The encapsulation of stem cells into alginate microspheres is an important aspect of tissue engineering or bioprinting which ensures cell growth and development. We previously demonstrated the encapsulation of stem cells using the hanging drop method. However, this conventional process takes a relatively long time and only produces a small-volume droplet.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have a crucial role in the regulation of gene expression in tumor development, invasion, and metastasis. Herein, miRNA-340 (miR-340) has been shown to play tumor suppressor activity in breast cancer (BC). However, the clinical applications of miRNAs request the development of safe and effective delivery systems capable of protecting nucleic acids from degradation.

Background: Histone deacetylase 2 (HDAC2), belonging to the class I HDAC family, holds significant therapeutic potential as a crucial target for diverse cancer types. As key players in the realm of epigenetic regulatory enzymes, histone deacetylases (HDACs) are intricately involved in the onset and progression of cancer. Consequently, pursuing isoform-specific inhibitors targeting histone deacetylases (HDACs) has garnered substantial interest in both biological and medical circles.

An anticancer drug known as Rapamycin acts by inhibiting the mammalian target of the Rapamycin pathway. This agent has recently been investigated for its potential therapeutic benefits in sensitizing drug-resistant breast cancer (BC) treatment. The molecular mechanism underlying these effects, however, is still a mystery.

Hydrogel scaffold has been widely applied as drug delivery systems for treating skin injuries. However, the poor drug loading and rapid drug release of hydrogel restricted their application. In the current study, we present a nanoliposome containing sulforaphane (SF) as a nano-drug delivery system that is encapsulated within the scaffold hydrogel system to overcome these limitations and improve wound healing.

Introduction: This study focused on preparing a multiscale three-dimensional (3D) scaffold using tricalcium phosphate nanoparticles (triCaPNPs) in a substrate of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) polymer for controlled release of exosomes in bone tissue engineering.
Methods: A scaffold was fabricated with a material mixture containing acrylic acid (AA) monomer, N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide (MBAA), ammonium persulfate (APS), sodium bicarbonate (SBC), and triCaPNPs called composite scaffold (PAA/triCaPNPs) via cross-linking and freeze-drying methods. The synthesis process was easy and without complex multi-steps.

A 42-year-old female contact lens wearer presented to a local emergency department with a 3-day history of decreased vision and ocular discomfort in her right eye. She was started on topical fluorometholone and oral acyclovir with initial diagnosis of herpes simplex keratitis. After 3 weeks of worsening symptoms, she was diagnosed with bacterial corneal ulcer and treated with levofloxacin eye drops every 2 hr.

Objective: Diabetes in pregnancy is a prevalent disease that can affect the central nervous system of the fetus by hyperglycemia. This study aimed to investigate the impact of maternal diabetes on neuronal apoptosis in the superior colliculus (SC) and the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) in male neonates born to diabetic mothers.
Materials And Methods: In this experimental study, female adult rats were separated into three groups: control, diabetic (induced using an intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin), and insulin-treated diabetic [diabetes controlled by subcutaneous neutral protamine hagedorn (NPH)-insulin injection].

During the past decades, tremendous advances have occurred in manufacturing recombinant therapeutic proteins in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells. Nevertheless, the production of stable high-producing cell lines has remained a major obstacle in the development process of the CHO cell line. It has been shown that genomic regulatory elements can promote cell line development efficiency by improving transgenes' productivity and stability.

A cutaneous wound is caused by various injuries in the skin, which can be wrapped with an efficient dressing. Electrospinning is a straightforward adjustable technique that quickly and continuously generates nanofibrous wound dressings containing antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents to promote wound healing. The present study investigated the physicochemical and biological properties of bromelain (BRO)- and silver nanoparticle (Ag NPs)-loaded gel-based electrospun polycaprolactone/chitosan (PCL/CS) nanofibrous dressings for wound-healing applications.

The Glu-Urea-Lys (EUK) pharmacophore as prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-targeted ligand was synthesized, radiolabeled with Tc-tricarbonyl-imidazole-BPS chelation system, and biological activities were evaluated. The strategy [2 + 1] ligand is applied for tricarbonyl labeling. (5-imidazole-1-yl)pentanoic acid as a monodentate ligand and bathophenanthroline disulfonate (BPS) as a bidentate ligand formed a chelate system with Tc-tricarbonyl.
