Ischemic spinal cord injury remains a major complication of both open and endovascular repairs of extensive lesions of the thoracic or thoracoabdominal aorta. Patients undergoing endovascular treatment cannot benefit from direct revascularization of the Adamkiewicz artery (AA). Primary revascularization of the intercostal artery (ICA) giving rise to the AA using the internal mammary artery (IMA) could ensure uninterrupted flow in the AA even if the origin of the feeding ICA was obstructed.

The aim of this retrospective study was to compare the diagnostic accuracy between positron emission tomography (PET) and combined PET/computed tomography (PET/CT) in the detection of recurrent head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and to evaluate the degree of interobserver agreement. Thirty-two patients who had undergone curative treatment for HNSCC and who presented with a suspicion of recurrent local disease were studied with fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG)-PET imaging. All patients had undergone an inconclusive conventional workup (nasofibroscopy, CT scan and/or MRI).

Paragangliomas of the neck region arise most commonly in the carotid and vagal bodies. The goal of this retrospective study is to evaluate intraoperative vascular and neurological morbidity and to define the therapeutic strategy. During the period 1990-2004, 32 patients with 42 neck paragangliomas were referred to our institution (Head and Neck Service, Otolaryngology Federation, CHU La Timone, Marseilles, France).

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that severe multipedicular lesions involving supraaortic trunks cause compromised cerebral hemodynamics with nonhemispheric symptoms (NHS) that can be relieved by surgical treatment. A total of 11 patients were prospectively included in the study. Regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) and cerebral blood flow reactivity (CBFR) were measured by acetazolamide single photon emission computed tomoscintigraphy scans (SPECT) before and after surgery.

Recurrence is a major problem after release of temporomandibular joint ankylosis. Early physiotherapy and choice of interpositional material are important in preventing recurrence. Currently, the most used technique is gap arthroplasty associated with coronoidectomy, temporalis muscle flap interposition and reconstruction of the condylar unit with a costochondral graft.

A variety of interposition materials have been used to prevent recurrence after arthroplasty in treatment of temporomandibular joint ankylosis. The purpose of this retrospective study of our experience was to compare the different materials (skin, temporal muscle, homologous cartilage) used for interposition arthroplasty over a period of 22 years. A total of 25 patients (32 joints) with at least 3 years of follow-up were included.

Objective: The classic technique for open reduction of subcondylar fracture is the submandibular approach. The aim of this study was to evaluate long-term clinical and radiologic results of the short retromandibular approach to displaced subcondylar fractures.
Material And Methods: During a period of 66 months we performed a prospective study with a modified version of the retromandibular approach in 38 patients with displaced subcondylar fractures.
