Article Synopsis
  • Postoperative pain management after posterior urethroplasty (PU) is challenging, and a new technique combining pudendal nerve and spermatic cord blocks was proposed to improve pain control compared to the traditional caudal epidural block.
  • A study involving 60 patients showed that those receiving the new nerve block technique experienced longer pain relief and lower pain scores at 12 and 24 hours post-surgery compared to those who received the caudal block.
  • The findings suggest that the combined nerve block is a more effective option for postoperative analgesia in PU, registered under the Chinese Clinical Trial Register.

MicroRNA (miR)-200b-3p has been associated with many tumors, but its involvement in pituitary adenoma is unclear. This study investigated the molecular mechanism underlying miR-200b-3p regulation in pituitary adenomas to provide a theoretical basis for treatment. Bioinformatics was used to analyze pituitary adenoma-related genes and screen new targets related to RECK and miRNA.

Engineering a patient's own T cells to accurately identify and eliminate cancer cells has effectively cured individuals afflicted with previously incurable hematologic cancers. These findings have stimulated research into employing chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T therapy across various areas within the field of oncology. However, evidence from both clinical and preclinical investigations emphasize the broader potential of CAR T therapy, extending beyond oncology to address autoimmune disorders, persistent infections, cardiac fibrosis, age-related ailments and other conditions.

This study aimed to compare the postoperative analgesic efficacy and motor recovery of a novel lumbar plexus block (LPB) with that of a femoral nerve block (FNB) after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Forty patients who underwent TKA were randomised equally into an lumbar plexus and sciatic nerve (LS) group (receiving novel LPB) and an femoral and sciatic nerves (FS) group (receiving FNB). The assessed variables were the onset time of pain, time to the first analgesic request, pain scores, motor block at 6, 12, and 24 h after TKA, and the number of patients receiving successful blockade for each branch of the lumbar plexus.

We described a case of a double aortic arch (DAA) with a subaortic left brachiocephalic vein (LBCV) and right-side ductus arteriosus using high-definition (HD) flow render mode and spatiotemporal image correlation (STIC). We experienced uncertainty regarding this interesting case despite the diagnosis of right-sided ductus arteriosus. The ductus arteriosus originates from the right pulmonary artery (PA) and converges into the descending aorta (DAO), whereas the vessel originated from the PA and converged into the ascending aorta (AAO).

Objective: To investigate clinical effect of percutaneous reduction combined with internal fixation of calcaneal nail in treating Sanders typeⅡto Ⅲ calcaneal fractures.

Methods: From July 2017 to August 2019, clinical data of 98 patients with Sanders typeⅡto Ⅲ calcaneal fractures treated were retrospectively analyzed, and divided into observation group and control group according to different surgical methods. In observation group, there were 35 males and 21 females, aged from 23 to 58 years old with an average of (34.

Myocardial injury is an indicator of poor prognosis in sepsis, whereas propofol has been reported to protect the myocardium. Therefore, the present study investigated the effect of propofol on myocardial injury in sepsis and its mechanism. An model of myocardial cell injury was established in myocardial H9C2 cells using lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

Background: Podocyte injuries and dysfunctions contribute to the development of diabetic nephropathy (DN). This study aimed to investigate the role and novel mechanism of lncRNA 1500026H17Rik in high glucose (HG)-treated podocytes.

Methods: DN mice were induced by streptozotocin, and DN in vitro models were constructed in mouse podocytes treated with HG.

Objective: Analysis of clinical factors and changes in regulatory T cell (Treg)-related cytokine levels in transfusion-associated acute lung injury (TRALI).

Methods: 62 patients who underwent blood transfusion and developed TRALI (TRALI group) in our hospital between January 2018 and December 2021 and 58 patients who did not develop TRALI (non-TRALI group) from blood transfusion were selected to collect clinical data from patients and construct a logistic regression model to analyze clinical risk factors for TRALI. Based on the prognosis of TRALI patients, they were divided into survival group (50 cases) and death group (12 cases), and serum CD4 + CD25 + Treg and Treg-related cytokines (interleukin 10 (IL-10), transforming growth factor- (TGF-)) levels were compared between the two groups, and the correlation between CD4 + CD25 + Treg and IL-10 and TGF- was analyzed by Pearson.

Novel RARS2 Variants: Updating the Diagnosis and Pathogenesis of Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia Type 6.

Pediatr Neurol

June 2022

Department of Medical Genetics and Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory, Shanghai Children's Medical Center, School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, People's Republic of China. Electronic address:

Background: Pontocerebellar hypoplasia type 6 (PCH6) is an early-onset encephalopathy with/without mitochondrial respiratory complex defects caused by recessive mutations in mitochondrial arginyl-tRNA synthetase (RARS2). Highly heterogeneous clinical phenotypes and numerous missense variations of uncertain significance make diagnosis difficult. Pathogenesis of PCH6 remains unclear.

Zhongguo Shi Yan Xue Ye Xue Za Zhi

October 2017

Department of Hematology and Research Laboratory of Hematology, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Chengdu 610041, Sichuan Province, China. E-mail:

Objective: To explore the effect of recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) on myeloma cell line MPC-11 in vitro and its anti-tumor mechamism so as to provide the theoretic evidence for treatment of multiple myeloma by using rhEPO.

Methods: MPC-11 cells were cultured in RPMI 1640 medium, then the MPC-11 cells in logarithmic growth phase were seed in 96 well culture plates at a density of 1×10/ml cells with 100 µl per well. For all the experiments, the control and rhEPO groups were set up, and the rhEPO group was divided into different concentration groups: 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 200 and 400 rhEPO U/ml.

School of Public Health, Gansu University of Chinese Medicine, No. 35 Dingxi Dong Road, Lanzhou, Gansu, 730000 PR China. Electronic address:

Background: Hypertension is the most common cause of intracerebral haemorrhages (ICHs), yet the short-term impact factors associated with hypertensive intracerebral haemorrhages (HICHs) in patients who undergo different surgical treatments are still unknown.

Materials And Methods: All consecutive patients with acute HICHs admitted to our hospital from January 2012 to March 2015 were enrolled in the study. Patients were either randomly divided or assigned according to their family's preference into three groups (those undergoing minimally invasive aspiration, keyhole craniotomy or haematoma aspiration with extended pterional and decompressive craniotomy).
