Cancer prevention challenges in Ethiopia include limited community awareness and low uptake of screening, which are in part driven by a lack of culturally and linguistically relevant cancer education appropriate for the diverse indigenous communities of this never-colonized nation. In 2022, a comprehensive multi-media breast cancer (BC) awareness campaign was implemented, featuring local cancer experts and survivors, with community-based screening events in the towns of Adama and Mojo. The RE-AIM framework was used to evaluate and describe its reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation, and maintenance.

Sputum culture reversion after conversion is an indicator of tuberculosis (TB) treatment failure. We analyze data from the endTB multi-country prospective observational cohort (NCT03259269) to estimate the frequency (primary endpoint) among individuals receiving a longer (18-to-20 month) regimen for multidrug- or rifampicin-resistant (MDR/RR) TB who experienced culture conversion. We also conduct Cox proportional hazard regression analyses to identify factors associated with reversion, including comorbidities, previous treatment, cavitary disease at conversion, low body mass index (BMI) at conversion, time to conversion, and number of likely-effective drugs.

Background: The burden of neonatal mortality is primarily borne by low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), including deaths due to healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Few studies have assessed infection prevention and control (IP&C) practices in African units caring for small and/or sick newborns aimed to reduce HAIs.
Methods: We performed a mixed-methods study composed of a survey and virtual tour to assess IP&C and related practices.
Introduction: There have been numerous studies that showed the presence of human papillomavirus (HPV) in breast cancer; nonetheless, there is ongoing debate regarding their association. Given few studies in Ethiopia, we aimed to investigate the magnitude of HPV infection in Ethiopian breast cancer patients.
Methods: A total of 120 formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue blocks were obtained, and basic demographic, clinical, and histological data were collected from medical records.
