Trans-translation is a unique bacterial ribosome rescue system that plays important roles in the tolerance to environmental stresses. It is composed of an ssrA-encoded tmRNA and a protein SmpB. In this study, we examined the role of trans-translation in antibiotic tolerance in Klebsiella pneumoniae and explored whether the inhibition of this mechanism could enhance the bactericidal activities of antibiotics.

p62, as a scaffolding/adaptor protein, is involved in multiple physiological processes include inflammation, autophagy and mitosis. However, the influence of p62 in cancer patients has not been comprehensively investigated. Moreover, the prognostic value of p62 for the survival of patients with solid tumors remains controversial.

Type 1 diabetes mellitus is heterogeneous in many facets. The patients suffered from type 1 diabetes present several levels of islet function as well as variable number and type of islet-specific autoantibodies. This study was to investigate prevalence and heterogeneity of the islet autoantibodies and clinical phenotypes of type 1 diabetes mellitus; and also discussed the process of islet failure and its risk factors in Chinese type 1 diabetic patients.

Objective: To investigate the effects of high D-glucose on migration, proliferation, and angiogenesis of endothelial cells and to make sure whether PI3K and Akt signaling pathway plays an important role in the pathogenesis of diabetic vascular complications.
Methods: Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were cultured. D-glucose of the concentrations of 5 mmol/L, 15 mmol/L, and 30 mmol/L and mannitol of the concentrations of 5 mmol/L, 15 mmol/L, and 30 mmol/L were added in to the medium, the migration rate of the cells was measured by wound healing test and the cell proliferation was examined with CellTiter 96 AQ(ueous) One Solution cell proliferation assay.
