Front Mol Biosci

December 2021

Travel Clinic, Center for Infectious Diseases, Beijing Youan Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China.

HIV-infected immunological non-responders (INRs) are characterized by their inability to reconstitute CD4 T cell pools after antiretroviral therapy. The risk of non-AIDS-related diseases in INRs is increased, and the outcome and prognosis of INRs are inferior to that of immunological responders (IRs). However, few markers can be used to define INRs precisely.

Transcriptional factor ATF3 promotes liver fibrosis via activating hepatic stellate cells.

Cell Death Dis

December 2020

Department of Histology and Embryology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Tianjin Medical University, Tianjin, China.

The excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM) is a key feature of liver fibrosis and the activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) are the major producer of ECM proteins. However, the precise mechanisms and target molecules that are involved in liver fibrosis remain unclear. In this study, we reported that activating transcription factor 3 (ATF3) was over-expressed in mice and human fibrotic livers, in activated HSCs and injured hepatocytes (HCs).

In Vivo Neuroelectrophysiological Monitoring of Atomically Precise Au Clusters at an Ultrahigh Injected Dose.

ACS Omega

September 2020

Tianjin International Joint Research Center for Neural Engineering, Academy of Medical Engineering and Translational Medicine, Tianjin University, Tianjin 300072, China.

Atomically precise Au(SG) clusters have shown great promise in near-infrared II cerebrovascular imaging, X-ray imaging, and cancer radiotherapy due to their high atomic number, unique molecular-like electronic structure, and renal clearable properties. Therefore, it is important to study the in vivo toxicity of Au clusters. Unfortunately, previous toxicological investigations focused on low injected doses (<100 mg kg) and routine research methods, such as blood chemistry and biochemistry, which cannot reflect neurotoxicity or tiny changes in neural activity.

Silencing lncRNA Lfar1 alleviates the classical activation and pyoptosis of macrophage in hepatic fibrosis.

Cell Death Dis

February 2020

Department of Histology and Embryology, Tianjin Key Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Immunology, Key Laboratory of Immune Microenvironment and Disease of Ministry of Education, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Tianjin Medical University, Tianjin, China.

Hepatic fibrosis is a common pathological consequence of a sustained wound healing response to continuous liver injury, characterized by increased production and accumulation of extracellular matrix. If unresolved, the fibrotic process results in organ failure, and eventually death after the development of cirrhosis. It has been suggested that macrophages play central role in the progression of hepatic fibrosis, which is related to inflammation and pyroptosis, a novel programmed and proinflammatory cell death.
