Background: Percutaneous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) has been developed thanks to the progress in the field of cannulation, but still justifies the presence of an on-site cardiac resuscitation department. Corsica is a French island without an on-site cardiac surgery department.

Aim: To evaluate the percutaneous ECMO programme in Corsica.

Genomic Landscape of Thrombosis Recurrence Risk Across Venous Thromboembolism Subtypes.

Venous thromboembolism (VT) is a frequent (annual incidence of 1 to 2 per 1,000) and potentially life-threatening (case-fatality rate up to 10%) disease. VT is associated with serious short-term and long-term complications including a recurrence rate of approximately 20% within five years. Anticoagulant therapy, the mainstay of VT treatment, drastically reduces the risk of early VT recurrence, but it exposes patients to a substantial risk of bleeding.

CSNK2B Mutation: A Rare Cause of IGHD.

Objective: Poirier-Bienvenu neurodevelopmental syndrome (POBINDS) is a rare neurodevelopmental syndrome, resulting from germline heterozygous CSNKB2 pathogenic variants. The main presentations are severe epilepsy, delayed psychomotor development, and/or profound intellectual disability. More recently, CSNK2B pathogenic variants have been reported in patients with mild intellectual disability and no history of epileptic symptoms.

Switching from dupilumab to tralokinumab or Janus kinase inhibitors in cases of ocular and/or facial adverse events in patients with atopic dermatitis: a multicenter retrospective study.

Background: Patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) may discontinue dupilumab owing to dupilumab-induced ocular adverse events (DOAEs) or dupilumab-induced facial redness (DFR).

Objective: To evaluate DOAE and DFR outcomes after switching to tralokinumab or Janus kinase inhibitor (JAKi).

Methods: This retrospective study included 106 patients discontinuing dupilumab because of DOAEs and/or DFR.

Introduction/aims: It is imperative to screen asymptomatic carriers of transthyretin (TTR) mutations to initiate treatment early. The protocol for repeated electrodiagnostic (EDX) assessments over time lacks standardization. Our aim was to report the electrophysiological evolution of a cohort of asymptomatic carriers and to determine which biomarkers were most sensitive to change.

Deciphering F-DOPA uptake in SDH-related head and neck paragangliomas: a radiomics approach.

Purpose: To investigate the influence of germline succinate dehydrogenase (SDHx) pathogenic variants on 6-[F]-fluoro-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (F-DOPA) Positron Emission Tomography (PET) radiomic signature of head and neck paragangliomas (HNPGLs).

Methods: Forty-seven patients (20 SDH pathogenic variants carriers) harboring 55 HNPGLs were retrospectively included. HNPGLs were delineated using Nestle adaptive threshold.

Background And Objectives: Intramuscular fat fraction (FF), assessed using quantitative MRI (qMRI), has emerged as a promising biomarker for hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTRv) patients. Currently, the main drawbacks to its use in future therapeutic trials are its sensitivity to change over a short period of time and the time-consuming manual segmentation step to extract quantitative data. This pilot study aimed to demonstrate the suitability of an Artificial Intelligence-based (AI) segmentation technique to assess disease progression in a real-life cohort of ATTRv patients over 1 year.

Risk of metachronous peritoneal metastases after surgery for obstructive colon cancer: Multivariate analysis from a series of 1,085 patients.

Background: Data in the literature suggest that obstruction is an independent predictor of poor prognosis in colon cancer. Of all possible sites of recurrence, peritoneal metastases are associated with worse survival. Our aim was to report the incidence of metachronous peritoneal metastases from a cohort of patients undergoing resection of obstructive colon cancer with curative intent and to identify predictive factors for metachronous peritoneal metastases.

Adaptive dosing of high-dose busulfan in real-world adult patients undergoing haematopoietic cell transplant conditioning.

Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of a Bayesian adaptive dosing strategy in achieving target busulfan exposure in adult patients undergoing haematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT).

Methods: This study included 71 adult patients scheduled to receive high-dose busulfan. Busulfan was administered to achieve a cumulative area under the curve (AUC) of 66.

Neurosurgery in a Pacific archipelago: how to provide optimal care. Experience of the opening of a first-line neurosurgery department.

Introduction: In the beginning of November 2023, the authors launched a neurosurgery department in Nouméa, New Caledonia. Emergency cranial surgeries are performed by orthopedic surgeons. All other cases are transferred to Australia or mainland France.

Comparison of surgical management and outcomes of acute right colic and sigmoid diverticulitis: a French national retrospective cohort study.

Background: Acute right colic diverticulitis (ARD) is less frequent in Western countries than acute sigmoid diverticulitis (ASD). We aimed to compare the management of ARD and ASD operated on in emergency.

Methods: All consecutive patients who had emergency surgery for ASD and ARD (2010-2021) were included in a retrospective, multicenter, cohort study.

LIPOPULP. The impact of fat grafting on pulp sensitivity in fingertip injuries: A retrospective study of seven patients.

Objective: This study analyzes the impact of fat grafting on pulp sensitivity disorders in patients who experienced fingertip injuries and developed cold intolerance and hyperesthesia.

Material/method: Patients over 10 years old were evaluated using the two-point discriminant score (2PDS), the monofilament test, and the McCabe Cold Sensitivity Severity Scale (CSS) before and after surgery at 3, 6, and 12 months. Other evaluations included the Quick Dash scale (Q-dash), the aesthetics and pain improvement, and patient satisfaction.

Tracking myasthenia gravis severity over time: Insights from the French health insurance claims database.

Background And Purpose: Few data are available on the course of myasthenia gravis (MG) regarding disease severity and stability over time in real-world settings. This study used the French National Health Insurance Database (SNDS) to assess markers of disease severity in patients with MG longitudinally.

Methods: All patients with MG-related claims in the SNDS between 2013 and 2020 were identified.

Background: The long-term recurrence risk after a pregnancy-associated venous thromboembolism (VTE) is sparsely assessed.

Introduction: Right diaphragmatic excursion is a reliable and reproducible technique used in intensive care to assess diaphragmatic function. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the appearance of diaphragmatic motion and the etiological diagnosis of patients admitted to the emergency department with acute respiratory failure (ARF).

Materials: A prospective, observational, and multicenter pilot study was conducted.

Impact of non-ionising radiation of male fertility: a systematic review.

Exposure to non-ionizing radiation has become inevitable because people cannot escape sources of electromagnetic fields, such as Wi-Fi or cell phones. Among the mechanisms mentioned, the energy emitted by this non-ionizing radiation could cause heating which would have harmful effects on semen quality. The objective of our study was to carry out a systematic review of the literature concerning the impact of exposure to non-ionizing radiation from mobile phones (or other sources) on sperm parameters.
