A modified adaptive Kalman filter (AKF) algorithm is proposed to make underwater multi-target tracking with uncertain measurement noise reliable. By utilizing the proposed AKF algorithm with three core points, including an adaptive fading factor, measurement noise covariance adjustment, and an adaptive weighting factor, the unknown measurement noise and state vector can be estimated with good accuracy and robustness. The practical trial data verify this algorithm, and it has proven superior to all traditional algorithms in this Letter based on the results that it reduces the estimated position RMSEs by at least 10.

Background: The prevalence of hypertension among the Tibetan population in Tibet is higher than in other regions of China, and there is a lack of unified epidemiological surveys. This study aims to conduct a standardized epidemiological investigation to assess the current status of hypertension among the Tibetan population, as well as to explore the dose-response relationship between cholesterol (TC), triglyceride glucose index (TyG), triglyceride glucose-body mass index (TyG-BMI), and hypertension in this population.
Methods: From June 2020 to July 2023, a total of 5042 Tibetans aged 18 to 80 years from three cities and one region in Tibet were randomly sampled for the study.

Viral infection activates the transcription factors IRF3 and NF-κB, which induce type I interferon (IFN) and antiviral innate immune responses. Here, we identify dual-specific tyrosine phosphorylation-regulated kinase 4 (DYRK4) as an important regulator of virus-triggered IFN-β induction and antiviral innate immunity. Overexpression of DYRK4 enhances virus-triggered activation of IRF3 and type I IFN induction, whereas knockdown or knockout of DYRK4 impairs virus-induced activation of IRF3 and NF-κB.

Hippophae gyantsensis is a dioecious plant endemic to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and is significant for ecological restoration and sand stabilization. Its fruit is rich in bioactive compounds that offer economic potential. However, the inability to distinguish sexes before flowering and prolonged maturation hinder breeding and cultivation.

Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and its biodegradability (BDOC%) in aquatic ecosystems significantly impact the global carbon cycle, varying greatly across rivers, lakes, and estuaries due to environmental and anthropogenic factors. However, a thorough understanding of these variations is still lacking. This study investigated the interactions between climate, hydrology, physiography, soil, land cover, and human activity on DOC dynamics in rivers, lakes, and estuaries.

Repeated extreme environmental training (RET) enhances adaptability and induces lasting methylation modifications. We recruited 64 participants from a high-altitude region (4700 m), including 32 volunteers with repeated high-altitude exposure, reaching up to 8848 m and as many as 11 exposures. By analyzing 741,489 CpG loci and 39 phenotypes, we identified significant changes in 13 CpG loci (R > 0.

Eukaryotic plankton are important parts of the aquatic ecosystem and their community composition and spatiotemporal distribution patterns are affected by environmental factors. The Liujiaxia Reservoir is located at the northeastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau and is a vital resource for communities and agriculture in the region. Revealing the plankton diversity and their correlation with environmental factors is essential for understanding the ecological processes and mechanisms by which plankton contribute to, and maintain the ecosystem function of, the Liujiaxia Reservoir and beyond.

Diffusion is defined as general mechanism for drug release from advanced delivery systems, yet dynamic structure of dosage form intrinsically plays an unknown role. The synchrotron radiation X-ray micro-computed tomography (SR-μCT) three-dimensional (3D) imaging and in-depth analysis of 3D structures were applied to readily differentiate materials and accurately capture internal structure changes of multiple unit pellet system (MUPS) and the constituent pellets, visualizing internal 3D structure of a MUPS of theophylline tablets for their 3 levels hierarchy structures: pellets with rapid drug release characteristics, a protective cushion layer and a matrix layer. Drug release pathways were extracted from SR-μCT images and a 3D maze network was constructed using pore network analysis to quantify the internal structural evolution during drug release.

Considerable individual differences in learning ability have long been recognized, yet cognitive learning studies traditionally emphasized group averages while overlooking individual differences. We conducted intersubject similarity of functional connectivity analysis on a month-long randomized controlled trial dataset. Subjects in the training group, together with an additional 66 subjects undergoing the same training, were included to examine the correlations between intersubject similarity of functional connectivity and the intersubject similarity of single nucleotide polymorphisms related to mental disorders (schizophrenia, attention-deficient hyperactivity disorder, and autism spectrum disorder).

Ambient concentrations are commonly used as proxies for personal PM exposure in epidemiological studies, despite indoor settings being the places where people spend most of their time. In a panel study of 110 nonsmoking, healthy college students in Lhasa, Tibet, indoor PM was monitored using calibrated low-cost sensors for two multiweek periods, in over 40 dormitories where participants resided. We also repeatedly measured fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO), an acute respiratory inflammation biomarker, for each participant.

Elements are the basic substances that make up living organisms, and the element composition in plants quantitatively reflect the adaptation of plants to environment. However, the drivers that constitute the species-specific plant elementome, as well as the bivariate bioelemental correlations in determining the stability of different bioelements are yet unclear. Based on 1058 leaf observations of 84 plant species from 232 wetlands across large environmental gradients, we found that bioelements with higher concentration were more stable and evolutionary constrained.

The potential molecular mechanisms of short-term adaptation and long-term structural deteriorations in the cardiac structure in response to high altitude remain not fully understood. This study aims to investigate changes in the crotonylproteome in the hearts of mice exposed to high altitude at different time points. The hearts were obtained from mice living at the lowland and 3, 10, and 30 days after arriving at a plateau.

Pollution remains one of the most significant global challenges. Photocatalysis consists of a new organic pollutant removal technology, with TiO widely studied as a photocatalyst in the photocatalytic removal of water pollution. However, intrinsic TiO has the disadvantages of weak visible light absorption, low electron separation, and transmission efficiency, as well as few active sites.

Oxysophocarpine (OSC), a quinolizidine alkaloid, shows neuroprotective potential, though its mechanisms are unclear. The aim of the present study was to investigate the neuroprotective effects of OSC through the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/ heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) signaling pathway using the HT-22 cell line. Assessments of cell viability were conducted utilizing the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay.

Metaflammation is low-grade inflammation triggered by chronic metabolic imbalance and caused by dysregulated metabolites in metabolic inflammatory syndrome (MIS), which includes four diseases: obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), atherosclerosis (AS), and nonalcoholic fatty liver diseases (NAFLD, recently proposed to be replaced by metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, MASLD). These diseases exhibit apparent sex dimorphism as regards MIS. Estrogen not only plays a crucial role in gender differences in adults but also possesses an anti-inflammatory effect on many metabolic diseases.
