To avoid the undesired bacterial attachment on polyurethane-based biomedical devices, we designed a class of novel perfluoropolyether-incorporated polyurethanes (PFPU) containing different contents of perfluoropolyether (PFPE) segments. After blending with Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs), a series of bifunctional PFPU/AgNPs composites with bactericidal and anti-adhesion abilities were obtained and correspondingly made into PFPU/AgNPs films (PFPU/Ag-F) using a simple solvent-casting method. Due to its highest hydrophobicity and suitable mechanical properties, PFPU8/Ag-F containing 8 mol% of PFPE content was chosen as the optimized one for the next antibacterial assessment.

ABO incompatibility has emerged as the premier reason for hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN). It always occurs in the offspring of blood group O mother. We present a rare case that the fetus of group A got HDFN caused by the anti-group A immunoglobulin G from a group B mother.

We investigated the effects of matairesinol (MAT) in the experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU), a classical animal model of uveitis. We found that treatment with MAT could alleviate intraocular inflammation of EAU. Notably, Th17 cells in eyes of EAU mice could be predominantly restrained by MAT.

Studies investigating the relationships between the polymorphisms in the X-ray repair cross complementing 1 (XRCC1) gene and the susceptibility of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remained controversial, therefore, we assessed this associations by metaanalysis and trial sequential analysis (TSA). PubMed, Embase, Google Scholar, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure and Baidu Scholar were comprehensively screened to retrieve relevant studies up to May 20, 2019. A total of 32 studies was included.

Our previous study showed that Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) could protect cardiomyocytes against hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) injury via the JAK-STAT pathway and maintain normal myocardial mitochondria integrity in vivo. However, it is not known yet whether S1P can relieve mitochondrial dysfunction via the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway and its detailed mechanism remains to be investigated. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the mitochondrial protective effects of S1P in a cardiomyocyte H/R injury model.

To explore roles of androgen and cytokines such as IL-1, IL-6 and TNF-α in PCOS. Cumulus cells were isolated from rat COCs and divided into two sets of experiments. Set 1 includes 4 groups: Control group, IL-1 group (final concentration at 5 nM), IL-6 group (final concentration at 5nM) and TNF-α group (final concentration at 5nM).

Background And Aims: Although preconditioning of sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) has been shown to protect myocytes from hypoxia reoxgenation injury in vitro, the role of S1P postconditioning on myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury (MIRI) in vivo and its related mechanism are unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the protective role of sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) postconditioning in MIRI via its effects on mitochondrial signaling and Akt/Gsk3β phosphorylation.
Methods: Rats were subjected to MIRI, consisting of 30 min of ischemia followed by 120 min of reperfusion, with S1P administered at the beginning of the reperfusion.

The aim of this study was to explore the immune protective mechanism of rMOMP protein vaccine in intraocular hypertension and retinal optic nerve injury in rats. The rMOMP protein ophthalmic vaccine was prepared and quality-controlled. Sixty normal adult SD rats were randomly divided into two groups to establish a chronic ocular hypertension model and an optic nerve injury model.

Background: Alkaloids of Sophora alopecuroides have good biological activity, and are widely used in clinical settings, which not only have pharmacological activities of anti-cancer, cancer suppression, as well as the inhibition, and killing of various microorganisms; but also possess extensive pharmacological effects on immune system, nervous system and cardiovascular system. The objective of this paper was to extract and isolate total alkaloids of Sophora alopecuroides (TASA), and to study their anti-tumor effects in H22 tumor-bearing mice.
Materials And Methods: TASA were extracted and isolated using thin-layer chromatography, and column chromatography; and the isolated compounds were analyzed using nuclear magnetic resonance.

Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of transanal drainage tube followed by laparoscopic surgery in management of malignant colorectal obstruction.
Methods: From March 2007 to October 2010, 37 patients with colorectal cancer manifesting acute complete mechanical obstruction were treated by ileus tube drainage. After irrigation and drainage ranging from 4 to 10 days, the radical operations and anastomosis were performed by laparoscopy.
