 308 men and women aged 75 years and over living at home in a rural community. Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) was employed to assess depressive status, and physical conditions and functional capacity were simultaneously investigated.

Effectiveness of daily living abilities (DLA) as a tool for evaluating vocational competencies: study of non-disabled workers aged 45 and over.

A questionnaire survey was conducted on 28-55 items of daily living abilities (DLA) linked to 13 basic vocational competencies such as memory, learning, planning, judgement, muscular power and concentration covering a total of 505 non-disabled blue collar male workers aged 45 and over. [Clinical analysis of 130 cases of Siberian silicosis].

One hundred thirty patients with Siberian silicosis occurring under exposure to large amounts of dust at labor in a siberian mine were analyzed for 67 clinical and 122 laboratory data. Eighty-eight of 130 patients are now alive, but 42 have already died. When they started work, 122 of the patients were under thirty years of age.

Efficiency and proficiency of bimanual cranking: differences between two cranking patterns.

The efficiency and motor proficiency of an arm ergometer exercise were evaluated for two different cranking methods, cranking in the forward and reverse directions. 8 young men participated. Their heart rates were measured as an index of energy consumption.

ADL abilities and vocational competencies: Blue-collar workers aged 45 years and over.

A questionnaire composed of 55 items that addressed activities of daily living (ADL) abilities and 13 basic vocational competencies, such as memory and muscular power, was completed by 48 nondisabled male workers aged ≥45 years. The workers were all engaged in the manufacturing industry. All respondents found the following five tasks easy to do: wring a towel, put arms through sleeves, open and shut a door, turn a tap on and off, and open and shut a sliding door.

In simultaneous acquisitions of both 99mTc and other radionuclide, there are crosstalks onto those photopeak windows. Therefore, to quantify the organ uptake in scintigraphic imaging, it is important to correct the crosstalk counts. The purpose of this study is to estimate the crosstalk fractions onto each photopeak window from other radionuclide.

Localization of a constant-touch and moving-touch stimulus in the hand: a preliminary study.

There are limited normative data available defining a subject's ability to localize a constant-touch or moving-touch stimulus. The results that are obtainable to date have not been objectively measured so that they are reproducible. This study of a normal population suggests a standard to measure the error in a patient's capacity to localize both a constant-touch and a moving-touch stimulus.

Comparison of schizophrenic delusions between Japan and Germany.

[Gamma-ray spectra of 201Tl-radiopharmaceuticals with a scintillation camera--crosstalk of contaminating nuclides of 200Tl and/or 202Tl onto 201Tl-photopeaks].

In cardiac imaging with 201Tl, the collimator for low energy high resolution is generally used, and also the energy window, which is set on the spectral display of a pulse height analyzer of a scintillation camera, is chosen 70 +/- 12.5 keV. The purpose of this study is to discuss those conditions in 201Tl imaging with the scintillation camera.

[Comparison of SPECT images with four kinds of 99mTc collimators].

Performance of SPECT imaging systems which use a rotating gamma camera, are affected by characteristics of the detector-collimator assembly, the data acquisition method, and the filter used in image reconstruction. The purpose of this study is to examine image qualities of SPECT with different types of low energy collimators. The SPECT imaging system in this study is a rotating gamma camera ZLC-7500 (Siemens) and a data processing unit Scintipac-700 (Shimadzu).

Relationship between sensibility and ability to read braille in diabetics.

Twenty-five vision-impaired diabetics received an evaluation of sensibility. Each subject had received 2 years of instruction in braille reading at the Konan Rehabilitation Center prior to the sensibility testing. Sensibility evaluation consisted of cutaneous pressure threshold measurements with the Semmes-Weinstein monofilament and evaluation of moving and static two-point discrimination with Disk-Criminator.
