During the investigation of the freshwater diatoms from Tibet, a monoraphid species was observed from a hot spring near Anduo County, located on a plateau in the central portion of Tibet. This species shares the diagnostic features of , such as the valve bent along the transapical axis, striae uniseriate to biseriate from centre to the apices and areolae with special structures located at the end of each stria. We compared the morphological characters of this new species with the others in this genus and show it to be new; it is named This species has small valves with slightly protracted ends with nearly capitate apices, lanceolate axial area, central area unilaterally expanded to the margin, striae uniseriate to biseriate, but, in some valves, the striae are only uniseriate.

For the first time, N-(5-phenylpentan-1-yl)adenine, a synthetic adenine derivative with a receptor-specific anticytokinin effect, was obtained. This compound exhibits a pronounced anticytokinin effect, reducing cytokinin-induced expression of the GUS reporter gene when interacting with the cytokinin receptor CRE1/AHK4 of the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. This effect manifests itself much weaker with the related AHK2 receptor and is not observed at all with the AHK3 receptor.

The present review highlights both the fundamental questions of calcium localization, compartmentation, and its participation in symbiosome signaling cascades during nodule formation and functioning. Apparently, the main link of such signaling is the calmodulin…calcium- and calmodulin-dependent protein kinases…CYCLOPS…NIN…target genes cascade. The minimum threshold level of calcium as a signaling agent in the presence of intracellular reserves determines the possibility of oligotrophy and ultraoligotrophy in relation to this element.

The effects of high-intensity light on the pigment content, photosynthetic rate, and fluorescence parameters of photosystem II in high-pigment tomato mutants ( 3005) and low-pigment mutants ( 3617) were investigated. This study also evaluated the dry weight percentage of low molecular weight antioxidant capacity, expression patterns of some photoreceptor-regulated genes, and structural aspects of leaf mesophyll cells. The 3005 mutant displayed increased levels of photosynthetic pigments and anthocyanins, whereas the 3617 mutant demonstrated a heightened content of ultraviolet-absorbing pigments.

Chemical investigation of the polypore fungus Fistulina hepatica resulted in the isolation of five compounds, including four new polyacetylenic fatty acid derivatives - isocinnatriacetin B (1), isocinnatriacetin A (2), cinna-triacetin C (3) and ethylcinnatriacetin A (4) together with one known polyacetylene fatty acid derivative - cinnatriacetin A (5). The structures were elucidated using spectroscopic methods (UV, NMR, HR-ESIMS) along with comparison to literature data. Antibacterial activity screening of compounds 1-5 against ESKAPE bacterial strains in vitro with zones of inhibition (ZOI) was performed and MIC values were established for the most active compounds (3 and 4).
