Few studies have reported the associations of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) with cytokine release syndrome (CRS), neurotoxic events (NEs) and efficacy after chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy for relapsed or refractory (R/R) B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). We present a retrospective study of 67 patients with R/R B-ALL who received anti-CD19 CAR T-cell therapy, 41 (61.2%) patients received G-CSF (G-CSF group), while 26 (38.

Background: With the increasing survival rate of smaller newborns and twins, previous growth curves may not accurately assess the growth of extremely preterm infants (EPIs). Our study aimed to establish birth weight percentile curves for singletons and twins in EPIs from China and the USA and compare the differences between them.
Methods: In China, EPIs were from 31 provinces, from 2010 to 2021.

Mechanically robust hydrogel fibers have demonstrated great potential in energy dissipation and shock-absorbing applications. However, developing such materials that are recyclable, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly remains an enormous challenge. Herein, inspired by spider silk, a continuous and scalable method is introduced for spinning a polyacrylamide hydrogel microfiber with a hierarchical sheath-core structure under ambient conditions.

Many immune-mediated diseases have the common genetic basis, as an autoimmune disorder, celiac disease (CeD) primarily affects the small intestine, and is caused by the ingestion of gluten in genetically susceptible individuals. As for ulcerative colitis (UC), which most likely involves a complex interplay between some components of the commensal microbiota and other environmental factors in its origin. These two autoimmune diseases share a specific target organ, the bowel.

Purpose: Establishment of sister chromatid cohesion N-acetyltransferase 2 (ESCO2) is involved in the mitotic S-phase adhesins acetylation and is responsible for bridging two sister chromatids. However, present ESCO2 cancer research is limited to a few cancers. No systematic pan-cancer analysis has been conducted to investigate its role in diagnosis, prognosis, and effector function.

Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a common fungal toxin frequently detected in food and human plasma samples. Currently, the physiologically based toxicokinetic (PBTK) model plays an active role in dose translation and can improve and enhance the risk assessment of toxins. In this study, the PBTK model of OTA in rats and humans was established based on knowledge of OTA-specific absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) in order to better explain the disposition of OTA in humans and the discrepancies with other species.

Background: Propofol can increase neurotoxicity in infants but the precise mechanism is still unknown. Our previous study revealed that nuclear FMR1 interacting protein 1 (NUFIP1), a specific ribophagy receptor, can alleviate T cell apoptosis in sepsis. Yet, the effect of NUFIP1-engineered exosomes elicited from human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells (hUMSCs) on nerve injury induced by propofol remains unclear.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most prevalent and lethal subtype of kidney cancer, patients with ccRCC usually have very poor prognosis and short survival. Therefore, it is urgent to develop more effective therapeutics or medications to suppress ccRCC progression. Here, we demonstrated that STING agonist, MSA-2 significantly inhibits tumor progress and prolongs the survival of ccRCC mice by promoting cytokines secretion.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of various dosing regimens of omadacycline against main drug-resistant pathogens in the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) and community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP). Monte Carlo simulations were conducted using pharmacokinetic parameters and pharmacodynamic data to calculate cumulative fractions of response (CFRs) in terms of drug area under the concentration curve/minimum inhibition concentration targets.CFR ≥ 90% was considered optimal for a dosage regimen.

To explore the clinical efficacy of surgical excision combined with low-energy X-ray irradiation in the treatment of ear keloids. Clinical data of 32 cases of ear keloid lesions that received surgical treatment alone or surgery combined with radiotherapy from March 2019 to November 2022 in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery of the Tianjin First Central Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 10 cases received radiotherapy and 22 cases did not receive radiotherapy.

Developing a self-elastic sponge integrating active and passive hemostatic mechanisms for the effective management of uncontrolled coagulopathic hemorrhage remains a challenge. We here developed a chitosan-based sponge by integrating freeze-drying, chemical decoration of alkyl chains and phosphate groups, and physical loading of thrombin. The sponge exhibited high mechanical strength, self-elasticity, and rapid shape recovery.

In patients with periodontitis, due to problems of periodontal tissue infection as well as soft and hard tissues defects, it may lead to implant infection, gingival papilla loss, soft tissue recession and poor coordination with adjacent teeth. For such patients, periodontal infection should be actively controlled before dental implant therapy. In consideration of insufficient soft and hard tissues, alveolar ridge preservation and soft tissue augmentation procedure can be used to preserve or increase soft and hard tissues as much as possible.

This study aims to assess clinical outcomes following switching from originator to generic amlodipine. This population-based, matched, cohort study included users of originator amlodipine using claims data during 2018-2020 from a health system in Tianjin, China, in which usage of generic amlodipine was promoted by a drug procurement policy, the national volume-based procurement. Non-switchers refer to those remained on originator after the policy, while pure-switchers were those who switched to and continued using generic amlodipine, and back-switchers were those switched to generic amlodipine but then back to the originator.

To analyze the expression profile of fatty acid metabolism (FAM)-related genes, identify a prognostic signature, and evaluate its clinical value for gastric cancer (GC) patients. The mRNA expression profiles of 493 FAM-related genes were obtained from TCGA database. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between cancer and non-cancer samples were identified, and their relationships with overall survival (OS) of GC patients were evaluated.

Macropinocytosis is a large-scale endocytosis process primarily observed in phagocytes as part of their cellular function to ingest antigens. Once phagocytes encounter gram-negative bacteria, the receptor proteins identify lipopolysaccharides (LPSs), which trigger radical membrane ruffles that gradually change to cup-like structures. The open area of the cups closes to generate vesicles called macropinosomes.

Background: Dialytic phosphate removal is a cornerstone of the management of hyperphosphatemia in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients, but the influencing factors on peritoneal phosphate clearance (PPC) are incompletely understood. Our objective was to explore clinically relevant factors associated with PPC in patients with different PD modality and peritoneal transport status and the association of PPC with mortality.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional and prospective observational study.

Acute lung injury (ALI) is a common postoperative complication, particularly in pediatric patients after liver transplantation. Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (HIR) increases the release of exosomes (IR-Exos) in peripheral circulation. However, the role of IR-Exos in the pathogenesis of ALI induced by HIR remains unclear.

Tumor penetration is a critical determinant of the therapy efficacy of nanomedicines. However, the dense extracellular matrix (ECM) in tumors significantly hampers the deep penetration of nanomedicines, resulting in large drug-untouchable areas and unsatisfactory therapy efficacy. Herein, we synthesized a third-generation PAMAM-cored multiarm copolymer and modified the polymer with collagenase to enhance its tumor penetration.
