Few reports have highlighted the rare presence of somatic variants in clinically aggressive, metastatic pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma (PCC/PGL); however, none have addressed detailed clinical presentation (including biochemistry and imaging) and management of these patients. Here, we address these clinical features and management based on four PCC patients with somatic variants from our National Institutes of Health PCC/PGL cohort. A total of 192 patients underwent exome sequencing (germline, somatic, or both), and four males were found to have somatic variants (with additional somatic and oncogenic variants in patients 2 and 4, respectively).

A retrospective study of 39 patients treated for sinonasal adenocarcinoma between 1995 and 2010 was performed. Epidemiological, clinical, histological, and therapeutic aspects of this series of patients were analyzed statistically and their impact in terms of overall and disease-free survival established using the Kaplan-Meier method. A search for prognostic factors was made using a log-rank test.

Preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) against HIV is currently the subject of great interest, as clinical trials have shown high efficacy in terms of decreasing transmission among men who have sex with men. Because the prevalence of bacterial sexual transmitted infections (STIs) is increasing within this community, a recent pilot study demonstrated the efficacy of reducing transmission of bacterial STIs by administering PrEP with daily doxycycline to men who have sex with men. This creative initiative raises several questions which are discussed in this review.

Aims: To determine the prognosis of patients with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, 6 years after screening for silent myocardial ischaemia (SMI).
Methods: Two hundred and three asymptomatic patients with diabetes underwent systematic SMI screening. From the results of this screening, they were allocated to one of three groups: patients (n = 171) with negative screening; patients (n = 32) with positive screening; and patients (n = 21) with positive screening and coronary stenosis.

Lingual nerve damage is one of the most common complications of lower third molar removal. However evaluation of the factor involved in these lesions is difficult since most previous series are heterogeneous. The purpose of this prospective randomized study was to ascertain the impact of lingual nerve protection in a homogeneous series including only patients undergoing third molar germectomy (i.
