We developed an AI system capable of automatically classifying anterior eye images as either normal or indicative of corneal diseases. This study aims to investigate the influence of AI's misleading guidance on ophthalmologists' responses. This cross-sectional study included 30 cases each of infectious and immunological keratitis.

Differentiating intraparotid facial nerve schwannoma from other parotid tumors, particularly pleomorphic adenoma, is clinically crucial due to significant differences in treatment approaches. We report a case of a male patient in his 70s presenting with a left parotid mass. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) revealed a mass within the left parotid gland exhibiting the characteristic ``target sign''.

Objective Switching from one anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide monoclonal antibody (CGRP mAb) to another can be beneficial for treating patients with migraine who do not respond well to the first CGRP mAb. However, detailed and long-term follow-up reports of both efficacy and safety remain insufficient. We conducted a case-series analysis of patients with migraine who switched from galcanezumab to erenumab, both belonging to the class of CGRP mAbs.

Background: The intravenous olfactory test (alinamin test [AT]) is a retronasal olfactory assessment and may evaluate the flavour disorder; however, studies assessing whether AT accurately determines the severity of taste disorders are lacking. Our study aims to evaluate the relationship between AT and subjective taste disorders in the patiensts with olfactory disorder.
Methods: Between April 2019 and March 2020, 228 patients visited our smell clinic reporting olfactory disorders.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Women with genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) may have anxiety and depression; however, this is unclear.
Methods: A total of 646 postmenopausal women undergoing treatment for menopausal symptoms were enrolled in this retrospective cross-sectional study. Questionnaire responses were recorded at the first visit, and participants were divided into GSM (≥1 moderate or severe GSM symptom) or no-GSM (without any moderate/severe symptoms) groups.

Intracellular dark endothelial spots (IDESs) on specular microscopy developed in 78/122 patients (63.9%) after Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK). Endothelial cell density (ECD) after DSAEK was significantly smaller in eyes with IDES when compared with those without at all time points (p<0.

Background: Patients with migraine are typically advised to avoid passive smoking because it may aggravate headaches and other health conditions. However, there is insufficient high-quality evidence on the association between passive smoking and migraine, which warrants further investigation using animal models. Therefore, using a mouse model, we examined the effect of passive smoking on susceptibility to cortical spreading depolarization (CSD), the biological basis of migraine with aura.

Background And Objectives: Lymphaticovenular anastomosis (LVA) is a surgical technique used to alleviate lymphedema by bypassing the lymphatic and venous vessels and facilitating lymphatic fluid drainage. Accurate evaluation of anastomotic patency is crucial for assessing LVA outcomes. Traditional near-infrared fluorescence lymphography has limitations, including fluorescence diffusion in subcutaneous fat and difficulty evaluating areas beneath the dermal backflow.

Background: The annual administration of the influenza vaccine is the most effective method for preventing influenza. We have evaluated the effectiveness of the inactivated influenza vaccine in children aged 6 months to 15 years across the seasons from 2013/2014 to 2022/2023. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the inactivated influenza vaccine in the 2023/2024 season, the first year following the easing of strict COVID-19 measures, and possibly the last season when only the inactivated vaccine is available on the market.

Objective: The Efficacy of Inhaled Hydrogen on Neurologic Outcome Following Brain Ischemia During Post-Cardiac Arrest Care (HYBRID) II trial (jRCTs031180352) suggested that hydrogen inhalation may reduce post-cardiac arrest brain injury (PCABI). However, the combination of hypothermic target temperature management (TTM) and hydrogen inhalation on outcomes is unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the combined effect of hydrogen inhalation and hypothermic TTM on outcomes after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).

Physicians, physical therapists, and occupational therapists have traditionally assessed hand motor function in hemiplegic patients but often struggle to evaluate complex hand movements. To address this issue, in 2019, we developed Fahrenheit, a device and algorithm that uses infrared camera image processing to estimate hand paralysis. However, due to Fahrenheit's dependency on specialized equipment, we conceived a simpler solution: developing a smartphone app that integrates MediaPipe.

Background: Although adjuvant gemcitabine (GEM) monotherapy improves the overall survival (OS) of patients with resected pancreatic cancer, its efficacy requires further improvement. This multicenter, phase II study investigated the efficacy of adjuvant portal vein infusion (PVI) chemotherapy followed by GEM therapy in patients with resected pancreatic cancer.
Methods: 5-fluorouracil (250 mg/day) and heparin (2000 IU/day) PVI chemotherapy were combined with systemic administration of mitomycin C (4 mg; days 6, 13, 20, and 27) and cisplatin (10 mg; days 7, 14, 21, and 28) for 4 weeks (PI4W), followed by GEM (1000 mg/m2; days 1, 8, and 15 every 4 weeks for 6 months).

Background: In the classification of premenstrual disorders (PMDs), premenstrual exacerbation (PME) is listed as one of the variants of PMDs, along with core PMD. However, the incidence of PME and its impact on mental health and quality of life have not been investigated. Therefore, we investigated the proportion of PME among women seeking treatment for premenstrual symptoms in Japan and compared the levels of anxiety, depression and quality of life between women with PME and those with core PMD.

CorneAI for iOS is an artificial intelligence (AI) application to classify the condition of the cornea and cataract into nine categories: normal, infectious keratitis, non-infection keratitis, scar, tumor, deposit, acute primary angle closure, lens opacity, and bullous keratopathy. We evaluated its performance to classify multiple conditions of the cornea and cataract of various races in images published in the Cornea journal. The positive predictive value (PPV) of the top classification with the highest predictive score was 0.
